The Effect of Climate Change on Hydrometeorological Disasters in Cisarua District -Bogor Regency]. Hydrometeorological events dominated disasters in Indonesia from 2010 to 2020, such as floods, cyclones, and landslides. The hydrometeorological catastrophe cannot be separated from the consequences of climate change. Cisarua District, one of the areas in Bogor Regency, is at risk for hydrometeorological disasters. On the other hand, tourism and settlement development are increasing. The purpose of this study was to look into the effect of climate change on hydrometeorological disasters in Cisarua District, Bogor Regency. This study employs a qualitative methodology. The data used were primary data from informant interviews and secondary data from data/information from relevant agencies and literature studies. This study indicates changes in temperature in Cisarua District -Bogor Regency during the last ten years, namely 0.61ºC. It is still within normal limits compared to international standards issued by the Framework Convention on Climate Change of the United Nations, namely the maximum increase in earth temperature 1.5ºC. Rainfall there is classified as moderate. However, the trend of hydrometeorological disasters there tends to increase. This study concludes that climate change during the last ten years in the Cisarua District affects the number of hydrometeorological disasters, especially landslides, floods, flash floods, and tornadoes. Activities are being made to lessen the danger of hydrometeorological disasters have also been carried out, including increasing community capacity and optimizing disaster-resilient villages.
Pelajar merupakan penerus bangsa di masa depan, yang sangat diharapkan memiliki kualitas yang baik sehingga dapat membawa kemajuan bagi bangsa di waktu mendatang. Internet dibutuhkan oleh pelajar untuk mendapatkan atau memberikan informasi. Sehingga mempermudah pembelajaran selain mereka dapatkan dari sekolah maka pelajar juga dapat menambah pengetahuan dengan cara mencari dari internet (media sosial). Namun media sosial memiliki dampak positif dan negatif bagi pelajar. Dampak positif mereka mendapatkan informasi yang luas dan cepat untuk menunjang proses pembelajaran. Sedangkan dampak negatif mereka akan menyalahgunakan sosial media, tidak mengingat waktu karena kecanduan menggunakan jejaring sosial itu. Permasalahannya adalah bahwa banyak siswa/siswi SMK Negeri 5 Medan yang tidak mengetahui atau kurang mengetahui Undang-undang ITE (Undang Undang Informasi dan Transaksi Elektronik) dan banyak siswa/siswi SMK Negeri 5 Medan yang tidak mengetahui atau kurang mengetahui sanksi bagi yang melanggar Undang-undang ITE.Luaran yang akan dihasilkan adalah berupa penyuluhan, guna memberikan perlindungan, pencegahan dan penanggulangan penyalahgunaan media social bagi siswa/siswi SMK Negeri 5 Medan. Selain itu pelaksanaan program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini hasilnya akan dimasukkan ke dalam jurnal ilmiah. Khalayak sasaran program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah 40 orang siswa/siswi SMK Negeri 5 Medan yang terdiri atas siswa/siswi kelas X, XI, XII. Kegiatan ini diisi dengan pemberian materi tentang pemanfataan media sosial dalam pembelajaran. Selain itu juga memberikan dampak positif dan negatif dari media sosial dalam pembelajaran. Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan pemberian materi mengenai akibat hukum penyalahgunaan media sosial.
Refugees in transit often have no access to formal education. Indonesia as one of transit countries has allowed these community school-age children to join public school. Unfortunately, teenagers and adults do not have similar consent. As most of them are stranded for a long time to skip their basic education, there should be a bridge so that they still can catch up with their secondary or even higher education level. During their uncertain waiting time, some international and national organizations and local institutions have provided them with private classes in specific subjects. The problem is these classes are unaligned with the lesson grade in host country formal education institution, which is categorized based on learners’ ages. Moreover, they are placed in separated places (detention centre, interception, community housings) which cost time and fare to get these refugees in one education centre. The alternative solution for handling this situation is by having blended learning, a combination of online learning platform and face-to-face meeting managed by teachers both from the host country and refugees. These students although they are limited by any means, have been familiar with ICT such as Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Multimedia and Internet. The online learning platform will muddle through time and distance in order to support them to take Package A, B, C (National Elementary, Junior and Senior High School Equivalency) tests as these tests are admitted at work and further study in host country as well as their destination countries without age limitation.
