A critical and annotated catalogue of 183 types of Hymenoptera Chrysididae belonging to 124 taxa housed in the Radoszkowski collection is given. Radoszkowski type material from other institutes has also been checked. Six lectotypes are designated in Kraków (ISEA-PAN): Chrysis acceptabilis Radoszkowski, 1891; Chrysis persica Radoczkowsky, 1881; Chrysis daphnis Mocsáry, 1889; Chrysis lagodechii Radoszkowski, 1889; Chrysis remota Mocsáry, 1889 and Chrysis vagans Radoszkowski, 1877. The lectotype of Brugmoia pellucida Radoszkowski, 1877 is designated in Moscow (MMU). Four new combinations are proposed: Philoctetes araraticus (Radoszkowski, 1890), comb. n.; Pseudomalus hypocrita (du Buysson, 1893), comb. n.; Chrysis eldari (Radoszkowski, 1893), comb. n.; and Chrysura mlokosewitzi (Radoszkowski, 1889), comb. n.. Ten new synonyms are given: Chrysis auropunctata Mocsáry, 1889, syn. n. of Chrysis angolensis Radoszkovsky, 1881; Chrysis chrysochlora Mocsáry, 1889, syn. n. and Chrysis viridans Radoszkowski, 1891, syn. n. of Chrysis keriensis Radoszkowski, 1887; Chrysis angustifrons var. ignicollis Trautmann, 1926, syn. n. of Chrysis eldari (Radoszkowski, 1893); Chrysis maracandensis var. simulatrix Radoszkowski, 1891, syn. n. of Chrysis maracandensis Radoszkowski, 1877; Chrysis pulchra Radoszkovsky, 1880, syn. n. of Spinolia dallatorreana (Mocsáry, 1896); Chrysis rubricollis du Buysson, 1900, syn. n. of Chrysis eldari (Radoszkowski, 1893); Chrysis subcoerulea Radoszkowski, 1891, syn. n. of Chrysis chlorochrysa Mocsáry, 1889; Chrysis therates Mocsáry, 1889, syn. n. of Chrysis principalis Smith, 1874; and Notozus komarowi Radoszkowski, 1893, syn. n. of Elampus obesus (Mocsáry, 1890). One species is revaluated: Chrysis chalcochrysa Mocsáry, 1887. Chrysis kizilkumiana Rosa is the new name for Chrysis uljanini Radoszkowski & Mocsáry, 1889 nec Radoszkowski, 1877. Pictures of seventy-seven type specimens are given.

In the Kampinos National Park (Poland), which is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, 47 caught per unit effort samples of Chrysididae were collected in 2000–2006. The aim of the study was to identify the factors promoting the diversity of this rarely studied group of parasitic wasps. A total of 722 specimens belonging to 37 species were recorded, including 18 threatened species and six others recently described as new to the Polish fauna. No chrysidids were recorded in forests, instead they were most abundant on fallow land (i.e. in open habitats), of which those located on dry soils were preferred over humid ones, just as by their endogeic (nesting in the ground) hosts. Many chrysidids that are parasites of hypergeic (nesting above the ground) species were significantly associated with old abandoned wooden buildings, where their hosts use holes in wood for nesting. In addition to the characteristics of the habitat sampled, its position in the land mosaic also determined the diversity of chrysidids. Their lowest abundance and species diversity were recorded in samples from different types of habitat, all located in a uniform environment (i.e. with few other habitats nearby), which limited the diversity of resources available within the flight ranges of chrysidids and their hosts. Our study, thus consistent with the concept that habitat heterogeneity enhances faunal diversity, brings important conclusions for the management of park landscapes: afforestation of open areas (both intentional and resulting from natural succession of plant communities) and removal of old abandoned wooden buildings may limit the land mosaicity and thus faunal diversity.

