Background: Musculoskeletal complaints often occur in saleswomen who do awkward standing during work. Repair of standing position can reduce the risk of musculoskeletal pain. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of corrective work posture on alleviating musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) symptoms among saleswomen in the department store. Subjects and Method: This was a quasi experiment before and after with no control design conducted in Rantauprapat department store, North Sumatera. A sample of 30 sales women from the department store was selected for this study. The dependent variable was MSD scores as measured by Nordic Body Map (NBM). The independent variables were corrective work posture. The data before and after corrective work posture were compared and tested by t-test. Results: There was a difference between poor and good posture in MSD symptoms among saleswomen in the Department Store. Saleswomen with poor posture had higher MSD symptoms (mean 64.45) than those with good posture (53.39), and it was statistically significant (p= 0.001). Conclusions: Saleswomen with poor posture has higher MSD symptoms than those with good posture.
<p><em>A hospital is one of the work places which potentially causes danger to its employees. The cases which commonly occur are pricked by hypodermic needles, sprained, lumbago, and the other infections. A survey conducted a the beginning of 2017 revealed that there were some cases of occupational accident undergone by nurses at Permata Bunda Hospital such as HNP (Hernias Nukleus Pulposus), pricked by hypodermic needles, scratched by ampoule lids, and slipped.</em><em> </em><strong><em>Methods</em></strong><em>: </em><em>The objective of the research was to analyze the correlation of supervision, work procedure, and physical condition with the incidence of occupational accident in nurses in the inpatient wards of Permata Bunda Hospital, Medan. The data were analyzed by using chi square test. The samples were 96 nurse practitioners as the respondents, taken by using consecutive sampling technique.</em><em> </em><strong><em>Results and Discussion</em></strong><em>: </em><em>The result of the research showed that 17.7% of the respondents had undergone occupational accidents such as HNP (14.6%), pricked by hypodermic needles (15.6%), and slipped (10.4%). The result of chi square statistic test showed that the three variables: supervision (p=0.000), work procedure (p=0.005), and physical condition (p=0.000) had significant correlation with nurses’</em><em> </em><em>occupational accidents. </em><strong><em>Conclusion</em></strong><em>: </em><em>It is recommended that the hospital management increase occupational safety and health for the nurses by providing training about the danger of occupational accident in nurses and about occupational safety and health.</em></p><p><em>Keywords: Supervision, Work Procedure, Physical Condition, Occupational Accident </em></p><p> </p>
This research deals with the relationship between motivation factors and unsafe action on passenger ship crews in Tanjung Pinang. This type of research is an analytical survey using cross sectional design aimed at explaining a situation by analyzing the relationship between individual factors and work factors with unsafe action on the crew of passenger ships in Tanjung Pinang City. The study was conducted at the port of Sri Bintan Pura in Tanjung Pinang City. The population in this study is the crew of passenger ships with the position of Captain, Mualim, KKM (Head of Engine Room), and Oiler in the port of Sri Bintan Pura Tanjungpinang City with the destination of Tanjungpinang to Batam. Based on the results of the study indicate that there is a significant relationship between motivation and unsafe action. In the multivariate test, it is known that motivation variable has an influence on unsafe action with p value = 0.019 and exp (B) value of 8.577, which means that the motivation variable in the low category will cause unsafe action to be high by 8.577 times compared to the high motivation category. It can be conclude that the majority of respondents classified as young, have a high level of education, a new tenure, have a high income, good knowledge of occupational health and safety, high motivation, and unsafe action. Based on the bivariate analysis obtained levels of education, years of service, knowledge, motivation, related to unsafe action.
Working in an awkward posture without using work aids for welding shop workers can pose a risk of Musculoskeletal Disorders. The study aims to determine the factors associated with the risk of Musculoskeletal Disorders in welding workshop workers in the city of Lhokseumawe. This type of research is a type of quantitative research, with a cross sectional approach. Performed on 40 populations which are all used as samples. Data collection was carried out through interviews using the Nordic Body Map (NBM) worksheet to determine the level of MSDs complaints and to find out whether age, education, years of work, number of hours worked, number of hours of rest (independent variables) affected the MSDs (dependent variable). The results showed that there was an influence of the age factor (p value = 0,000), years of service (p value = 0,000), the number of hours worked (p value = 0.009) and the number of hours of sleep (p value = 0.009) on the risk of MSDs, but the education factor did not show the effect which is significant (pvalue = 0.548). The conclusions of this study are: age, years of work, number of hours worked and number of hours of sleep are the causes of MSDs risk in welding workshop workers except the level of education which is mostly high school. It is recommended to welding workshop workers to use tools such as work desks to reduce the odd work posture, the allocation of working time in accordance with the applicable government regulations, namely 7 hours a day by business owners, as well as the continuity of activities of the UKK Team towards informal workers both in terms of knowledge transfer (counseling) and health services.

Noise is all unwanted sounds sourced from the tools of production process or work tools that in some degree may cause hearig function disorder. Noise with treshold level value (TLV) of 85 dB is considered safe for most workers when they are working 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week. The objective of the research was to find out the influence of noise intensity on workers' hearing function disorder. The research used quantitative method with cross sectional design. Noise data were gathered by using Sound Level Meter and hearing function disorder data with Audiometry test. The population of this study amounted to 128 people with samples taken amounted to 55 pepole. Bivariate data analysis with Chi Square test (α=0.05).The result of the research showed that noise intensity in the apron area supaseed TLV (Leq=101 dB). Thirty five respondents worked on noisy working environment. A total of 36 respondents (65.5%) of all samples had hearing function disorder. It was found that there was significant influence of noise intensity (p=0.001) with hearing function disorder (RP=42.667%; 95% CI=8.505-214,043). Based on the result of study, it is recommended that the company management provide health counseling about the danger of noise, do health examination regularly, provide and require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for the workers.