Flood Disaster Mitigation Efforts in Pidie Jaya District, Aceh Province to Support National Security].This study was conducted to analyze flood disaster mitigation efforts in Pidie Jaya District to support national security. This research used a qualitative method and descriptive analysis. The data used in this research were primary and secondary data. Primary data was obtained through interviews conducted online using the zoom meeting application on March 22-25, 2021 involving several agencies in Pidie Jaya District such as, Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah (BPBD), Dinas Lingkungan Hidup, Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Daerah (Bappeda), dan Dinas Pekerjaan Umum. Secondary data is obtained through documents held by agencies related to flood disasters. The results of this research indicate that the Pidie Jaya District Government has made mitigation efforts for flood disasters such as coordinating with related sectors, identify disaster-prone areas, conduct socialization and provide education on disaster management, as well as strengthen structures in the cliff areas of Krueng Meureudu, Krueng Putu, and Krueng Jeulanga. However, these efforts did not run optimally because one of the factors causing the flooding had not been eliminated. The solution that can be offered by the author is that it is necessary to make contingency plans and documents for disaster-prone areas, an early warning system for flood disasters, as well as legal strengthening for illegal logging actors in the upstream area of the river which is one of the factors causing flooding.
English for Specific Purposes (ESP) taught at Higher Education Institution (HEI) is a kind of course for students majoring other than English. The descriptive research conducted in one of HEI in Pekanbaru, Riau, involved 65 students majoring in Computer Science of that institution. The data gathered by observation and interviews. This research aimed to find out what were the causes of students' weaknesses in English writing skills, for those were the primary problem that they have compared to other English skills. It was revealed those students had 1) low competence in General English (GE) based on CEFR, 2) had a problem with writing, even in their first language, 3) tendency in taking advantage of Google Translate without further checking, 4) lack of knowledge on lexical choice, sentence construction and the structure of writing, 5) limited practicing time and opportunity.
Ekosistem hutan mangrove merupakan habitat penting bagi organisme kelautan dan sebagai penjaga pantai dari abrasi. Salah satu daerah yang mempunyai hutan mangrove dan cukup rentan dengan terjadinya abrasi adalah Desa Seriwe Kecamatan Jerowaru, Kabupaten Lombok barat. Desa Seriwe merupakan daerah pesisir yang memiliki fungsi penting untuk melindungi wilayah pesisir di Lombok Timur. Desa Seriwe berbatasan dengan sebelah utara Desa Pemongkong, sebelah selatan laut Samudra, sebelah timur teluk Seriwe, dan sebelah barat desa Kwang rundun. Desa ini memiliki luas wilayah sebesar 172,12 ha/m2 dengan luas pemukiman yakni 4,5 ha/m2, luas persawahan sebesar 253,8 ha/m2, luas perkebunan sebesar 2,5 ha/m2, luas kuburan sebesar 3,5 ha/m2, luas pekarangan sebesar 3 ha/m2, luas taman sebesar 0,80 ha/m2, serta luas perkantoran sebesar 0,23 ha/m2. Daerah ini memiliki hutan konservasi seluas 12 ha/m2 serta hutan mangrove 8 ha/m2. Kegiatan penanaman mangrove bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran masayarakat tentang pentingnya mangrove dalam mencegah terjadi abrasi, khusunya di Desa Seriwe. Kegiatan ini melibatkan berbagai aspek mulai dari mahasiswa KKN, kepala dusun hingga warga desa setempat. Metode yang digunakan yakni deskriptif kualitatif. Secara fisik mangrove juga berperan sebagai penahan ombak, penahan angin, pengendali angin, perangkap sedimen, dan penahan intrusi air asin, sedangkan perannya di lingkungan biota yaitu sebagai tempat persembunyian, tempat perkembangbiakan berbagai macam biota air (ikan, udang, moluska, reptilia, mamalia dan burung).
We propose the PROSPER (Project, Sustainability, and Perseverance) Learning Model in English for Computer Science (ECS), a course provided by undergraduate Computer Science programs in Indonesian Higher Education Institutions. PROSPER has eight competencies: (1) System Thinking; (2) Critical Thinking; (3) Envisioning for the Future; (4) Personal Involvement; (5) Interpersonal Relations and Collaboration; (6) Tolerance for Ambiguity and Certainty; (7) Communication and Use of Media; and (8) Strategic Action. The syntax refers to Project-Based Learning and has eight stages: (1) choosing the theme of the project; (2) open-class discussion on the correlation between the topic and sustainability; (3) meeting the experts; (4) structuring the project by considering its contribution to sustainability; (5) executing the project in a sustainable way; (6) presenting the project; (7) evaluating the project; and (8) publishing the project. PROSPER model highlights the concept of sustainability and increases awareness, which has real-world relevance on a global scale. The urgency of incorporating sustainability into ECS is intimately tied to student perseverance, which is anticipated to educate them to be change agents for a better world in the present and future.
