Malaria adalah penyakit yang disebabkan oleh parasit plasmodium dengan perantara nyamuk anopheles dan penyakit Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) disebabkan oleh virus Dengue fever dengan perantara nyamuk Aedes aegepty. Kedua penyakit ini rawan mewabah di wilayah tropis ataupun subtropics terutama saat musim hujan yang menyebabkan terjadinya genangan air di mana-mana. Upaya pemerintah dalam mengintervensi mewabahnya penyakit DBD dan malaria adalah dengan usaha prefentif dan kuratif dari dinas terkait tentang pentingnya menjaga kesehatan keluarga dan dari gigitan nyamuk yang berpotensi menularkan penyakit malaria dan DBD. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini sebagai salah satu implementasi dari tri dharma perguruan tinggi, dilakukan melalui pelatihan pemanfaatan sereh wangi sebagai cairan spray anti nyamuk pada siswa Sekolah Dasar Muhammadiyah 2 Pontianak. Metode kegiatan didasarkan pada pembuatan cairan antinyamuk berbahan baku ekstrak minyak atsiri sereh wangi (Cymbopogon nardus) yang dapat diaplikasikan pada botol spray untuk disemprotkan ke dalam suatu ruangan agar tidak dikunjungi oleh nyamuk. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan anak SD Muhammadiyah 2 Pontianak dalam memformulasi minyak antinyamuk cair yang dapat digunakan sebagai pengusir nyamuk. Minyak atsiri sereh wangi dibuat dengan metode destilasi uap air di mana sejumlah bobot sampel minyak sereh wangi dipotong kecil disari dalam panci destilasi menggunakan uap air panas, menghasilkan uap panas yang kemudian terkondensasi menjadi tetes-tetes minyak. Tetes minyak yang dihasilkan selanjutnya di larutak dalam sejumlah kecil alkohol agar tercampur homogen antara minyak sereh wangi dengan air yang dengan mudah dapat diaplikasikan ke dalam botol spray. Selanjutnya dilakukan pengujian tentang kemampuan minyak sereh spray dalam mengusir nyamuk dari suatu ruang pengujian. Dari kegiatan PKM yang dihadiri oleh 15 anak SD menunjukkan ada perhatian dan keterampilan baru bagi anak SD dalam mengekstraksi minyak sereh wangi dan memformulasikannya sebagai obat cair yang siap disemprotkan ke dalam ruangan untuk mengusir nyamuk.
Uncaria gambier Roxb is a plant from the Rubiaceae family, belongs to the Bajakah group and has been used empirically in the treatment of various types of diseases in the community. Besides being one of the industrial plants and export commodities produced in Sumatra and Kalimantan, gambier leaves is also used frequently in Indonesia, both for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. As a result, market demand both nationally and internationally have increased. The aim of this research are determination of antioxidant activity of ethanol extract and aqueous extract of gambir claw using 1,1-diphenil-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and determination of total phenol using Calcetau folin reagent. Gambier plant samples were taken in the forest area around the Tanjungpura University campus, the claws were separated and dried at room temperature, then powdered and extracted by maceration using 70% ethanol pa and aquadest, then the extract was concentrated until it was ready to be tested for antioxidant activity and determination of total phenol. The total phenolic ethanol extract and aqueous extract of gambir claw were 224.66 mg GAE/g extract (GEA : Gallic Acid Eqivalent) and 299.08 mg GAE/g extract, respectively, while the antioxidant potential (IC50) was 39.566 μg/mL and 65.140 μg/mL, and the IC50 for comparison of Vitamin C was 7.02 μg/mL.
Campus Teaching is one of the Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) programs initiated by the Ministry of National Education in and the momentum of its implementation starting in February 2021, known as Campus Teaching Pioneers or KM 1. It is the government's hope that with this program it will be able to improve soft competencies. skills and hard skills from college graduates, which are relevant to technological advances and the needs of the times. Campus Teaching Ambassadors 2 (KM 2) who are placed in State Elementary School No. 15 Segedong, consist of 4 students from 3 different universities, and with various study program backgrounds, are expected to improve the quality of learning services at the school even though in all aspects. limitations due to the Covid 19 pandemic. This research is descriptive qualitative, which describes in a structured way the implementation of this teaching campus program by the KM 2 team including learning process activities, technology adaptation and school administration improvements. From the evaluation carried out in the middle and at the end of the activity, it was shown that the KM 2 team at the school had carried out a series of assigned obligations.
