During plant inventory work in the forested areas of Mt Mesehe and Mt Merbuk, Jembrana district, Bali, twenty orchid species were collected. Among the species collected, five were confirmed as new records for Bali. The five newly recorded species are Calanthe zollingeri Rchb.f., Plocoglottis plicata (Roxb.) Ormerod, Podochilus serpyllifolius (Blume) Lindl., Styloglossum speciosum (Blume) T.Yukawa & P.J.Cribb, and Vanilla albida Blume. Descriptions of taxa and images are provided.
An exploration and inventory of orchid plant was carried out in Wawonii Island, South-east Celebes. The aim of the study was to know about orchid diversity in the area, because no fi eld survey conducted since 1940. For that reason all orchid species fi nding were collected as life collection for planted in the Bogor Botanical Garden and dried collection for stored in the Herbarium Bogoriense. Ninety one orchid species were recorded and 36 species of them were new record of Celebes. Out of 1 species Trichoglottis javanica J. J. Sm. was recognized as endemic of Java. Five species orchid were endemic in Celebes, there are Bulbophyllum balapiuense J.J.Sm., Hyppeophyllum celebicum Schltr., Oberonia exaltata Schltr., Thrixspermum celebicum Schltr. and Malaxis lombasangensis (J.J.Sm.) S. Thomas Schut. and de Vogel.
Abstract. Praptiwi, Sulistiarini D, Qodrie ENP, Sahroni D. 2021. Antibacterial activity, antioxidant potential, total phenolic and flavonoids of three plant species of Rubiaceae from Banggai Island, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 22: 2773-2778. The present study was carried out to study the antioxidant and antibacterial potential of different plant parts (stems, leaves, and fruit) of the family Rubiaceae (Timonius celebicus, Psychotria celebica, Gardenia mutabilis) collected from the Banggai Islands. Screening of antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli and antioxidant potential was carried out by Thin Layer Chromatography- Bioautography. Determination of IC50 and Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) was carried out by microdilution in a 96-well microplate. Total phenolic and total flavonoid content was determined by the colorimetric method. Total phenolic (TPC) and total flavonoid content (TFC) was varied from 29.78-380.99 mg GAE/g extract and 105.61-841.18 mg QE/g extract, respectively. The antioxidant capacity of three plant species was varied from moderate to very strong. Antioxidant Activity Index (AAI) was found more affected by TFC than TPC. The antibacterial activity of the extract against E. coli was weak, while some extracts have moderate antibacterial activity against S. aureus
Three variations of Arundina graminifolia flowers have been recognized, (1) group of big flower with reddish violet lip and purplelish white sepals and petals (2) group of small flower with white lip and white sepals and petals (3) similar to second variation but with purple color on the lip apex. In order to clarify the taxonomy status of those three variations, a leaf anatomical study had been carried out. Results of this study showed that there were some differences among them in trichome shape and number mesophyll layers. Big flower group of Arundina has trichome club shape and thick mucous in the apex with mesophyll layer 9-11; for small flower group has white lip, trichome club shape, thick mucous and granulate in the apex, but only 2 mesophyl layers; whereas for other small flower group with purple lip has trichome cup shape and 10-13 layers of mesophyll. Based on the differences in flower size and their color variation, and combined with leaf anatomical study, we suggested the three variations of A. graminifolia should be in separated groups.

Selviana, Eddy Nurtjahya & Diah Sulistiarini. 2019. Jenis-jenis Anggrek (Orchidaceae) di Hutan Rawa Gambut Kabupaten Belitung. Floribunda 6(2): 72–80.