the landscape of the Kampinos national park (Kpn), a UneSco Biosphere Reserve in poland, is a mosaic of habitats created by natural processes and human activities. However, ongoing abandonment of traditional management has led to the development of forest communities in formerly open areas. the aim of the study was to identify the local habitat conditions promoting the abundance and diversity of wasp species (Vespidae) in the post-agricultural landscape of KPN. A total of 52 samples of Vespidae caught per unit effort (CPUE) were collected across various habitats with different levels of soil humidity, bare ground and mosaicity. the highest numbers and greatest species richness of vespids were recorded in open habitats on semihydrogenic and dry soil, which provided nesting sites for hypergeic (nesting above the ground) and endogeic (ground nesting) wasps. Many solitary species that are hypergeic were significantly associated with old, abandoned wooden buildings. As vespids need resources to build and provision the nest, their communities were shaped not only by the nature of the habitat sampled but also by the mosaicity of the surrounding area. the highest abundance and species richness were recorded in samples from a heterogenous landscape, which provided a wider range of available resources in the vicinity of the nest. Our findings have significant implications for the management of park landscapes: afforestation of open habitats, both human-induced and resulting from natural succession, and the removal of old abandoned wooden buildings may limit landscape mosaicity and thus decrease hymenopteran diversity. Wasps of the family Vespidae are distributed worldwide, but most of the species are known from tropical regions. With ca. 4,700 species described in the world's fauna, the family is divided into six subfamilies 1. In Poland, only members of three subfamilies are known: the Eumeninae, Polistinae and Vespinae 2. The Eumeninae wasps, also called potter wasps, belong to solitary species, and most of them are rather rarely collected. The wasps of the Polistinae and Vespinae are eusocial and include socially parasitic and workerless species which use closely related taxa as hosts 3,4. The social species of Vespidae are usually favoured in studies as they are very common and possess ecological and economic importance. They kill, and thus control, many pest species in order to feed their larvae. Also, they pollinate flowers that they visit to feed on their nectar 5. Vespinae wasps pose a threat to people through their ability to sting, which can sometimes result in fatal allergic reactions to the venom 1,6. They are also vectors of disease-causing bacteria, such as Escherichia coli. Wasps are sometimes responsible for losses of fruit crops, particularly plums, pears and grapes 1. Ecological studies concern mostly descriptions of vespid assemblages in various plant communities and ecosystems, and they lack analyses of the environmental factors determining Vespidae diversity. Climate change is an important driver of the spread of apiary pests and honeybee predators. These impact on one of the economically most important pollinators and thus pose serious threats to the functioning of both natural ecosystems and crops. We investigated the impact of the predicted climate change in the periods 2040–2060 and 2060–2080 on the potential distribution of the European beewolf Philanthus triangulum, a specialized honeybee predator. We modelled its potential distribution using the MaxEnt method based on contemporary occurrence data and bioclimatic variables. Our model had an overall good performance (AUC = 0.864) and the threshold of occurrence probability, assessed as the point with the highest sum of sensitivity and specificity, was at 0.533. Annual temperature range (69.5%), mean temperature in the warmest quarter (12.4%), and precipitation in the warmest quarter (7.9%) were the principal bioclimatic variables significantly affecting the potential distribution of the European beewolf. We predicted the potential distribution shifts within two scenarios (optimistic RPC4.5 and pessimistic RCP8.5) and three Global Circulation Models (HadGEM2-ES, IPSL-CM5A-LR, and MPI-SM-LR). Both optimistic and pessimistic scenarios showed that climate change will significantly increase the availability of European beewolf potential niches. Losses of potential niches will only affect small areas in southern Europe. Most of the anticipated changes for the period 2060–2080 will already have occurred in 2040–2060. The predicted range expansion of European beewolf suggests that occurrence and abundance of this species should be monitored.

First records of Diodontus medius Dahlbom, 1844 and D. insidiosus Spooner, 1938 from Poland, and of D. handlirschi Kohl, 1888 from Bulgaria and Montenegro are provided. An illustrated key for the identification of Central and Eastern European species of the genus Diodontus is given.

A total of 23,319 individuals representing 26 insect species were obtained from 1,063 cones of Abies alba Mill. in 1982–1986. This material originated from the Roztocze National Park in Poland where the natural range of European fir reaches its north eastern boundary. The coenotic groups of insects have been given and the indexes of domination (D), stability of incidences (C), species diversity (d), and Agrell's index of species co‐existence (Ag) have been calculated. Zusammenfassung Erste Untersuchungen über die Entomofauna der Tannenzapfen (Abies alba Mill.) im Roztocze‐National‐Park in Polen Aus Tannenzapfen, gesammelt im Roztocze‐National‐Park in Polen, wo die nordöstliche Grenze des natürlichen Verbreitungsgebietes der Tanne verläuft, wurden in den Jahren 1982–1986 26 Insektenarten gewonnen. Sie gehören 6 Ordnungen an: Heteroptera, Coleoptera, Raphidioptera, Hymenoptera, Lepidoptera und Diptera. Unter ihnen waren die Zweiflügler und Hautflügler mit 17054 und 5443 Exemplaren am häufigsten vertreten. Es werden coenotische Gruppen von Insekten gebildet und mittels ökologischer Indikatoren charakterisiert. Zu den dominierenden Arten gehörten: Earomyia impossibile Morge, Resseliella piceae Seitn., Mesopolobus pinus Hussey, Lycoriella solani Winn. und Cartodere filum Aubé. Die Arten höchster Dominanz in den Tannenzapfen waren: Earomyia impossibile, Barbara herrichiana, Resseliella piceae und Megastigmus suspectus. Die Artendiversion war am stärksten innerhalb der Parasiten und Räuber der konofagischen und seminifagischen Insekten. Bezogen auf den Agrell'schen Koexistenzindikator zeigten sich Earomyia impossibile und Resseliella piceae am stärksten miteinander verbunden.

The purpose of the experiments was to determine the size and structure of ultra-weak luminescence before and after the electric field. Photon emission tests were carried out in the Laboratory of Experimental Research Techniques of Raw Materials and Biological Products with PCA accreditation in the subject measurement procedure.
