Strychnos ligustrina Blume is one of the potential plants for medicine that has been used by the local community in Indonesia for traditional medicine. Some studies showed that S. ligustrina parts had different activities, such as antimalarial, antibacterial, antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anticancer activities. Triterpenoids, phenolics, tannins, alkaloids, and flavonoids were detected in this species. Different plant parts and grow sites may affect the composition of chemical components. Therefore, the present study investigated the chemical components in different parts of S. ligustrina from some grow sites. The chemical components of different plant parts were analyzed by GC-MS and showed 51 compounds in total. The major constituents identified as mome inositol, heptadecene-(8)-carbonic acid-(1), palmitic acid, quinic acid, and stearic acid. The main active constituent of the antimalarial drug, strychnine, was also detected in this study. The PCA and cluster analysis of chemical components resulted in distinguished plant parts into three groups, whereas had shown no difference among the sites. In addition, the crucial compounds of this species that potential for antimalarial, strychnine, are only found in the leaf and stem. It has been shown that the leaf and stem are potential plant parts for the antimalarial agent.
OR “Zingiber officianale” AND Mual OR Nausea AND Pregnancy.
Â AbstractPrediabetes is a condition characterized by impaired fasting glucose or impaired glucose tolerance. Indonesia is ranked seventh in the world with the highest number of diabetics. Worldwide, there are more than 400 million people with prediabetes and projections show that more than 470 million people will have prediabetes by 2030. Reliable estimates are useful for planning effective prevention and treatment programs for diabetes management nationwide to reduce this number especially in people of working age. Therefore, this study aims to provide an overview regarding the level of prediabetes in productive age. This research is an observational study with descriptive analysis. Respondents who met these criteria filled out a questionnaire which included name, age, level of education, random blood sugar values, blood pressure, weight, height, no history of diabetes in the family and the frequency of physical activity carried out. The collected data is processed to obtain prediabetes values/scores with the help of the CDC website to obtain prediabetes values/scores. Based on the results of a survey of 101 respondents collected. Based on the research above, it can be concluded that of the six parameters (age, sex, blood pressure, BMI, and family history) determinants of pre-diabetes, 92.1% of 101 respondents had a low risk of pre-diabetes and 7.9% had a low risk of developing pre-diabetes. The use of traditional medicine, in general, is considered safer than modern medicine. This study aims to determine the relationship between frequency of traditional medicines usage, the type and amount of traditional medicines consumed on traditional drug user's health-related quality of life. This research was an observational study conducted in a cross-sectional way. The study was conducted in the city of Surabaya in 2019. Calculation of sample size required for 400 people using the Slovin formula. Inclusion Criteria of respondents were domiciled in Surabaya, had or were taking traditional medicine, aged over 17 years. The research instrument was in the form of a Questionnaire and Short Form 6 Dimension (SF6D) sheet that had been validated for the measurement of the quality of life for health. The instruments were distributed using the Snowball Sampling technique with Google Forms. While manual distribution using random sampling techniques to the people of Surabaya. The collected data were analyzed with the Spearman correlation test and the Kruskal Wallis test. All analyses were carried out with the help of SPSS.The results show that the frequency, type and amount of traditional medicine consumed had a p>0.05 to health-related quality of life. The behavior of traditional medicine usage shows that there is no significant relationship to health-related quality of life to the health of the Surabaya community. Keywords: health-related quality of life; traditional medicine; SF6D; behavior
