The equation governing the average rate of change of disturbance kinetic energy is evaluated for various wavenumbers at fixed values of Reynolds number, Weber number, and angle of inclination. The dominant energy production term is associated with the work done by the perturbation shear stress at the free surface. The mechanism of instability, however, is associated with a shift of perturbation vorticity relative to the surface displacement resulting from advection.
A 5-year-old boy presented with refractory microcytic anemia, growth failure, and markedly elevated sedimentation rate. Computed tomographic (CT) and upper gastrointestinal study disclosed an ulcerated 9-cm large gastric mass, which proved to be an inflammatory myofibrohistiocytic proliferation (IMP). The characteristic clinical and radiologic features of this rare entity are herein reviewed.
An experimental and analytical study of the reacting flow in a catalytic reactor is presented. Methanol-steam reforming may be utilized in the fuel processing system for hydrogen fuel cells. Understanding the flow and transport phenomena as well as the reaction mechanisms is essential for improving the efficiency of the reforming process as well as the quality of the processed fuel. Utilizing the results obtained, optimized conditions for fuel processing are discussed.
This is the final report of a three-year, Laboratory Directed Research and Development project at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Combustion is the major cause of poor urban air quality, of depletion of the ozone layer,
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
