O presente artigo busca caracterizar a vulnerabilidade socioepidemiológica a que estão sujeitos os povos indígenas isolados e de recente contato. Por meio de exemplos históricos, procuramos ilustrar como as epidemias decorrentes de processos de contato são capazes de dizimar populações inteiras. Apresentamos e analisamos a legislação brasileira específica que garante o direito à saúde para estes povos para, em seguida, exemplificar como o Estado brasileiro a está descumprindo. Por fim, concluímos que a violação ao direito à saúde, em um momento de emergência sanitária de proporções pandêmicas, pode vir a significar o genocídio destas populações, risco que o Estado brasileiro está, conscientemente, assumindo.
O artigo trata da diferenciação de gênero entre os Matses a partir da etnografia de um ritual de iniciação masculina, a festa dos “espíritos cantores”, procurando mostrar como o ritual e as práticas de constituição da pessoa se relacionam à produção dessa diferenciação, e como ela se dá na relação com a alteridade. Indagando sobre o perigo da exposição dosespíritos ao olhar feminino fora do contexto correto estabelecido pelo ritual, e relacionando o ritual dos espíritos cantores a outros rituais de visita realizados entre os povos Pano (onde coletivos de homens e mulheres encarnam “visitantes” e “anfitriões” e se “enfrentam” em combates jocosos), o artigo sugere uma articulação entre a diferenciação de gênero e a diferença de perspectiva (Lima 1996; Viveiros de Castro 1996), ainda pouco explorada na etnologia amazônica.
Este artigo trata de concepções e práticas matses relativas ao crescimento e constituição de pessoas, tomando-as como parte do que vem sendo definido pela etnologia amazônica como o processo da constituição do parentesco. Busco demonstrar como relações com sujeitos extrassociais – vegetais e animais – são fundamentais na constituição de pessoas matses, e como a partir delas se efetuam diferenciações internas ao próprio círculo de parentes próximos, inclusive de gênero. Assim, a constituição da pessoa matses, tanto masculina quanto feminina, se dá tanto na “consubstancialização” com os seus parentes (cunmatses) como também com outros sujeitos. Esses dois movimentos produzem parentes, que diferem entre si. Como parte dessa apresentação da constituição da pessoa e parentesco matses proponho uma releitura do dualismo bëdibo-macubo. A variante matses do dualismo pano tem sido analisada na chave sociológica como expressa em metades patrilineares que representariam uma o interior, outra o exterior da sociedade; uma os valores do feminino, outra do masculino. Ela será aqui abordada em relação à produção do parentesco e à diferenciação entre parentes.
