Experimental larval rearing of the Japanese sea cucumber in a mini plant in Severnaya bay (Slavyansky bay, Sea of Japan) was carried out. The experiment did not reveal any relevant difference in time or speed of reaching different larval development stages or survival rate of the sea cucumber either with the diet supplemented with pigmented yeast Rhodotorula benthica or when fed with the Chaetoceros muelleri and Dunaliella salina phytoplankton. In the lack of the traditional phytoplankton-based fodder, it appears relevant and feasible for the aquaculture enterprises to use such fodder replacement options as Rhodotorula benthica marine pigmented yeast, a non-pathological species with low production cost that does not require any sophisticated cultivation techniques, easy to use and generally yielding a highly predictable production result.
The cultivation conditions influence on the Rhodotorula benthica yeast biomass growth was studied. Methodological recommendations for the yeast biomass cultivation and practical recommendations for the Rhodotorula benthica yeast use as a substitute feed base for the Far Eastern trepang growing larvae and juveniles have been developed. The work results will serve as a basis for the new effective approaches formation to the forage resources organization and echinoderms nutrition during commercial cultivation at mariculture enterprises; will allow replacing the traditional food base (microalgae) with a more economically and functionally effective food type.
Under the conditions of an increasing anthropogenic load on marine ecosystems, bottom and pelagic communities can undergo significant changes, and even cardinal rearrangements. To assess coastal waters state and their further changes, information is needed both about individual components and ecosystems as a whole. Some biological characteristics of Far Eastern sea cucumber, gray sea urchin and scallop from different water areas have been investigated. At present, an urgent task is the artificial reproduction of aquatic organisms in order to preserve their number in natural populations by reducing the fishing pressure on them. An effective way of aquatic organisms replenishing natural accumulations and obtaining marketable products is technologies development and implementation for juveniles cultivation in factory conditions using feed preparations. The quality of probiotic supplements was assessed for compliance with regulatory documents requirements, as well as those declared by the manufacturer. This work results will serve as the basis for eco-friendly mariculture enterprises creation for the cultivation of aquatic organisms, taking into account the need for natural resources rational use and environmental protection.