Uncaria gambir is a member of Rubiaceae family. Information related to antioxidants and the use of this plant in the food and cosmetic industry has been widely reported. This study aims to determine the physicochemical properties, phytochemical content and antioxidant activity of herbal tea made from gambir claw, which was collected from the Pontianak City area of West Kalimantan. Determination of physicochemical properties is based on measuring the parameters of pH, water content, ash content and organoleptic including taste, odor and color when dissolved in water. Phytochemical screening was carried out using specific reagents to determine the presence of flavonoid compounds, tannins, alkaloids and saponins. Antioxidant activity was determined using the free radical scavenging method 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). From the results of the measurement of the physical and chemical properties of gambir claw herbal tea, the pH, ash content, moisture content and powder conditions met the requirements of SNI No 3836 of 2013, phytochemical screening showed positive results for flavonoid and tannin compounds, and antioxidant activity was obtained at 88,398 ppm, classified as a strong antioxidant.
Penyakit infeksi saluran pernafasan atas (ISPA) adalah salah satu penyakit infeksi virus yang banyak terjadi saat munculnya kabut asap pada setiap musim kemarau tiba, terutama pada anak kecil. Kebakaran lahan baik disengaja ataupun tidak telah menjadi pemicu utama menebalnya kabut asap di wilayah Kalimantan Barat, termasuk hampir di seluruh wilayah Kabupaten Kubu Raya. Tujuan dari pelaksanaan kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini adalah untuk mengedukasi masyarakat agar dapat mengatasi kemungkinan munculnya penyakit infeksi saluran nafas atas (ISPA) akibat asap dari kebakaran lahan. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada bulan hari Sabtu, 6 Oktober 2021 dengan metode ceramah oleh tim pelaksana, dihadiri oleh 20 warga masyarakat Desa Mekar Baru, disertai dengan pembagian masker kepada setiap peserta. Materi yang disampaikan dievaluasi dengan melakukan tanya jawab di akhir kegiatan, di mana semua pertanyaan/quiz yang disampaikan oleh tim pelaksana dapat dijawab oleh peserta.
Salah satu komoditas unggulan Kalimantan Barat di bidang holtikultura adalah buah Nanas dengan jumlah produksi sebesar 76.400 ton pada tahun 2019. Buah Nanas dijual dalam kondisi segar maupun berbagai jenis olahan. Pengembangan hasil olahan Nanas berpotensi memberikan kontribusi pada peningkatan volume sampah organik di Kalimantan Barat. Sampah menjadi isu global yang dapat mengakibatkan pencemaran lingkungan dan gangguan kesehatan manusia apabila tidak dikelola dengan baik. Hingga saat ini, penanganan sampah masih menjadi problematika yang belum terselesaikan. Slogan Reuse, Reduce dan Recycle (3R) telah menginspirasi masyarakat dalam melakukan pengelolaan sampah secara sistematis dan berkelanjutan. Kegiatan PKM ini bertujuan untuk menerapkan pemahaman dan meningkatkan skill sejak dini dalam pengelolaan limbah organik menjadi produk yang lebih bermanfaat bagi lingkungan. Sampah limbah Nanas dapat diolah menjadi produk yang memiliki nilai tambah dan bermanfaat. Kegiatan pelatihan dilaksanakan pada September 2022 dengan peserta siswa SMUN 3 Pontianak sebanyak 40 orang. Kegiatan dilaksanakan dengan metode ceramah dan praktek membuat eco-enzyme. Sedangkan, evaluasi kegiatan dilaksanakan melalui kuis pada saat pre-test dan post-test, serta evaluasi keterampilan siswa dalam mempersiapkan proses fermentasi. Hasil penelitian yaitu pembuatan ekoenzim dilakukan dengan pencampuran bahan dengan perbandingan limbah kulit Nanas : gula aren : air sebesar 3 : 1 : 10. Fermentasi dilakukan ± 3 bulan. Kegiatan mandiri ini menunjukkan antusiasme dan semangat dari peserta mengikuti seluruh proses kegiatan. Selain itu, peserta menjadi lebih terampil dalam mengolah limbah menjadi larutan ekoenzim. Training and Socialization of Pineapple Peel Waste Fermentation to Eco-enzyme as the Implementation of the Slogan Reuse, Reduce dan Recycle One of the featured commodities of West Kalimantan in the horticulture sector is Pineapple with a total production of 76,400 tons in 2019. Pineapple is sold in the form of fresh or in various types of processing. The development of processed pineapple has the potential to contribute to increasing the volume of organic waste in West Kalimantan. Garbage is a global issue that cause environmental pollution and human health problems if not managed properly. Until now, waste management is still an unresolved problem. The slogan Reuse, Reduce and Recycle (3R) has inspired the community to carry out waste management systematically and sustainably. This community services aimed to apply understanding and improve