Phenacylidenetriphenylphosphorane reacts with HgI2 in 2 : 3 molar ratio to form a novel trinuclear iodobridged symmetrical complex whose structure has been elucidated by IR, multinuclear NMR, and X-ray crystallography. The Hg···Hg distance [3.648(1) Å] indicates a negligible bonding interaction between the mercury atoms.

A 1 : 1 chelate complex [(C 6 H 5 ) 3 PC(COCH 3 )(COC 6 H 5 )-O,O 0 ]UO 2 (NO 3 ) 2 has been synthesized by reaction of (C 6 H 5 ) 3 PC(COCH 3 )(COC 6 H 5 ) with UO 2 (NO 3 ) 2 Á 6H 2 O in methanol at room temperature and characterized by elemental analysis, spectroscopy as well as by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The complex crystallizes in P2 1 /n space group with a ¼ 10.007(2) Å , b ¼ 15.285(7) Å , c ¼ 19.20(1) Å , ¼ 91.22(3) , V ¼ 2936(2) Å 3 , Z ¼ 4, D c ¼ 1.847 g cm À3 . In the solid state structure, the dihedral angle [88.1(4) ] between the planes defined by the two quartets of atoms O1 O8 O2 O4 and O6 O5 O3 O7 is close to 90 , as expected for a triangulated dodecahedral geometry around uranium.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
