Presently, social media is widely used worldwide among different populations. Therefore, phubbing rapidly became a popular phenomenon in our daily life. However, little is known about the underlying mechanism and interaction between social media use and phubbing. Therefore, this research examines the mediating and moderating role of cognitive flexibility in the association between social media addiction and phubbing. Participants were 385 university students (280 females) studying at a state university in eastern Turkey and completed the self-reported measures of cognitive flexibility, social media addiction, and phubbing. The results showed that cognitive flexibility mediated and moderated the effect of social media addiction on phubbing. These findings may contribute to the discussion around the psychological consequences of using social media alongside increasing awareness about factors affecting and explaining the association between social media use and phubbing, which have important implications for research and practice.

Son zamanlarda, insanlar arası iletişim ve etkileşimin büyük çoğunluğunun internet ve mobil cihazlar aracılığıyla gerçekleştirilmesi ve yaygın sosyal medya kullanımı, insanlara belli avantajlar sağlamanın yanı sıra yeni olumsuzluklar da katmaktadır. Alan yazında Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) olarak adlandırılan, Türkçeye Gelişmeleri Kaçırma Korkusu (GKK) olarak geçen kaygı türü, bu olumsuzlukların birçoğunun altında yer alan önemli bir kavramdır. Bu kaygı türünün iyi anlaşılması, önleyici adımların atılması ve doğru müdahale çalışmalarının yapılması açısından, kuramsal çerçevesinin iyi şekilde ortaya konulması gerekmektedir. Bu bağlamda, bu çalışmanın amacı, konu üzerine kapsamlı bir kuramsal çalışma ortaya koymak, GKK'nin özellikle gençler ve genç yetişkinlerin eğitim, sosyal, ekonomik ve psikolojik hayatlarında önemli bir olumsuzluğa sahip olduğuna dikkat çekmek ve bu kavramın ne olduğunun, nedenlerinin, belirtilerinin, olumsuz etkilerinin ve nasıl mücadele edileceğinin bilinmesinin bu sorunla baş etmedeki önemi üzerine temel bir bakış açısı oluşturmaktır. Literatür taraması yapılarak ortaya konan bu çalışmada, konu üzerine yapılan ulusal ve uluslararası çalışmaların sonuçları derlenmiştir. Gelişmeleri Kaçırma Korkusu, başkalarının sahip olduğu heyecanlı ve görkemli hayatlarına yönelik internet aracılığıyla sürekli takip etme isteği ve buna yönelik sürekli endişe hali olarak tanımlanabilir. Bu korkunun sonuçları kadar nedenlerinin de anlaşılması, bu noktada önem arz etmektedir. In the literature, a type of anxiety called Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), referred as Gelişmeleri Kaçırma Korkusu (GKK) in Turkish, is an important concept underlying many of these disadvantages. Technology and internet usage, which has become a common practice in almost every context, sometimes becomes a source of stress for the individuals, on the other hand, it also acts as a means of coping with stress. The adaptation process to be experienced by individuals who have participated in a new culture may form stress sources in these individuals, and this stress may lead to internet addiction. The purpose of this research is to review the stress sources of the teachers assigned in Van province of Turkey from other provinces and the relationship between the stress sources and internet addiction tendency. The research was conducted with 17 teachers working in Van province. The data of the research was collected by semi-structural interview form developed by researchers. Descriptive analysis and content analysis techniques were used in the analysis of data. As a result of the research, it was found that teachers demonstrate tendency of internet addiction through developing stress due to cultural differences, however they do not attempt to prevent it. It is suggested to detect internet addiction tendencies in teachers assigned in different cultures by research, to prevent the development of addiction behaviour by early interventions and to include teachers assigned in new cultures in cultural adaptation trainings.

Bu araştırmanın amacı, işbirlikli öğrenmenin yabancı dil öğretimindeki önemine ilişkin öğretmen görüşlerini belirlemektir. Araştırma genel tarama modelindedir. Araştırmanın evrenini Van il merkezindeki ilköğretim ve ortaöğretim okullarında görev yapan 146 İngilizce öğretmeni, örneklemini ise bu öğretmenler arasından amaçlı örnekleme yöntemiyle seçilen 77 öğretmen oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın verileri Batdı (2013) tarafından geliştirilen işbirlikli öğrenme yönteminin dil öğretimindeki önemine ilişkin anket kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, işbirlikli öğrenmenin öğrencileri etkileşim ve iletişime yönlendirdiği ve öğrencilerin sosyal gelişimine katkıda bulunduğu bulgusuna ulaşılmıştır. Öğrenme üzerinde önemli etkisi olduğu belirlenen işbirlikli öğrenme yönteminin yabancı dil öğretiminde daha yaygın ve öğretim programının bir parçası olarak kullanılması önerilmiştir.
