The objectives of this trial were to evaluate the efficacy of oregan extract (OE), as growth promoter, in the diets, on performance, immune system (bursa Fabricius weight and volume, spleen weight and thymus weight), anatomic-physiological parameters of the gastrointestinal tract (villy height, crypta depth and villy:crypta ratio), caecum microbiological analysis, and duodenum and caecum pH. One thousand and fourty male Cobb 500 chicks, in two growing phases (1 to 21 and 1 to 42 days old) were randomly assigned to six treatments and eight replicates of 30 broilers. The basal diet (BD) was fed during the three phases (1 to 21, 22 to 35 and 36 to 42 days old), according to the following treatments: T1 -BD, T2 -BD with antibiotic (25 ppm zinc bacitracin), T3 -BD with 0.025% OE, T4 -BD with 0.050% OE, T5 -BD with 0.075% OE, and T6 -BD with 0.100% OE. No effect of treatments on broiler performance and duodenum and caecum pH in both phases was observed. The immunity system and anatomic-physiological parameters of gastrointestinal tract were not affected by the treatments, during the first phase. At 42 days old, only the spleen weight and villy height were affected by treatments. Dec...
As curvas de crescimento foram determinadas aplicando-se os dados na função Growth curves and deposition of body components in pullets of different strains ABSTRACT -The growth curves of egg pullets of semi heavy: Hy Line Brown (HLB) and Hisex Brown (HSB) and light strains: Hy Line W36 (HLW36) and Hisex White (HSW) were evaluated. Three hundred birds of each strain were assigned to a completely randomized design with four replicates of 75 birds. Body weight (BW), feather weight (FW) and body depositions of protein, fat, ash and water were weekly measured. The growth curves were determined by Gompertz function with data collections. The semi heavy birds were later than the light ones for BW, with greater body growth rates and weights at maturity. The HLW36 were 64.23 g lighter at maturity than the HSW. Data obtained for feather growth and protein deposition were similar, but the semi heavy birds showed greater weight at maturity (WM) than the light ones. However, for these components, the birds Hy Line had larger depositions than Hisex. HLW36 strain had smaller feather rate at maturity, making it three days later than HSW. The lowest protein deposition in the end of growth period caused the deviation of energy ingested for fat deposition in HSB birds and overestimated the WM in relation to HLB birds. Hy Line birds had later body ash composition and showed greater WM than Hisex. Among the studied variables, Hy Line birds had always heavier WM, however, the body water content of Hisex birds was greater and the maximum rates at maturity were later. This fact explains the similarity in the weight gain among the studied strains, once other body components were greater for Hy Line birds.
Palavras-chave: cálcio, cinza óssea, digestibilidade ileal, fósforo, resistência óssea, tíbia Effect of phytase suplementation on performance and nutrient digestibility in diets of broilers ABSTRACT -A total of 520 1-d old male broiler chicks (Cobb) was fed a corn-soy-fat-free rice meal diet to evaluate the effect of phytase suplementation on performance and nutrient digestibility. The experiment was analyzed as a completely randomized experimental design with five treatments, eight replications of 13 broilers per replication. The percentage composition of the experimental diets were: positive control (PC) with 3000 kcalME/kg; 21.4% CP; 0.42% Pd and 0.96% Ca and negative control (NC) with 2940 kcalME/kg; 21.2% CP; 0.27% Pd and 0.90% Ca. Three levels of supplementation of Fitase 5000 Ouro Fino to NC diets: 500, 750 and 1,000 phytase units/kg of diet (ftu/kg) and their effects on uniformity, feed intake, weight gain, feed conversion, digestibility of dry matter, crude protein, Ca, P and energy digestible (DE), %DM and % as fed, and the concentration of Ca and P and bone resistance in tight of broilers at 20 days of age. The P digestibility of the diets with lower nutritional levels was inferior to the PC diets. The phytase supplementation improved P and DE digestibility, since the coefficients improved with the...
ABSTRACT:The objective of this study was to evaluate the quality and the production of biogas and biofertilizer obtained from biodigester supplied with pig feces in the initial, growing and finishing stages, fed with diets formulated based on corn or sorghum. Twenty bench biodigesters were used with hydraulic retention time of 30 days and daily loads that contained 4 to 6% of total solids (TS) and 3.6 to 5.2% of volatile solids (VS). In the effluent of the biodigesters, mean levels of TS were observed ranging between 1.6 and 2.0% and of VS between 1.2 and 1.6%. The mean reductions of TS were 57.7 to 64.7% and of VS from 61.7 to 69.0%, and there was only difference in the finishing phase, in which the major averages reductions were produced by the biodigesters supplied with feces from animals fed with diets based on corn. In biodigesters supplied with feces from animals in the initial and growing stages fed with diets based on corn, were observed higher average productions of biogas and the greatest average potentials of biogas production. The average potentials obtained were 0.033; 0.181; 0.685; 0.788 and 1.132 m 3 per kg of affluent, manure, TS added, VS added and VS reduced, respectively. No differences were found on the average content of methane in the biogas between diets and stages. The average concentrations of nutrients N, P, K, Ca, Mg, Na, Fe, Mn, Zn and Cu in the biodigester affluent and effluent, ranged between diets and stages.KEYWORDS: biodigesters, biogas, pig feces, environmental impact.
ABSTRACTThis work aims to evaluate the effect of environmental temperature and feather covering on the performance of two layingtype lines pullets from (10 to 13 weeks old). Four hundred and eighteen Hy-line pullets, 240 birds of each strain W-36 (light) and Brown (semi heavy) were housed in five temperature controlled rooms at 12, 18, 24, 30 and 36ºC. At each temperature three feather coverings were evaluated: 100% (no plucked), 50% (50% of the body plucked) and 0% (feathers removed). The statistical analysis was according to a 5 x 3 x 2 factorial scheme with 5 temperatures, 3 feather coverings and 2 strains. The data were analyzed by polynomial regression. The brown strain presented higher feed intake than the white strain at all temperatures. The decrease in feed intake with the temperature increase promoted reduction in body weight. The temperature comfort zone of W-36 was greater (18.33ºC to 32.00ºC) than the brown strain (23.75ºC to 29.50ºC).Index terms: Environment temperature, feather covering, performance, pullets lines.
