Abstract: This work intends to follow the development of the slave narratives and neo-slave narratives, contemplating three works of these genres, one of each century, being 12 Years of Slavery (1853), by Solomon Northup; Beloved (1987), by Toni Morrison; and The Underground Railroad, by Colson Whitehead (2017).
