The purpose of this study is to develop computer-based experiment of free fall movement to improve the graphical literacy of the Physics Education students. This study employed quasi-experimental design, particularly the pre-test and post-test control group design. The sample was 58 students of the first semester of Physics Education study program. They were divided into two groups, namely 38 students constituted an experimental group and 20 students constituted the control group. Both groups joined learning activities at laboratory and classrooms with the same topic which is the free fall movement. Computer-based learning models were used to design learning activities for the experimental group, while the control group used a traditional learning model with manual experiment with stopwatch and never use experiment tool of free fall movement. It was indicated in this study that the use of such learning model improved the graphical literacy capability better than the traditional learning, which covered ability to identify experimental variables, using the experimental tools, making a graph, formulating mathematical equation, making predictions on the basis of the graph.

Abstrak: Artikel ini melaporkan gambaran tentang keterampilan literasilingkungan mahasiswa calon guru kimia di Fakultas Keguruan dan IlmuPendidikan di Universitas Sriwijaya. Keterampilan ini terdiri dari kompetensilingkungan, pengetahuan lingkungan, dan sikap terhadap lingkungan. Datadikumpulkan dengan melakukan survei pada mahasiswa semester 4 dan 6. Darihasil survey ditemukan bahwa mahasiswa calon guru kimia memiliki literasilingkungan pada kategori sedang untuk aspek kompetensi lingkungan danpengetahuan lingkungan, sedangkan untuk aspek sikap terhadap lingkunganberada pada kategori tinggi. Temuan ini mengindikasikan perlu dilakukan inovasiterhadap perkuliahan agar kompetensi lingkungan dan pengetahuan lingkunganmahasiswa dapat lebih baik lagi. Berdasar pada konsep literasi lingkungan,khususnya pada kompetensi lingkungan dan pengetahuan lingkungan, diduga kuatbahwa mata kuliah Kimia Lingkungan merupakan media potensial untukmembekalkan keterampilan tersebut kepada mahasiswa.Kata Kunci: Literasi Lingkungan, Calon Guru Kimia

The scenario of Industry 4.0 and 21st century skills show rapidly increase and informed. In this century, the main goal of our educational system should be able to answer students needed for living in the world. In recent years, STEM Education has received growing attention to be considered to understand STEM Education. In the South East Asia, Indonesia is one of the biggest country has a large number of human resources that should be developed. This study was aimed to examine the movement of STEM education in Indonesia within the scope of 21st century skills categories by using the content analysis method, examine best practice of STEM education for teachers by investigating engineering design skills training and reviewed the literature from 1990 to 2016 that has emphasized on development of STEM education around the world. The findings showed that STEM Education has been developed around Indonesia and has a positive impact to enhance students’ concept comprehension, literacy, and creativity. Many researches provide evidence the best practice for science teacher to implement STEM Education. STEM has a close to daily life and increase student awareness with the environment.
