This study sought to assess the perception of nurses with respect to cancer patients under palliative care. It is an exploratory study with a qualitative approach conducted with nurses from a hospital attending cancer patients under palliative care located in the city of João Pessoa, State of Paraíba. The study included nine nurses who worked in the hospital. The empirical material was collected using the technique of semi-structured interviews and analyzed using the content analysis technique. The interpretative analysis of the interviews led to the definition of three categories: Improving the quality of life through the alleviation of pain and suffering; Palliative Care: a multi-professional study of terminal patients and their families in the grieving process; Communication: a source of dignity in the terminal care process. The conclusion reached is that the study revealed that the nurses involved acknowledge the importance of the multidisciplinary team. It enables the nurses to reflect on the use of communication as an essential element of care for patient and family under palliative care. It is hoped that the data obtained may foster further research on the topic.
A úlcera por pressão é um problema de saúde que repercute com elevados custos e consequências biopsicossociais sobre os portadores. Para reduzir sua incidência, protocolos de prevenção são utilizados, sendo importante enfatizar o impacto desta estratégia sobre as práticas de saúde e na qualidade de vida do paciente. Objetivo: Este artigo objetiva revisar o impacto da utilização de protocolos de prevenção de úlcera por pressão sobre sua incidência e na assistência. Materiais e Métodos: O estudo é de revisão sistemática fundamentado em publicações disponíveis em meio eletrônico. Foram selecionados 07 trabalhos, do período de 2002 a 2010, encontrados nas bases de dados Medline, Lilacs, IBECS e Cochrane, utilizando os descritores "úlcera por pressão ou úlcera de pressão ou escara de decúbito e protocolo". Resultados: Três estudos mostraram redução da incidência de úlcera por pressão de 23 para 5%, 60 para 15%, 43 para 28%, com relato de eficácia do protocolo em 79% dos pacientes. Outros revelaram incidências de 0,2 e 2,77% após aplicação do protocolo. Incidências de 23,5 e 25,8% foram verificadas em unidades intensivas após o uso de protocolos. Ademais, a adoção de protocolos para prevenção de úlcera por pressão é uma decisão estratégica eficaz, que além de diminuir a incidência, otimiza recursos, melhora a qualidade da assistência, fortalece as práticas assistenciais. Conclusão: Os protocolos promovem impactos positivos sobre a prevenção das úlceras por pressão e a qualidade de vida das pessoas, sendo um recurso essencial para um cuidado humanizado pautado nas necessidades de saúde.
Objetivo: Caracterizar a produção científica disponibilizada em periódicos online sobre o Modelo Calgary de Avaliação da Família. Métodos: Pesquisa bibliométrica cuja amostra correspondeu 52 artigos publicados entre 2004 e 2013 em periódicos de enfermagem, nas bases de dados LILACS, BDENF e na Biblioteca Digital SciELO. Dados coletados de março a abril de 2014. Resultados: Os dados evidenciaram que em 2009 teve o maior quantitativo de trabalhos (15.38%). Os periódicos com maior número de publicações foram a Revista de Pesquisa: Cuidado é Fundamental e a Revista da Escola Anna Nery Revista de Enfermagem. O maior quântico dos artigos obtiveram Qualis B2 e B1, com destaque para base de dados LILACS. Quanto à modalidade das publicações predominaram estudos originais. Ressalta-se a titulação de mestre entre os pesquisadores dos estudos. Conclusão: Os resultados evidenciaram a produção científica investigada como uma temática de interesse e crescimento no campo da Enfermagem.
Introduction: palliative care are a type of care directed to people with diseases without therapeutic possibility of cure, guided by a philosophy that emphasizes comprehensive care to the person, as opposed to actions that only seek a cure. According to the WHO, palliative care seeks quality of life of both patients and their families, from measures aimed at the prevention and relief of suffering.Objective: to verify nursing professionals' concept on palliative care and determine how nursing professionals use palliative care in patients without therapeutic possibilities of cure.Method: field study, exploratory, qualitative, conducted with 30 nursing professionals from a public hospital, using a questionnaire, during July and August 2013. Objetivo: Investigar a compreensão de profissionais de enfermagem sobre a finalidade da assistência ao paciente em cuidados paliativos; e identificar recursos adotados pelos participantes da pesquisa direcionados para o paciente na fase final de vida. Método: Pesquisa de campo com abordagem qualitativa, na qual participaram 09 enfermeiros e 09 técnicos de enfermagem, no período de maio a julho de 2019. Para a coleta dos dados utilizou-se a técnica de entrevista semiestruturada. Os dados foram analisados mediante a técnica de análise de conteúdo. Resultados: Da análise do material empírico, emergiram duas categorias: 1- cuidados paliativos têm como objetivo principal a melhoria da qualidade de vida de pacientes com doenças incuráveis e de seus familiares e 2- Recursos utilizados por profissionais de enfermagem para promoção de cuidados paliativos ao paciente na fase final de vida. Conclusão: A equipe de enfermagem reconhece a importância de se investir em recursos que atendam às necessidades que envolvem as dimensões física, psicossocial e espiritual, para a promoção da qualidade de vida do paciente em cuidados paliativos.
