This study is experiment research with control group pre test- post test design and aimed to examine the influence of PQ4R strategy and Refutation Text, school level, and students mathematical prior knowledge toward achievement and enhancement of students mathematical communication ability and Self Regulated Learning. Subject of study as much as 241 students of class X from three Public Senior High Schools from high, medium and low school level. Research instrument consist of one set of students mathematical communication, and one set of students Self Regulated Learning scale. Data analysis use Kosmogorov-Smirnov Test (Tes-Z), Test Leven, Test-t, ANOVA one-way and two-way, Post Hoc Test (Scheffe) and also Chi-Square Test. The study found that learning with PR4R strategy accompanied by Refutation Text Reading give consistent influence compared with conventional learning influence whether is viewed as a whole, based on school level as well as mathematical initial knowledge. In addition, the study also found: (1) there is no interaction between learning (PQ4R) accompanied by Refutation Text reading and conventional) and school level toward (a) students mathematical communication and (b) students Self Regulated Learning; (2) there is no significant interaction between learning and students mathematical prior knowledge toward (a) students mathematical communication ability and (b) students Self Regulated Learning; and (3) there is association between students mathematical communication ability and students Self Regulated Learning. Keywords : PQ4R, refutation text, mathematical communication, self regulated learning
The study aims*to identify students’ concepts understanding in the material of uniformly changing straight motion in SMA Negeri 1 Tanah Pinoh. The study used a survey method without a comparison class that is descriptive correlative. The research instrument was a multiple-choice diagnostic test with three answer choices, ten questions were about conceptual understanding, and ten questions were about learning outcomes test. The validation of the*learning outcomes test was 3.36 with valid criteria, while the reliability of the learning outcomes test was 0.44 with the medium category. The result found that the students’ concepts understanding was classified low with an*average percentage of 31.39%. The students’ concepts understanding with the highest percentage is in the interpretation aspect of 41.67% with a sufficient category, and the minor percentage is in exploration aspects with 31.39%. The study did not find a correlation of rcount 0,360 < rtable 0,179 between conceptual understanding and learning outcomes. Therefore, the understanding concept becomes an essential principle for achieving physics learning outcomes. The study also found that there had not been any difference among gender as indicated by the results of the MannWhitney test (P> 0.05), with the analysis results showing that female students were higher than male students in the aspects of translation and extrapolation. While, in the interpretation aspects, male students are higher than female students. Thus, the results of this study are expected to be a consideration for determining the learning model to improve students' concepts understanding. Keywords: Concept Understanding, Gender, Learning Outcome.
The main purpose of research is whether the representation of mathematical ability of students increased after learning gained through the program Mathematical Maple combined with cooperative learning Think Pair Share on lectures of Mathematical Physics. Subjects were students of third semester of physical education courses with the number of 35 students. The method used is a Class Action Research conducted through three cycles or actions which each cycle. The research instrument consists of: test, questionnaire, and observation guidelines. Based on data analysis concluded: (1) the ability of the representation of the students in understanding the meaning of the physical, the ability of representation of students to represent the mathematical equation in the form of graphs, the ability of the representation of the students in giving meaning physical on the results of visualization, and the ability of the representation of the students in understanding the course materials Mathematical Physics increase in each cycle or action; (2) the implementation process using computer-aided applications maple in the first cycle having problems because the students have never known the computer-assisted program maple, but in the next cycle students were able to adjust the maple program that is being used; and (3) the response of students to the course of action given the overall increase in each cycle. Keywords: Ability Representation, Think Pair Share.
This study aims to improve the learning achievement of class VII students of SMP Negeri 20 Pontianak on temperature and changes by applying a guided inquiry model. This study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. Determination of the sample in this study using the Intact Group Random Sampling method with the number of class VII E SMP Negeri 20 Pontianak as many as 29 students. To see whether there is an influence in using the guided inquiry model on student learning outcomes at SMP Negeri 20 Pontianak, the classes selected to be sampled are VII E and VII F where class VII E is the control class and VII F is the experimental class. . The research instrument is a google form test to measure student achievement about temperature and change. Based on the data analyzed by Wilcoxon, there was an increase in student achievement from 33.7 to 77.5. The effectiveness of the application of "The Guided Inquiry Model" in learning physics is shown by the effect size of 3.15. That is a high category according to Cohen's category. Keywords: Guided Inquiry, Students Achievement, Temperature and changes
The purpose of this study to identify student's multi-representation ability about work at MA Negeri Bengkayang. The method used is the survey method without comparative group which is descriptive correlative with research instrument in the form of descriptive test on the multi-representation ability test of five questions and multiple-choice test on the learning outcomes test often questions. the validity of the multi-representation test was 3.45 whit valid criteria and the validity of the learning outcomes test was 3.52 with valid criteria Meanwhile, the reliability of the multi-representation test was 0.516 in the sufficient category and the reliability of the learning outcomes test was 0.55 in the sufficient category. The study found that the multi-representation ability of students was low with an average percentage of 33.08%. The multi-representation ability of students with the highest percentage is in the image to symbol representation type, which is 75%, while the multi-representation ability of students with the lowest percentage is in the verbal to mathematical representation type, which is 5.19%. This study also did not found a correlation (r count 0.04 > r table 0.4848) between multi-representation ability and student's learning outcomes. The result of this study is expected to be taken into consideration in determining learning strategies. Keywords: Work, Multi-representation Ability, Learning Outcomes
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
