This study aims to determine the implementation, influence, and factors affecting the implementation of the program in SMP Negeri 2 Waingapu. This research type is evaluative research by using a qualitative method. The evaluation program model used is a goal-free evaluation model. Interviews, observations, and document studies are techniques used for data collection. Data validity test is done with triangulation, technique and data source triangulation. The results showed that 1) the implementation of character education program in SMP Negeri 2 Waingapu has not been optimal yet, either in terms of planning, implementation or evaluation; 2) the effect of the program on integrating character values in Mathematics is positive on student achievement and behavior but also negative on teacher workload; 3) factors which affect the program are: facilities and infrastructures, information access, teachers, students.
This study aims to describe critical thinking skills, identify factors that affect critical thinking skills and recommend follow-up plans to overcome students' low critical thinking ability to complete class VII set operations problems at Waingapu City Junior High School. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data collection uses tests, interviews and documentation studies. The subjects in the study were 30 students of class VII junior high school in Waingapu City. The results found that the average critical thinking ability of students was 37.29 and was in the low category. There are several factors that affect students' critical thinking skills, including lack of relearning of the material that has been obtained, mastery of mathematical concepts, learning interests and students' thoroughness in working on problems. The recommendations of actions taken by teachers are reviewing the basic concepts of mathematics, designing learning devices and training students to work on story problems and learning motivation.
Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat dalam bentuk pelatihan penggunaan GeoGebra ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman guru terkait penggunaan aplikasi GeoGebra dan meningkatkan keterampilan para guru di SMP Negeri 1 Waingapu dalam mengembangkan media pembelajaran Matematika menggunakan GeoGebra. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah metode presentasi, tanya jawab, dan demonstrasi. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah terjadinya peningkatan pengetahuan guru Matematika terhadap penggunaan GeoGebra, serta peningkatan keterampilan para guru tersebut dalam menggunakan aplikasi GeoGebra untuk membuat perangkat pembelajaran Matematika. Media pembelajaran yang dihasilkan melalui kegiatan pengabdian ini diharapkan dapat menambah koleksi media pembelajaran yang telah dimiliki oleh sekolah. meningkatkan motivasi, dan hasil belajar Matematika di SMP Negeri 1 Waingapu.
According to the national examination (UN) scores for Junior High School in East Sumba in 2019, it can be seen that the percentage of student’s math scores based on the comparison of test scores with graduation standards is still very low. In view of the problem, studies are conducted to describe a student’s error, describing the factors that cause students to make mistakes in solving problems, and planning follow-up actions to minimize student errors when operating addition and subtraction of algebraic fraction. This type of research is qualitative approach. The technique of determining the student’s research subject uses the cluster sampling technique with sample 5 students. The technique of collecting data is done by writing tests, interviews and documentary studies. The results showed that according to Newman’s five types of errors, student made 5 types of errors, and the most common mistakes were in encoding error of 1,53%, then processing skill error 2,33%; transformation error 2,5%; comprehension error and reading error 3,1%.
Salah satu bentuk pelaksanaan kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat yang dilaksanakan oleh dosen Prodi Pendidikan Matematika Universitas Kristen Wira Wacana Sumba adalah memberikan pendampingan bagi siswa calon peserta KSN-P. Dengan adanya pandemi COVID-19 sehingga mempengaruhi tingkat pemahaman siswa terkait materi Fisika. Oleh karena itu diperlukan kegiatan pendampingan sehingga dapat meningkatkan pemahaman siswa calon peserta KSN-P. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi kepada siswa melalui proses pendampingan, sehingga dapat terjadi peningkatan kompetensi yang dibutuhkan untuk menyelesaikan soal-soal KSN-P. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan PkM ini adalah dengan memberikan pendampingan menggunakan metode ceramah dan pengerjaan latihan-latihan soal dengan durasi waktu yang dibatasi untuk membiasakan siswa dengan soal-soal KSN-P. Hasil dari pelaksanaan PkM ini menunjukkan bahwa telah terjadi peningkatan kompetensi pada siswa calon peserta KSN-P, baik pada konsep-konsep Fisika maupun pada keterampilan untuk menggunakan persamaan-persamaan Matematika yang dibutuhkan dalam penyelesaian soal. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan PkM ini telah mencapai tujuan yang direncanakan.
