Este trabalho revisita as Conferências Nacionais de Juventude no Brasil para conhecer as demandas e percepções sobre direitos de jovens militantes, especialmente os direitos relativos à educação e trabalho. O objetivo é pensar de que modo a construção de um campo institucional e legal tem funcionado como instrumento de mobilização para os jovens, em geral, lutarem pela ampliação de seus direitos. A conclusão é que o processo de escuta da juventude organizada é uma importante contribuição ao debate, sobretudo por ampliar temáticas e visibilizar os novos sujeitos de direitos surgidos no ciclo recente de políticas públicas de juventude no país, que parece se encerrar em 2016 com a ruptura ocorrida no Governo Federal e a consequente extinção de inúmeros programas e políticas que vinham garantindo, ainda que timidamente, a expansão dos direitos dos jovens brasileiros.
O artigo discute a situação e os direitos educacionais dos jovens privados de liberdade no Brasil, bem como os desafios para a legitimação do direito à educação nas prisões, tendo por base duas pesquisas realizadas pela Linha de Políticas Públicas do Programa de Pós-graduação em Educação da Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro – UNIRIO. A primeira é uma análise das demandas apresentadas na II Conferência Nacional de Juventude, ocorrida em Brasília, em dezembro de 2011, e a segunda, realizada em 2010, refere-se ao perfil dos estudantes do ProJovem Prisional no estado do Rio de Janeiro e no Acre. As trajetórias educacionais dos jovens, cotejadas com seu potencial conjunto de demandas em educação, explicitam o imenso desafio de integrar ações e construir um novo olhar sobre esses atores, na condição de jovens sujeitos de direitos. Nesse contexto, distintas configurações de políticas vêm buscando se estabelecer: por um lado, uma nova geração de programas de apoio; por outro, a necessidade de se responder às demandas desses sujeitos, trazendo-os à condição de interlocutores nas decisões que lhes dizem respeito, a fim de romper a invisibilidade a que vêm sendo historicamente submetidos.Palavras-chave: educação prisional; demandas juvenis; ProJovem Prisional.
Este relato resulta da experiência de um projeto de extensão da Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO), que acompanhou algumas ocupações em escolas de ensino médio em 2016, e ouviu tanto estudantes que participavam quanto outros que não participavam desse movimento social. O objetivo foi entender as motivações e seguir as atividades no cotidiano das ocupações, dialogando com pesquisas sobre ativismo juvenil no recente ciclo de políticas públicas de juventude no Brasil. Interessa refletir sobre as questões colocadas por essas novas formas de participação política, pois tocam em temas centrais sobre o sentido da educação para os jovens de hoje. Afinal, a pergunta que as ocupações colocavam era: qual é a escola que queremos? Isso implicava refletir sobre os dilemas da escola que tinham.
