Bidentate coordination of a diketo phosphorus ylide: synthesis and structure of [(C6H5)3PC(COCH3)(COC6H5)-κO,O′]UO2(NO3)2

Abstract: A 1 : 1 chelate complex [(C 6 H 5 ) 3 PC(COCH 3 )(COC 6 H 5 )-O,O 0 ]UO 2 (NO 3 ) 2 has been synthesized by reaction of (C 6 H 5 ) 3 PC(COCH 3 )(COC 6 H 5 ) with UO 2 (NO 3 ) 2 Á 6H 2 O in methanol at room temperature and characterized by elemental analysis, spectroscopy as well as by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The complex crystallizes in P2 1 /n space group with a ¼ 10.007(2) Å , b ¼ 15.285(7) Å , c ¼ 19.20(1) Å , ¼ 91.22(3) , V ¼ 2936(2) Å 3 , Z ¼ 4, D c ¼ 1.847 g cm À3 . In the solid state structure,… Show more

“…Under refluxing conditions in benzene, the reaction with BPPY leads to the uncoordinated salt [H-BPPY] 2+ [(UO 2 ) 2 (NO 3 ) 4 (OH) 2 ] 2– , while a similar reaction at 298 K of uranyl acetate dihydrate with EPPY leads to formation of the [H-EPPY] + [UO 2 (CH 3 COO) 3 ] − salt. A 1:1 uranyl(VI) nitrate complex has also been structurally characterized with the Ph 3 PC(COCH 3 )(COPh) phosphorus ylide ligand …”