skills in managing organic waste into useful products to the environment. Pineapple waste can be processed into products that have an added value and useful. The community service activity was carried out in September 2022 with participants from SMUN 3 Pontianak as many as 40 students. Activities were carried out with the lecture method and practice of making eco-enzymes. Meanwhile, evaluation was done through quizzes during the pre-test and post-test, as well as evaluating students' skills in preparing for the fermentation process. The result showed that the production of eco-enzymes was done by mixing the ingredients with a ratio of pineapple waste: palm sugar: water of 3 : 1 : 10. Fermentation was carried out for ± 3 months. This activity showed the enthusiasm of the participants to attend in the whole process of this activity. Meningkatnya kebutuhan pangan dan perumahan telah menjadi pemicu pembukaan lahan gambut, karena membakar lahan merupakan salah satu usaha paling ekonomis dalam pembukaan lahan tersebut. Saat musim kemarau, budaya membuka lahan ini sangat beresiko terhadap terjadinya kebakaran lahan gambut yang luas serta sulit dipadamkan. Tujuan dari kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini adalah untuk mengedukasi dan mensosialisasikan usaha-usaha pencegahan dini kebakaran lahan serta tindakan-tindakan untuk mengurangi resiko atau bahaya yang disebabkan oleh kabut asap dari kebakaran lahan tersebut kepada kelompok masyarakat Desa Kapur Kubu Raya. Kegiatan ini dilakukan secara offline dengan tetap menggunakan protokol kesehatan untuk pencegahan Covid 19. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh peserta sebanyak 20 orang merupakan perwakilan warga masyarakat, dengan menggunakan metode ceramah yang dilanjutkan dengan simulasi dan demonstrasi penanganan kebakaran. Dalam kegiatan itu juga dibagikan masker kesehatan dan handsanitizer kepada seluruh peserta yang hadir. Monitoring dan evaluasi kegiatan dilaksanakan sepanjang kegiatan melalui pengamatan aktivitas peserta dalam simulasi dan demonstrasi, sedangkan tingkat pemahaman dan kemampuan masyarakat dalam menangani kebakaran menunjukkan kemajuan, yang dilihat pada hasil kuisioner yang diberikan pada awal dan akhir kegiatan. Socialization and Education on Early Prevention of the Risks of Peatland Fires in the Dry Season to the Villagers of Kapur The increasing need for food and housing has become a trigger for clearing peatlands, because burning land is one of the most economical ways to clear these lands. During the dry season, this culture of clearing land is very risky for large peatland fires that are difficult to extinguish. The purpose of this Community Service activity (PKM) is to educate and socialize early efforts to prevent land fires and actions to reduce the risk or danger caused by haze from land fires to the Kapur Kubu Raya Village community group. This activity was carried out offline while still using the health protocol for the prevention of Covid 19. This activity was attended by 20 participants who were representatives of community members, using the lecture method followed by simulations and demonstrations of handling fires. In this activity health masks and hand sanitizer were also distributed to all participants who attended. Monitoring and evaluation of activities is carried out throughout the activity through observing the activities of participants in simulations and demonstrations, while the level of understanding and ability of the community in dealing with fires shows progress, as seen in the results of the questionnaires given at the beginning and end of the activity.
The increase in side effects due to the use of chemical drugs encourages people to return to nature, utilize the plants around them in dealing with health problems. Red ginger (Z. officinale Var Rubrum) and elephant ginger (Z. officinale var Roscoe) have been used empirically in medicine especially to boost immunity. This study aims to determine the tonic activity of the ethanol extract of red ginger and elephant ginger in vivo using the natatary exhaustin method with white rats (Rattus norvegicus) as test animals. The natural fatigue method was based on the resistance of the test animals to swimming in water after being treated with ethanol extract of red ginger and elephant ginger rhizome at a dose of 70 mg/kg body weight, using Na-CMC solution as a blank and caffeine solution as a positive comparison. Based on research data testing the tonic activity of red ginger and elephant ginger extracts in vivo showed that the tonic activity of red ginger ethanol extract with the swimming endurance of the test animals was for 27.72 seconds, longer than the swimming endurance of the treated animals. with elephant ginger ethanol extract which is only 16.46 seconds.
