This paper aims to see the extent to which the application of the elements of faith in the Philosophy of National Education in Malaysia. In fact, faith is the most basic thing in building excellent human capital. This has been proven when the revelation of the Qur'an which is rabbani (divine) has emphasized the approach from the aspect of faith as the most important basis in the construction of the Islamic community at an early stage. From this approach, the ignorant Arab society has been successfully transformed into an Ummah that sketches a very superior human civilization history. In the Malaysian context, Islam has been declared the official religion of the country. Thus, it is assumed that the element of Islamic faith has been applied into all national policies in every aspect including education. This study uses an inductive approach, national education policies are analyzed critically and a conclusion is made based on the analysis. This study found that the application of the element of faith is the core to the formation of education policies in Malaysia, especially in the National Education Philosophy which is the backbone of the education system in Malaysia and also the formation of government policies such as the Islamic Hadhari Policy. Kertas kerja ini bertujuan untuk melihat sejauh manakah penerapan unsur akidah dalam Falsafah Pendidikan Kebangsaan di Malaysia. Hakikatnya, akidah merupakan perkara yang paling dasar dalam pembinaan modal insan yang cemerlang. Perkara ini telah terbukti apabila penurunan al-Quran yang bersifat rabbani (ketuhanan) telah menekankan pendekatan dari aspek akidah sebagai dasar yang terpenting dalam pembinaan komuniti Islam pada peringkat permulaan. Dari pendekatan tersebut, masyarakat Arab jahiliah telah berjaya ditransformasikan kepada satu Ummah yang melakar sejarah ketamadunan manusia yang sangat unggul. Dalam konteks Malaysia, agama Islam telah diisytiharkan sebagai agama rasmi negara. Justeru, diandaikan bahawa unsur akidah Islam telah diterapkan ke dalam semua dasar negara dalam setiap aspek termasuk pendidikan. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan induktif, dasar-dasar pendidikan negara dianalisis secara kritikal dan satu kesimpulan dibuat berdasarkan analisis tersebut. Kajian ini mendapati bahawa penerapan unsur akidah menjadi teras kepada pembentukan dasar-dasar pendidikan di Malaysia terutamanya dalam Falsafah Pendidikan Kebangsaan yang menjadi tunjang kepada sistem pendidikan di Malaysia dan juga pembentukan dasar-dasar kerajaan seperti Dasar Islam Hadhari.
World history has portrayed the splendour of Muslims in controlling the world during the heyday of Islamic rule and the expansion of its empire. The Muslims have carved a remarkable point in history through the development of numerous fields of knowledge and skills, especially in education, medicine, physics or astronomy, social science, culture, economy, administration and governance. However, due to internal problems and oversight of Muslims themselves, the efforts to glorify the world's civilization was curtailed. In an era of information technology and other modern surroundings, the Muslims need to recover the splendour of the ummah amongst the world civilization. Meanwhile, pertaining to religious affairs, the Muslims must build a firm basis so that the world would respect and make Islamic civilization the pillar of world civilization. Even though it is an idealistic hope, it must be realised slowly and in stages according to the suitability of time, society and place. Hence, this article will try to identify the source of weakness in Muslims that hinders them from controlling world civilizations and put forth suggestions of how to reclaim the splendour of the ummah in order to stay at the pinnacle of world civilization.
Mahmudah morality is an important mechanism in human development. Man as a caliph is always exposed to morals mahmudah (praiseworthy) and morals mazmumah (reprehensible) throughout life on this earth. Thus, the Qur'an has used several methods in ensuring that human beings are developed with simple morals. Thus, this paper aims to look at the morals of the ignorant Arab society mentioned by the Qur'an and explain the methodology of the Qur'an in the formation of simple morals in developing their potential as superior human capital. To collect data, the author examines the contents of the Qur'an and collects verses related to the theme of morality. For the purpose of analysis, this study uses deductive methods to draw conclusions about the methodology of the Qur'an in applying simple morals in human beings. The results of the study found that the Qur'an uses four approaches in instilling good morals in human beings, namely the creation of role models, the narration of the stories of previous generations, parables and threats and encouragement. The four methodologies used by the Qur'an are able to ensure that good morals are always embedded in the self because it is an approach that is in accordance with human nature and instincts. Akhlak Mahmudah merupakan mekanisme yang penting dalam pembangunan insan. Manusia sebagai khalifah sentiasa terdedah kepada akhlak mahmudah (terpuji) dan akhlak mazmumah (tercela) sepanjang kehidupan di muka bumi ini. Justeru, al-Quran telah menggunakan beberapa metode dalam memastikan manusia dibangunkan dengan akhlak mahmudah. Justeru, kertas ini bertujuan untuk melihat akhlak masyarakat Arab jahiliah yang disebut oleh al-Quran dan menjelaskan metodologi al-Quran dalam pembentukan akhlak mahmudah dalam membangunkan potensi mereka sebagai modal insan yang unggul. Bagi mengumpul data, penulis meneliti kandungan kitab al-Quran dan mengumpulkan ayat-ayat yang berkaitan dengan tema akhlak. Bagi tujuan analisis, kajian ini menggunakan metode deduktif bagi membuat kesimpulan tentang metodologi al-Quran dalam menerapkan akhlak mahmudah dalam diri insan. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa al-Quran menggunakan empat pendekatan dalam menanamkan akhlak mahmudah dalam diri manusia iaitu pewujudan suri teladan, penceritaan kisah-kisah generasi terdahulu, perumpamaan dan ancaman serta dorongan. Keempat-empat metodologi yang digunakan al-Quran ini mampu memastikan akhlak mahmudah sentiasa tertanam dalam diri kerana ia merupakan pendekatan yang sesuai dengan fitrah dan naluri manusia.
Preaching is a call that demands Muslims to convey the message of Islam through the implementation of welfare, respect for human values and appreciate the perfection of human nature. The natives (pribumi) society are receiving the missionary which has not been directly exposed to missionary approach using social welfare. They are the most numerous in a state of poverty and distress including their knowledge about Islam is very limited. Welfare approach is needed in preaching to the natives peoples in Sabah and Sarawak. Therefore missionary planning needs to be implemented through the preparation of missionary strategy, operational design, short and long term goals, practice of worship and missionary training to the natives communities themselves. This planning should involve government agencies, the private sector, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the private preacher. Missionary approach for social welfare would succeed with the involvement collectively by missionaries and native communities in embracing the practices of Islam.
