This article proposes a reflection on the possibilities of using games that explore architectural design world of building blocks applied to the universe of Architecture and Urbanism design, both from a literature search and through empirical data collected from a workshop coordinated by the Research Group of Languages and Expressions of Architecture, Urbanism and Design. The objective is to highlight the possibilities and limitations of using the projetual world of building blocks as an academic material for Architecture and Urbanism, especially after the experience of the interactive game Minecraft based on the Grammar Shape.
This article proposes a reflection on the possibilities of using building blocks games as educational tool applied to the universe of Architecture and Urbanism design, from literature search and empirical data gathered in a workshop coordinated by the Research Group of Languages and Expressions in Architecture, Urbanism and Design -LEAUD (Brasil). The goal is to highlight the possibilities and limitations of using projetual world of building blocks as an academic material for Architecture and Urbanism, especially after the experience with LEGO Digital Designer software.
This article addresses the theme of rethoric of design applied to the study of infographics. The main goal is to reveal how the New Rhetoric can contribute with theoretical tools able to substantiate, in conceptual and
The 20th century demonstrated the transformation of cities and architecture, considering diseases and pandemics. With COVID-19, in less than 150 days and around the world, digital explorations emerged and illustrate the architecture transformation, and Latin America was not the exception. These explorations could become design premises for future environments, entertainment design, public spaces, health, and lifestyles after this pandemic. These explorations, supported by digital technology, will also change our ability to respond in an emergency from design, because we will learn to think of new ways to incorporate them into our processes, synchronized with its own evolution.
This paper addresses the issue of the configuration of a network for the digital fabrication of personal protective equipment to fight the pandemic of COVID-19. The main aim is to highlight how creative and innovative design practices, based on digital fabrication, have contributed to combat the new coronavirus in Brazil, concerning the design, production and distribution of face shields. The paper is the result of both exploratory, descriptive and qualitative research. In addition to documentary data and revisiting design literature, this work sought to understand the network formation modus operandi for digital manufacture of face shields, based on examples carried out in every region of the country. In conclusion, it argued that these social mobilization networks are based on the assumptions of the maker culture and reveal the potential for an open, distributed and resilient design to face this contemporary and future crisis.
This paper presents the results of the creation of a game, composed of building blocks, conceived as didactic material for the minimum residences design. The game was designed to be produced by rapid prototyping and digital manufacturing resources. Methodologically, the research was based on both a literature review and an empirical research on the use of a set of building blocks. The text shows the critical analysis and reflections on the results achieved with a workshop entitled "Designing compact homes with building blocks".
