RemerciementsJe tiens tout d'abord à remercier vivement le Professeur Bernadette Mérenne-Schoumaker, qui m'a offert depuis dix ans la possibilité de réaliser de nombreuses recherches en didactique de la géographie, et singulièrement dans le domaine des nouvelles technologies de l'information et de la communication.Sa volonté inflexible et opiniâtre pour faire de la didactique un des points forts de notre département et pour que soit reconnue plus largement au sein de l'Université l'importance des recherches en didactique a permis qu'elle soit aujourd'hui promoteur d'une première thèse en didactique au sein de la Faculté des Sciences. Par ailleurs, son souci constant de fonder ces recherches sur l'expérience de terrain m'a permis de valoriser quinze années d'enseignement de la géographie dans le secondaire. Enfin, les nombreuses réflexions que nous avons pu échanger ces dernières années ont contribué à enrichir ce travail.Je voudrais aussi exprimer toute ma gratitude au Révérend Père Gérard Fourez et au Professeur Jacqueline Beckers, membres du comité d'accompagnement, qui m'ont vraiment aidée, par leurs questions et remarques critiques, à expliciter mes intentions, à préciser ce qu'il était souhaitable de communiquer et à affiner la manière de le faire.Je remercie également les Professeurs Gérard Hugonie, Dieudonné Leclercq et Marc Antrop, qui ont accepté de faire partie du jury sous la présidence du Professeur Jean-Paul Donnay.Mes plus chaleureux remerciements vont ensuite à l'équipe des formateurs de l'Institut d'Éco-pédagogie, partenaires privilégié de notre Laboratoire de méthodologie de la géographie, avec qui j'ai le bonheur de partager, depuis plus de dix ans, une expérience extraordinaire de recherche-action interdisciplinaire. Gabriel de Potter, Michel Ericx, Nadine Liétar, Stéphane Noirhomme et Jacques Roskam ont plus spécifiquement participé aux recherches-actions relatives à l'approche du paysage; leurs compétences professionnelles ont nourri mon parcours tout autant que leur amitié. Depuis 1994, c'est surtout avec Michel Ericx que j'ai exploré les potentialités pédagogiques des nouvelles technologies de l'information et de la communication; ses apports, son soutien et ses encouragements sont inestimables.C'est aussi Frédérique Delvaux et Marie Pirenne que je voudrais remercier chaudement pour la belle complicité qui s'est développée au cours des 2 recherches que nous avons menées ensemble. Comme collègues dans les recherches-actions, elles ont toutes deux apporté une énergie et un enthousiasme peu communs, en plus d'une passion stimulante pour tout ce qui touche à la pédagogie. Leur investissement moral et professionnel m'a fondamentalement soutenue tout au long de ces années.Je remercie également Monsieur Jacques Stein, responsable de la Direction Nature de la Région wallonne, qui a, le premier, accepté de soutenir nos projets de recherche dans une voie relativement innovante pour le secteur. L’éducation relative à l’environnement est interpellée par la nouvelle gouvernance territoriale qui exige la participation de tous les acteurs. La complexité des habiletés sociales et cognitives requises pour qu’un projet de territoire soit véritablement fondé sur une vision commune de tous les acteurs exige que ces derniers y soient préparés, qu’ils aient développé une « intelligence commune du territoire ». Des critères spécifiques pour reconnaître l’existence de cette forme particulière d’intelligence au sein d’un groupe d’acteurs sont proposés à la discussion dans l’idée de baliser un curriculum de formation pour un nouveau métier : « écodiplomate », ou « animateur communautaire ». Quatre axes peuvent être dégagés pour exprimer les dimensions d’une éducation par et pour le territoire ayant cette forme particulière d’intelligence : axes humaniste, politique, épistémologique et praxique.
