Mango consumers only use pulp and consider the kernel as wastes. This study aims to valorize the kernel of mango (Mangifera indica). In this study, the kernel of ten mango varieties (Ruby, Kent, Retard, Key, Assabony, Smith tête de chat, Smith normal, Palmer, Governeur and Aravia) collected at Yamoussoukro in the center of Cote d'Ivoire were used. The oils of these kernels were extracted by maceration method. Their physicochemical properties were determinate using standard methods. The yields of oils extracted are higher than 10%. The acid value of these oils varies from 2.50±0.25 to 27.06±0.35 mg of KOH/g, the saponification value ranges between 164.17±1.30 and 199.21±0.32 mg of KOH/g, iodine value varies from 36.38±0.96 to 54.46±0.54 g of iodine per 100 g of fat and the refractive index ranges between 1.458±0.001 and 1.480±0.002. The water and volatile matter content are varying between 1.08±0.19 and 12.30±0.46%. The study of the lipid composition of these fats showed a significant presence of fatty acid and unsaponifiables. The major fatty acids are palmitic acid (6.77-12.80%), stearic acid (36.36-45.76%), oleic acid (43.20-52.42%) and arachidic acid (0.85-1.65%). The major unsaponifiables are ergosterol (1.94%), sitosterol (78.65%), stigmasterol (10.67%), campesterol (5.33%) and 3-hydroxy-pregn-5-en-20-one (3.39%). The results of the study indicated that mango kernel oils could be used in cosmetics and also in human nutrition for prevention against arteriosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases.

Les tourteaux de safou obtenus après déshuilage ne sont généralement pas exploités. C'est pour cela que cette étude a été menée afin de les valoriser. Pour ce faire, les tourteaux de la pulpe et de l'amande des fruits du safoutier (Dacryodes edulis) ont été étudiés pour leurs compositions biochimiques et phytochimique. Ces tourteaux ont été obtenus après déshuilage de la pulpe et de l'amande (extraction sous presse, macération et extraction au soxhlet). L'analyse des résultats a montré que les différents tourteaux de la pulpe contiennent en moyenne 12,01% de matières grasses, 9,75% de protéines et 26,93% de glucides. Quant aux tourteaux de l'amande obtenus uniquement après macération et au soxhlet, ils renferment 4,65% de matières grasses, 5% de protéines et 20,06% de glucides. Cette analyse a indiqué aussi que les minéraux tels que le phosphore, le potassium, le calcium, le manganèse et le fer ont une teneur qui varie de 0 à 2 mg/100g MS dans les tourteaux de la pulpe et de l'amande. De même, la teneur en zinc, en magnésium et en cuivre varie de 1 à 5 mg/100g MS. Concernant la teneur en sodium, elle est comprise entre 20 et 28 mg / 100 g de MS pour les tourteaux de la pulpe contre 14 et 17 mg /100 g de MS pour les tourteaux de l'amande. De plus, cette étude a permis de révéler la présence de polyphénols, de flavonoïdes, d'alcaloïdes, de terpènes et de stérols dans les tourteaux. En outre, le tourteau de l'amande dégraissée par macération contient une teneur élevée en polyphénols totaux (1,81 mg/g EAG) et en flavonoïdes totaux (3,01 mg/gEQ) que les autres tourteaux. En somme, la présence de composés bioactifs dans les tourteaux de safou pourraient justifier son utilisation dans le domaine alimentaire et médicinale.

Boiled aqueous extract from five Ivorian edible leaves (Solanum scabrum, Ipomea batatas, Corchorus olitorius, Basella alba, Hibiscus sabdariffa) have been analyzed for their antioxidant contents, phytochemical and nutritional compositions. I. batata extract showed the highest amount of antioxidant (167.52 µg/100gTE), total polyphenol (34.18 mg/100 g TE) and total flavonoid (12.67 mg/100g TE). The higher energy value (225.5 kcal) was obtained in S. scrabrum extract. The highest amount of zinc and potassium were found in S. scrabrum extract (0.28 and 362.1 mg/100 g DW; respectively). Maximum amount of copper (1.16 mg/100 g DW) and calcium (777.9 mg/100 g DW) were obtained in H. sabdariffa extract. The highest content of iron (49.81 mg/100 g DW) and magnesium (201 mg/100 g DW) were observed in B. alba extract. The highest content of sodium (2.39 mg/100 g DW) was obtained in C. olitorius extract. All extracts contained secondary metabolites such as polyphenols (tannins, flavonoids), sterols and terpenes, which have medicinal potent.

