Palavras chave: compostos nitrogenados não-protéicos (NNP), consumo, digestibilidade, produção de leite, vacas em lactação Intake, Apparent Digestibility, Milk Composition and Production of Lactating Cows Fed Four non Protein Nitrogen Compounds LevelsABSTRACT-The objective of this research were to detect how many days where necessary to animals to adapt to diets, to measure intake and milk production; also, to evaluate the effect of four levels of crude protein in the non protein nitrogen (NPN) based compounds (2,22; 4,18; 5,96 e 8,09%) on the milk composition and production, the intake and apparent digestibilities of dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), ether extract (EE), total carbohydrates (CHOT) and crude protein (CP) and the intake of total digestible nutrient (NDT). The four experimental diet were formulated to contain 60% of corn silage and 40% of corn meal, soybean meal, urea and mineral mix misture. Crescent levels of urea in the concentrate (0,0; 0,7; 1,4 e 2,1%) for the treatment 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively, were used. All diets were...
Palavras-chave: carcaça, desempenho, frango de corte, temperatura Effect of environmental temperature on performance and carcass characteristics of broilers from 22 to 42 days oldABSTRACT -This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of environmental temperature on performance and carcass characteristics of male broilers in the period from 22 to 42 days old. Three hundred and thirty-six male Avian Farm broilers, averaging 624 g were allotted to a randomized experimental design, with four treatments (temperatures of 16, 20, 25 and 32ºC). The treatment 1 consisted of 12 replicates and the others of 24 replicates, all with four birds per experimental unity. The treatments affected weight gain, feed intake and metabolizable energy intake that quadractly increased until the estimated temperatures of 24.4, 19.1 and 19.1ºC, respectively. Feed:gain ratio also changed in a quadratic way, increasing until the estimated temperature of 26.3ºC. The treatments influenced the carcass and breast yield that changed in a linear way as the temperature increased from 16 to 32ºC. Thigh yield changed in a quadratic way, increasing until the estimated temperature of 19.4ºC. The absolute weights of heart, kidney and gizzard and the relative weights of heart and gizzar...
Palavras-chave: ambiente, Escherichia coli, frango de corte, promotor de crescimento Use of Antibiotic, Probiotic and Homeopathy, Inoculated or not with Escherichia coli, for Broilers Reared under Comfort EnvironmentABSTRACT -The effect of antibiotic, probiotic and homeopathy in broilers inoculated or not with Escherichia coli was evaluated. Six hundred and seventy two male broilers of Avian Farm strain were assigned to a completely randomized design, in a factorial scheme, with eight treatments (four additives x inoculation or not) and six replicates, with 14, 12 and 7 birds by experimental box, respectively, according to the periods from 1 to 11, from 12 to 21 and from 22 to 42 days of age. The birds were allotted to acclimatized chambers, under comfort environment, according to the strain recommendations. The treatments were constituted of: negative control (no additive), antibiotic (virginiamicine + nitrovin), probiotic (culture medium of Lactobacilus acidophillus, Enterococcus faecium and Saccharomices cerevisiae) and homeopathy (nosody of Escherichia coli). It was observed that birds fed antibiotic and probiotic showed higher weight gain from 1 to 21 days, and the birds fed antibiotic showed the best feed:gain ratio, although in the total period (from 1 to 42 days of age) there was no difference among treatments. The inoculation with Escherichia coli decreased the birds performance; the bacteria increased the relative weight of heart, liver and intestines. It was concluded that the use of antibiotic and probiotic improved the birds performance from 1 to 21 days of age.
The objective of this study was to evaluate intake and apparent digestibility of agro-industrial by-product of peach palm in diets for lambs. Twenty castrated, crossbred Santa Ines lambs, with average age of 150 days and body weight of 22.4 ± 3.4 kg, were distributed in a completely randomized design with four experimental diets composed of the following: fresh by-product of peach palm enriched with urea + ammonia sulfate (FU); fresh peach palm by-product + concentrate (FP); silage of peach palm by-product + concentrate (SP); and silage of peach palm by-product enriched with 15% of cornmeal + concentrate (SPC). Intake was recorded daily, and the digestibility coefficients were estimated with the internal marker indigestible acid detergent fiber (iADF). Diet FU resulted in the lowest intake and digestibility of the nutrients evaluated. Animals receiving diet FP showed higher intakes of dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), total digestible nutrients (TDN), and digestible energy (DE) in relation to animals fed diets SP and SPC. Diets SP and SPC showed higher coefficients of digestibility of DM, OM, CP, and NDF than diet FP. Diet SP reduced the intakes of DM, OM, ether extract (EE), non-fibrous carbohydrate (NFC), TDN, and DE and the digestibility coefficients of DM, OM, and NFC as compared with diet SPC. Feedlot lambs fed a diet with fresh peach palm by-product + concentrate (diet FP) have higher nutrient intake.
