The objective of this study was to analyze the contribution of nursing to patient safety in Brazil. The research method applied the integrative literature review. Databases searched were BDENF, Lilacs, Medline, SciELO and PubMed, by means of the descriptors 'patient safety', 'nursing care' and 'Brazil'. Articles assessed refer to the period 2009-2014, available in Portuguese, English and Spanish. At the end, fifteen articles were selected. The publications evince the existence of nursing positive actions on patient safety. Concluding, the research reflects on the importance of error identification and use of tools to improve the safety culture in Brazilian institutions. KEYWORDS

This study aimed to identify and validate the defining characteristics of the nursing diagnosis Impaired spirituality. The methodological framework proposed by Fehring for the clinical validation of nursing diagnosis was used. The investigation was carried out in a dialysis clinic and had as participants 120 patients with chronic renal disease. Data were collected by two expert nurses, through interviews. The prevalence of the nursing diagnosis Impaired spirituality in the sample was 27.5%. It was found that the most frequent defining characteristics were Expresses behavioral changes: rage, Inability to express creativity, Questions suffering and Expresses alienation. The clinical validation of Impaired spirituality contributed to refine this diagnosis. Its identification in patients with chronic renal disease undergoing dialysis treatment can offer alternatives for a safer and more effective intervention, aiming at the satisfaction of the spiritual needs of these patients.
Objective: to analyze the occurrence of work accidents and the self-esteem of nurses in hospitals of a municipality of Minas Gerais.Method: descriptive-analytical and cross-sectional study developed with 393 nursing professionals from three hospitals of a municipality in southern Minas Gerais. The Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and a questionnaire to characterize the population and work accidents were used for data collection. Data analysis was performed using Person's chi-squared test, Fisher's exact test, Cronbach's alpha, odds ratio and logistic regression.Results: of the professionals studied, 15% had suffered an accident at work and 70.2% presented high self-esteem. Through the analysis, it was observed that smoking, religious belief and an outstanding event in the career were significantly associated with work accidents. In relation to self-esteem, family income, length of time working in the profession and an outstanding event in the career presented significant associations.Conclusion: factors such as smoking, religious belief, family income, length of time working in the profession and an outstanding event in the career can cause professionals to have accidents and/or cause changes in self-esteem, which can compromise their physical and mental health and their quality of life and work.

Este estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar de acuerdo a la perspectiva de las enfermeras, los factores o dificultades que limitan la aplicación de sistematización de la asistencia de enfermería relacionados con la gestión de recursos humanos en los hospitales donde trabajan. <br /><br />Se trata de un estudio cualitativo, basado en el marco de la hermenéutica-dialéctica. La muestra estuvo conformada por 32 enfermeras de tres hospitales en una ciudad en el sur de Minas Gerais. Se utilizó el grupo focal con la pregunta guía: "¿La gestión de los recursos humanos en enfermería conlleva dificultades en la implementación de la sistematización de la atención de enfermería?". Después de las entrevistas, los discursos fueron transcritos totalmente. El análisis de contenido permitió extraer la gestión de categorías de los recursos humanos y las dificultades para la sistematización de la asistencia de enfermería en el trabajo diario de enfermería. <br /><br />Los resultados mostraron que puntos de dificultad tales como: reducción del número de empleados, el absentismo, la rotación y la falta de compromiso con la profesión, donde establecer un dimensionado correspondiente del marco de enfermería es esencial para asegurar la excelencia de la asistencia al cliente. Sin embargo, para la puesta en marcha con éxito de la sistematización de la asistencia de enfermería es necesario tener en cuenta el número de personal de enfermería, la asistencia de la complejidad requerida por los pacientes e incluso superar la resistencia de algunas enfermeras que todavía no entienden la sistematización de la asistencia de enfermería como un respaldo legal de la profesión.<br /><br />
RESUMOObjetivo: avaliar as características socioeconômicas, epidemiológicas e laborais de profissionais de enfermagem hospitalar. Método: tratase de um estudo descritivo, transversal e quantitativo, desenvolvido com 393 profissionais de enfermagem de três instituições hospitalares. Para levantamento dos dados, utilizou-se um questionário sociodemográfico e para análise descritiva o software Statistical Package for the Social Science. Resultados: percebeu-se quanto às características socioeconômicas que a maioria dos profissionais estudados é do sexo feminino, entre 30 e 39 anos, é casada ou convive com companheiros e possui renda familiar mensal de 1.500 a 3.000 reais. Quanto às características epidemiológicas, notou-se que a maioria dos profissionais não consome bebida alcoólica, nem cigarros, sendo que grande parte deles não pratica exercícios, não possui doenças crônicas e não faz uso de medicamentos. Com relação às atividades laborais, grande parte da amostra foi composta por técnicos de enfermagem que trabalhavam no período noturno, tinham carga horária de 42 horas semanais e atuavam em outro vínculo empregatício. Conclusão: ao conhecer os diferentes aspectos desses trabalhadores, facilita-se a coordenação de enfermagem ao instituir medidas que proporcionem melhor adaptação no trabalho e, consequentemente, a qualidade de vida do trabalhador e da assistência prestada aos usuários.
