L’article analyse six textes d’élèves produits dans le cadre de l’évaluation nationale en classe de CE2. L’exposé méthodologique et les conclusions de chaque étape d’analyse font apparaître trois stratégies scripturales dominantes assorties de leurs indicateurs langagiers, lexicaux notamment. Les stratégies repérées sont respectivement sémantique (l’effet résumé d’un texte globalement narratif), grapho-lexicale (l’effet liste d’un texte qui se renouvelle par les unités lexicales) et pragmatique (l’effet dialogue d’un texte dont la cohésion tient aux actes de paroles). Dans un second temps, l’article cherche les moyens d’améliorer les performances identifiées en spécifiant des activités épilinguisques et en les ajustant aux énoncés effectifs (fréquence et importance de certains verbes, travail sur les séquences pronominales). L’article s’efforce enfin de montrer que la stratégie scripturale d’un jeune élève permet de situer la compétence grammaticale (la formation de l’énoncé phrastique) entre l’intention pragmatique (le discours) et la morphsyntaxe du verbe (la construction du prédicat verbal).
