ABSTRACTGood water quality is extremely important to support life of organisms. The determination of water quality status was needed as reference to monitor water pollution. This study aimed to assess the status of water quality and determine pollution index based on physical-chemical parameters in the Depapre District waters, Jayapura Regency. Sampling was carried out in October 2017 across five research stations, then the results were compared with water quality standards based on KEPMEN-LH No. 51 Tahun 2004 for marine biotas. The results showed that the parameters in according to the quality standards are temperature, salinity, sulphide and water transparency, while those that have exceeded the quality standards are pH, total ammonia, nitrate and phosphate. Based on the calculation of pollution index indicates that the Depapre District waters was in light pollution to medium categories.

Abstract. Information about sea surface temperature (SST) very important role in ocean and fisheries study. Aqua-MODIS satellite data very important to monitoring SST periodically exchange. The aim or this study to analyze temporal distribution and spatial SST in Jayapura waters of Papua Province. SST data from Aqua-MODIS satellite used on June 2011 to May 2015 period. Descriptive analysis on this research consist of temporary SST analysis base on monthly and seasonal fluctuating of SST in time series graph, and spatial analyze base on color degradation visualization on monthly average SST distribution map. The result show that temporal pattern variations in Jayapura waters experience decreasing in four years of monthly SST. Variations of SST in Jayapura waters are 25°C-31°C with dominant SST revolve 27°C-29°C. The maximum SST value in November (29.25°C) and the minimum in March (27.86°C). Variability of SST value in Jayapura waters be affected by moonson. SST value on east monsoon and intermediate II tend more higher than SST on west monsoon and intermediate I. Spatial distribution of SST in offshore tends highly than spatial distributions near from coastal.

Keywords: SST; Aqua-MODIS; Variability Temporal and Spatial; Jayapura Waters

A good water quality is essential to sustaining the life of the organisms. The determination of water quality is needed as a direction to monitoring the water pollution. The purpose of this study is to examine the quality of the water and to determine the water pollution index based on the physicochemical parameters in Mimika waters, Indonesia. The sampling of water quality was carried out in October 2016 at six stations (Moga, Puriri, Inaoga, Keakwa, Atuka and Pomako waters). Then, the results were compared with the standard of sea water quality for biota marine based on the Decree of the Minister of Environment No. 51 year 2004. This study showed that the physicochemical parameters of the waters, such as water turbidity, BOD, NH 3 and heavy metals (Hg, As, Cd, Pb, Cu, Zn, Ni and Cr), are still appropriate to the biota marine in all study stations. However, there is a parameter for which the quality standards were exceed in all locations, including water salinity for coral and seagrass, NO 3 , PO 4 and H 2 S. The result of pollution index calculation at coastal waters Mimika are classified as lightly polluted (Keakwa and Pomako waters), and moderately polluted (Moga, Puriri, Inaoga and Atuka waters) with the pollution index values of 3.51 to 6.95. It is important to notice that the parameters of quality standards which had been exceed such as NO 3 , PO 4 and H 2 S are the environmental parameter for nutrient elements and can trigger eutrophication in the waters.
The determination of water quality status was needed as a reference to monitor water pollution. The purpose of this study was to determine the concentration of ammonia, nitrate, and phosphate in Depapre waters, Jayapura Regency. Sampling was carried out in October 2017 across five research stations, then the results were compared with water quality standards based on KEPMEN-LH No. 51 Tahun 2004 for marine biotas. Based on the analysis of water quality in Depapre waters obtained the following results are the ammonia content ranges from 0.8 to 11.6 mg/L, the content of nitrate ranged from 0.009 to 0.54 mg/L, and the phosphate content ranged from 0.016 to 1.19 mg/L. These results indicate that the ammonia, nitrate and phosphate concentration in Depapre Waters have exceeded the water quality standard. The concentration of ammonia, nitrate, and phosphate is high enough and endanger the lives of marine biotas.
The coastal areas of both Jayapura Municipality and Regency which is directly opposite to the Pacific Ocean with the multifunctional use is a vulnerable area to disasters. The coastal vulnerability is determined by considering some influential factors, that is geomorphology and elevation to minimize the coastal damage impacts. The purpose of this study is to determine the coastal vulnerability index of Jayapura City and Regency focusing on the coastal geomorphology and elevation. The study area covers a coastal area of 241.86 km along the coastlines of Jayapura Municipality and Regency. The study method includes data collection on the coastal geomorphology and elevation characteristics. The value of coastal vulnerability index of each parameter is determined by dividing into five categories of coastal vulnerability. The result shows territorial division as follows: 145.88 km (61.18%) was not vulnerable, 33.14 km (13.90%) was less vulnerable, 29.03 km (12.17%) was a moderate vulnerability, 12.12 km (5.08%) was vulnerable, and the remaining 18.29 km (7.67%) was very vulnerable. The coastal vulnerability of Jayapura City coastal areas categorized into three classes, i.e. not vulnerable, moderate vulnerable and vulnerable, while the Jayapura Regency coastal areas felt into the following classes: not vulnerable and moderate vulnerable. The most vulnerable areas were of Abepura District, South Jayapura District and Muaratami District, all in the Jayapura Municipality administration. Those areas with high elevation level were not vulnerable at all.
