This article analyzed the learning experience of students at home during the school closing period in response to the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. Through this study, an in-depth understanding of the life experiences, perceptions, and motivation of students were obtained from either the school or their parents. These outputs would be input into policy making and solving learning problems towards a new normal era. Now the school closures have been running for almost seven months and it almost about to reopening this mid-August 2020. To understand this phenomenon issue, some data searching have been performed ranging from daily papers, academic journal, and educational related literature. The data search then analyzed under the phenomenological application approach. Compiling the existing data and students voices, this study showed that the students learning experiences during six month learning from home responding the national policy stopping the corona virus spreading can be reported based on 10 websites visited have expressed their best coverage over students learning difficulty and challenge from different perspectives. Most websites mentioned students hardship in learning from home caused the lack of learning resources such not access to internet and parents ability to support their children learning. Technological developments are increasingly rapid in the digital age today, causing the values that are born, both positive and negative also experience a tremendous surprise for humans. From these surprises, so the role of parents in educating their children also changes by the development of their times. In the 80, parents in educating their children must have experienced a difference in the digital age today. The parenting style that initially experienced differences from other parents, which only applied authoritarian, permissive, democratic types of parenting, had experienced success in educating children, but in the age of the digital era, the three parenting styles would not succeed, if they did not synchronize according to the time of the situation and conditions in terms of parenting.
Aim Mangrove wetlands span broad geographical gradients, resulting in functionally diverse tree communities. We asked whether latitudinal variation, allometric scaling relationships and species composition influence mangrove forest structure and biomass allocation across biogeographical regions and distinct coastal morphologies. Location Global. Time period Present. Major taxa studied Mangrove ecosystems. Methods We built the largest field‐based dataset on mangrove forest structure and biomass to date (c. 2,800 plots from 67 countries) to address macroecological questions pertaining to structural and functional diversity of mangroves spanning biogeographical and coastal morphology gradients. We used frequentist inference statistics and machine learning models to determine environmental drivers that control biomass allocation within and across mangrove communities globally. Results Allometric scaling relationships and forest structural complexity were consistent across biogeographical and coastal morphology gradients, suggesting that mangrove biomass is controlled by regional forcings rather than by latitude or species composition. For instance, nearly 40% of the global variation in biomass was explained by regional climate and hydroperiod, revealing nonlinear thresholds that control biomass accumulation across broad geographical gradients. Furthermore, we found that ecosystem‐level carbon stocks (average 401 ± 48 MgC/ha, covering biomass and the top 1 m of soil) varied little across diverse coastal morphologies, reflecting regional bottom‐up geomorphic controls that shape global patterns in mangrove biomass apportioning. Main conclusions Our findings reconcile views of wetland and terrestrial forest macroecology. Similarities in stand structural complexity and cross‐site size–density relationships across multiscale environmental gradients show that resource allocation in mangrove ecosystems is independent of tree size and invariant to species composition or latitude. Mangroves follow a universal fractal‐based scaling relationship that describes biomass allocation for several other terrestrial tree‐dominated communities. Understanding how mangroves adhere to these universal allometric rules can improve our ability to account for biomass apportioning and carbon stocks in response to broad geographical gradients.
Abstract-The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of Kinesio Tape (KT) application to quadriceps muscles on isokinetic muscle strength, gait, and functional parameters in patients with stroke. Twenty-four patients were allocated into KT and control groups. All patients participated in the same conventional rehabilitation program 5 times/wk for 4 wk. In addition, KT was applied to quadriceps muscles bilaterally to the patients in the KT group. Compared with baseline, peak torque levels increased significantly in both groups (all p < 0.05). However, change levels were significantly higher in the KT group than the control group at 60 degrees/second angular velocity (AV) in extension (p = 0.04) and 60 and 180 degrees/ second AV in flexion (both p = 0.02) on the paretic side. Moreover, the change levels were more prominent in the KT group at 60 and 180 degrees/second AV in extension (p = 0.03 and p = 0.04, respectively) on the nonparetic side. Gait, balance, mobility, and quality of life values improved significantly in both groups (all p < 0.05), yet the change levels between the groups did not reach significance (p > 0.05). KT application to quadriceps muscles in addition to conventional exercises for 4 wk is effective on isokinetic but not functional parameters.
This project aimed to review teacher’s leadership learning strategies in improving student learning outcomes since the government sent students home to slow the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The student’s learning success during a pandemic is closely related to understanding and implementing teacher leadership strategies in helping students learn from home. To support teachers in student learning success, we have reviewed literature, especially student learning during school closings. After data collection, we continued in-depth analysis and interpretation with a descriptive qualitative approach. Analysis and interpretation include the competencies to be achieved, learning motivation, teaching materials, mentoring methods, and success evaluation rubrics. After we connected all the elements above with teaching, pedagogy, and understanding of the realities of student learning during the pandemic, we finally succeeded in compiling a strategic formulation of the teacher leadership strategies as follows: 1) spatial learning practice, 2) retrospective approach, 3) practical elaborative learning, 4) collaborative learning, 5) interleaving approach, 6) concrete commitment, 7) multiple coding skills, 8) helpful resources, 9) digital competence, and 10) celebrating every success. These findings are they are valid and reliable. Therefore, the implication of this findings can be a strategy for teachers to back up students learning from home today where teaching still remains in remote settings.
Local wisdom is a cultural treasure owned by many ethnic groups in Indonesia today. Local wisdom is a shared value stemmed from society's culture and used as a tool to control people in the community. Of many local wisdoms, Malay ethnic group has a unique prohibition or taboo, so-called pantang larang in Malay language. This culture constitutes as an ancestral heritage which is almost forgotten. It does not receive much attention from the society, including young generations who live in digital era. One of the possible reason is because parents do not tell local stories and advices. Consequently, the younger people do some negative behaviors since they do not comply the guidance of pantang larang and perceive it only as an old story. This paper, therefore, is a qualitative study which aims at describing the culture of pantang larang from Malay ethnic group.
