Indonesia is a multicultural country consisting of different tribes, languages and religions. This diversity, on one hand, is one of the advantages and wealth of the nation that must be maintained. But on the other hand, this diversity can be a potential conflict in the midst of society. Therefore, the understanding of the motto of "bhineka tunggal ika" should be instilled to the young generation from an early age so that they can play a role in maintaining unity amid the pluralism of the nation. One effort that can be realized in order to respond to this problem is to implement the concept of multicultural education (multicultural education) in education in Indonesia. This article seeks to discuss the concept of multicultural education and its practice in education in Indonesia.
Abstract Online learning carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a decline in the ability to understand mathematical concepts for elementary school students. The purpose of this study is to describe how online learning causes a decrease in the ability to understand concepts. This research is a qualitative descriptive study involving 26 students and a class VI MIN 4 East Lampung teacher. Data collection techniques using interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique was carried out through three stages, namely reduction, display, and data verification. The results of this study indicate that the decline in the ability to understand mathematical concepts in elementary school students is influenced by the application of online learning, including limited student meetings with teachers directly, interaction between students and teachers who are not optimal, lack of student learning assistance, lack of independence of students studying at home, and characteristics of mathematics learning. Thus, online learning has a negative impact and hinders the improvement of elementary students' mathematical abilities Keywords: Understanding of mathematical concepts, mathematical ability, online learning, Covid-19 Abstrak Pembelajaran online yang dilaksanakan selama masa pendemi covid-19 telah menyebabkan terjadinya penurunan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa sekolah dasar. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan bagaimana pembelajaran online menyebabkan terjadinya penurunan kemampuan pemahaman konsep. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitan deskriptif kualitatif yang melibatkan 26 siswa dan seorang guru kelas VI MIN 4 Lampung Timur. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data dilakukan melalui tiga tahapan yaitu reduksi, display, dan verifikasi data. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terjadinya penurunan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis pada siswa sekolah dasar dipengaruhi oleh penerapan pembelajaran online, diantaranya terbatasnya pertemuan siswa dengan guru secara langsung, interaksi siswa dengan guru yang tidak maksimal, kurangnya pendampingan belajar siswa, kurangnya kemandirian siswa belajar di rumah, dan karakteristik pembelajaran matematika. Dengan demikian, pembelajaran online memberi dampak negatif dan menghambat peningkatan kemampuan matematis siswa SD. The basis of all mathematical activity is problem-solving. One of the important factors that can help students find new knowledge and strategies in solving problems is creativity. This study aims to describe the increased creativity of elementary school students in solving math problems through the use of Scratch media in the mathematics learning process in the classroom. This research is action research conducted in three cycles. Each cycle consists of four basic steps: planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. The subjects in this action research were 25-grade students in one of the elementary schools in Palangkaraya City. The research was conducted from July to November 2019. Data collection was carried out by means of observation and giving tests. Observations were made to obtain data about student activities in the process of implementing actions through observation sheets, where the data collection process was assisted by collaborators. Giving tests are carried out to measure students' creativity in solving math problems. The success criterion used in each action cycle is when students classically have reached the minimum category of creative enough (level 3) at least 75%. The data validation technique used triangulation techniques and data analysis techniques used descriptive analysis techniques. The results showed an increase in creativity from pre-cycle to the third cycle, namely: pre-cycle by 16%, cycle I by 52%, cycle II by 68%, and cycle III 76%. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that learning mathematics through the use of Scratch media can increase creativity in solving math problems of elementary school fifth-grade students with an increase of 60%.
Proses pembelajaran interaktif pada masa pandemi Covid-19 telah mengubah sistem pembelajaran tatap muka menjadi sistem daring (E-Learning). Dalam hal ini, perlunya pengenalan suatu media yang dapat diakses dengan mudah untuk menunjang pembelajaran daring seperti WhatsApp. Pada pengabdian ini mempunyai tujuan agar pengajar bisa kreatif dalam pemanfaatan aplikasi sederhana WhatsApp pada mata pelajaran IPA sebagai media pembelajaran secara optimal sehingga meningkatkan keaktifan siswa. Mitra dalam pengabdian ini adalah seluruh pengajar IPA yang ada di MTs Darul Ulum Palangka Raya. Teknik pengumpulan data pada pengabdian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif. Hasil yang diperoleh dalam pengabdian ini adalah pemanfaatan aplikasi WhatsApp pada mata pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA) membuat pengajar lebih kreatif dengan memanfaatkan media seperti WhatsApp dalam pembelajaran daring sehingga membuat peserta didik juga merasa terbantu baik dalam proses pembelajaran maupun pengumpulan tugas yang jauh lebih mudah.
Abstrak: Kegiatan pembelajaran tidak harus selalu dilakukan di dalam ruangan, tetapi juga bisa dilakukan di luar ruangan. Tidak sedikit anak-anak yang merasa bosan menerima materi pembelajaran di dalam ruangan. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilaksanakan kegiatan pembelajaran di luar ruangan yang juga dapat menanamkan pengetahuan lingkungan kepada anak-anak usia Sekolah Dasar. Field trip merupakan sebuah perjalanan pendidikan yang dapat memberikan pengalaman belajar lebih baik bagi anak. Field trip dilakukan dengan cara mengunjungi suatu objek tertentu, misal museum, pabrik, wisata dan tempat-tempat lainnya. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk lebih mengenalkan lingkungan, mencintai lingkungan, bekerja sama, tenggang rasa, dan menambah wawasan tentang lingkungan pada anak usia sekolah di Kelurahan Habaring Hurung. Pengabdian ini menggunakan beberapa tahapan yaitu tahap persiapan dan tahap pelaksanaan. Pada tahap persiapan, pendamping kegiatan yaitu mahasiswa KKN Tematik IAIN Palangka Raya melakukan breafing sebelum memulai kegiatan. Pada tahap pelaksanaan dilakukan dengan melalui empat pos persinggahan tempat penyampaian materi. Hasil pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan permainan edukatif berbasis field trip dapat menanamkan pengetahuan tentang lingkungan pada anak-anak usia Sekolah Dasar di Kelurahan Habaraing Hurung. Karena melalui kegiatan ini anak-anak dapat mengeksplor alam sambil bermain dan belajar pengetahuan tentang lingkungan sekitar. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out outdoor learning activities that can also instill environmental knowledge in elementary school age children. A field trip is an educational journey that can provide a better learning experience for children. Field trips are done by visiting a certain object, such as museums, factories, tours and other places. This service aims to better introduce the environment, love the environment, work together, be considerate, and add insight into the environment for school-age children in Habaring Hurung Village. This service uses several stages, namely the preparation stage and the implementation stage. In the preparation stage, the activity companion, namely the IAIN Palangka Raya Thematic KKN students, did a briefing before starting the activity. At the implementation stage, it is carried out through four transit posts where the material is delivered. The results of this service indicate that field trip-based educational game activities can instill knowledge about the environment in elementary school-aged children in the Habaraing Hurung Village. Because through this activity children can explore nature while playing and learn knowledge about the surrounding environment.
