Cette recherche porte sur la capacité des adolescents, vivant dans des conditions précaires, à se réaliser et à être reconnus grâce à la participation à des ateliers d’art dans un système scolaire compétitif et une société post-esclavagiste complexe : l’île Maurice. Leurs difficultés sont mises en évidence et les défis de leurs quêtes à être reconnus sont analysés. La synthèse de dix études de cas d’adolescents de 13 à 15 ans est effectuée à partir de l’observation systématique de leurs comportements dans ces ateliers et de l’analyse de leurs discours sur leurs projets professionnels. Les contributions qu’ils souhaitent apporter à leur famille et à leur voisinage, par le biais de leurs projets professionnels, sont envisagées en relation avec les compétences professionnelles qu’ils veulent développer. Ils aspirent à devenir des modèles pour leur famille malgré les troubles auxquels ils sont confrontés.
Le dispositif des Lieux d’éducation associés à l’Institut Français d’éducation (LéA) accompagne et formalise la mise en œuvre d’espaces de travail collectifs alliant des chercheurs en éducation et des acteurs de terrain (professeurs et éducateurs) pour traiter des problématiques éducatives. Les auteurs utilisent le concept de communauté de pratique pour analyser le fonctionnement de trois LéA ; les fonctions prises par les membres et leur contribution aux processus de participation et de réification qui assurent le développement de l’entreprise commune, de l’engagement mutuel et du répertoire partagé (Wenger, 1998 ; Bourhis et Tremblay, 2004). Les analyses des observations et entretiens conduits dans trois LéA, selon une méthode de micro-ethnographie organisationnelle, ont permis de développer un modèle fonctionnel de la collaboration pour chaque LéA. Ce modèle met en exergue les fonctions déterminantes prises par les membres (en fonction des rôles définis par le dispositif) pour assurer l’ancrage institutionnel des communautés de pratique et la collaboration entre les membres pour produire des ressources (pédagogiques, formatives ou des données de recherche) sur les problématiques de recherche travaillées. Le modèle représente également un outil pour valoriser l’investissement et la contribution de chaque membre au sein des LéA. Il ouvre par ailleurs des perspectives pour explorer la genèse des ressources produites et l’identification de nouvelles fonctions essentielles pour favoriser la synergie dans le réseau des LéA.