Furthermore, a KPI-based identification of best performing network-partners allows an initiation of Best-Practice transfers to gain sustainable competitive advantages for the whole network. Based on a methodological approach, the identification of collaboration potentials and Best-Practices is supported by software tools that visualize the results in an understandable and applicable way.

The red aqueous beverages of Carapa procera (D.C.) leaf extracts were investigated for their polyphenol contents using HPLC-DAD, HPLC-ESI-MS, and semipreparative HPLC. Polyphenols were extracted, clarified, and concentrated using a multistep process including ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE), cross-flow microfiltration (CFM), and reverse osmosis (RO). On the basis of analytical and semipreparative chromatographic techniques, 12 phenolic compounds were identified and quantified for the first time: 2 anthocyanins (cyanidin 3-O-glucoside and cyanidin 3-O-rutinoside), 5 phenolic acids (protocatechuic, the three caffeoylquinic isomers, and coumaroylquinic acid), and 5 flavonols (quercetin 3-O-rutinoside, quercetin 3-O-galactoside, quercetin 3-O-glucoside, quercetin aglycone, and kaempferol 3-O-rutinoside). From the concentrated extract, it was possible to recover for anthocyanins (28.4 ± 0.3 µmol L−1 cyanidin equivalents) the two glycosides of cyanidin, for flavonols (1587 ± 3 µmol L−1 quercetin equivalents) the two glycosides of quercetin and kaempferol, and for phenolic acids (3650 ± 10 µmol L−1 gallic acid equivalents) chlorogenic and protocatechuic acids.

Aims: This work aims to compare the chemical composition and the antioxidant capacity of the leaves, stems and roots of Alchornea cordifolia. Study design: The leaves, stems and roots of Alchornea cordifolia were harvested during the month of August 2020 in the botanical garden of the University Jean Lorougnon Guede in Daloa. After that, they were dried in the shade for 17 days. Subsequently, they were crushed and kept in jars in order to be sent to the Laboratory of Industrial Processes, Synthesis, Environment and New Energies (LAPISEN) of Yamoussoukro (Côte d'Ivoire), for analyzes. Place and duration of study: This study was carried out during september to december 2020 in Laboratory of Industrial Processes, Synthesis, Environment and New Energies (LAPISEN) of Yamoussoukro (Côte d'Ivoire) Methodology: Physicochemical parameters (pH, ° Brix, MS) and the mineral contents of leave, stem and root aqueous extracts were determined by classic methods. Then, phytochemical screening are carried out by TLC analysis followed by spectrophotometric assay of total polyphenols, total flavonoids and antioxidant activity. Results: The results showed that the aqueous extract from A. cordifolia leaves, stems and roots are all acidic (pH ≤ 5.33). However, these extracts contain a low level of dry matter. The measured minerals (Na, Ca, Mg, Mn, K, Fe; Cu and Zn) are present in these extracts at varying concentrations. The leaf extract is richer in Fe (8.28 ppm), Ca (1.71 ppm), Mn (1.17 ppm) and K (0.55 ppm). In contrast, the root extract contains more Na (18.38 ppm), Cu (0.75 ppm) and Mg (0.34 ppm). As for the phytochemical screening revealed the presence of coumarins, flavonoids, sterols and terpenes, in the aqueous extract of all organs, except tannins, absent in the roots. However, the leaves have the highest content of polyphenols (256.67 mg.g-1 GAE) and flavonoids (92.75 mg.g-1 QE), as well as the best antioxidant capacity (204.23 µmol.L -1 TE). Conclusion: The leaves, stems and roots of A. cordifolia contain practically the same chemical compounds with a few exceptions. However, the difference lies in the concentration of these compounds in the different extracts.
