Obtaining high‐resolution images of the geology and hydrogeology of the subsurface in the depth range from ground level to 50 m is one of the major challenges of modern geophysics. The methods which are commonly used (such as compressional‐wave surveys and ground‐penetrating radar) often suffer from adverse effects caused by the near‐surface conditions, changes in water saturation and various sources of noise. This paper demonstrates some of the advantages offered by the use of shear‐wave seismology and by the combination of shear‐ and compressional‐wave seismic methods in shallow subsurface investigations. Multicomponent shallow seismic tests were carried out at four different sites to examine the effectiveness of different acquisition geometries under a variety of near‐surface geological conditions. Near‐surface conditions encountered at the sites included thick clays, clay/sand sequences overlying Chalk, mudstone overlying granodiorite bedrock and landfill material. Under all conditions, shear‐wave data acquisition was found to have advantages over compressional‐wave acquisition for the investigation of the shallow subsurface. Shear head waves, being unaffected by water saturation, achieved penetration to greater depths at a site in Crewkerne, Dorset where compressional head‐wave penetration was limited to the near‐surface layers. Better vertical resolution was achieved at shallow depths using shear‐wave reflection energy at a landfill site. Shear‐wave reflections from shallow interfaces were in some cases less affected by noise compared with the equivalent compressional‐wave reflections. Combinations of shear‐ and compressional‐wave data recording allowed the measurement of a Poisson's ratio log and gave indications of seismic anisotropy at two sites where dipping clay layers were present.
The covid-19 pandemic has changed the pattern of learning and information tracing in the world of education. This condition becomes a challenge for academics amid various limitations and new habits. In addition to the problem of online learning, currently, students are also faced with difficulties in finding and accessing references to support online learning given the limitations of library services that have not provided loans and reading services online. This condition is faced by the partner of the service program, namely students of Fisip UHO. Problems faced by partners, first limited knowledge in access ebook services and open access e-journal. Second, the ability to use Mendeley as a means of citation scientific work. Solving the problem is done through ebook access training, e-journal and the use of Mendeley continued with the practice of finding open access reference sources and doing the citation independently in Mendeley The results showed significant changes in knowledge and skills for access to ebooks and e-journal services as well as Mendeley. There are only 60% of partners understand ebook access, 64% understand e-journal access, and there are 33.3% of partners who ady understand using Mendeley. This percentage value was obtained through the distribution of questionnaires before the training activities to 22 participants. After the training was carried out there was a change of one part to 100% of partners already understunderstooding ebook and e-journal services, but only 93.8% were able to use Mendeley.
The problem of construction project is very complicated and complexso that required a good management function that is planningactivities, implementation activities, and control activities. A projectis categorized as successful when appropriate cost / budget, timelyand quality. The purpose of this study is to analyze the perceptions of workers onthe inhibiting factors of the asphalting implementation and toanalyze the factors that hinder the project implementation based onthe perception of workers on the paving of Benua - Basala toll roadin South Konawe District. The research method used is interview method using kuisioner withsample of research is worker, where the analytical technique used isdescriptive method and factor analysis method with the help ofprogram SPSS version 16.The result of this research is the perception of the worker to theinhibiting factor of project implementation ie the material factors;Labor factors; Equipment factors; Financial factors; andEnvironmental factors.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
