The learning process has changed totally since the implementation of the distance learning policy (Pembelajaran Jarak Jauh-PJJ). Lecturers and students are required to be able to optimize the internet. This article discusses the process of Maharah Qira’ah using e-learning in UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. This research is a qualitative study by describing data found in the field in depth. The data were collected through Google Forms, observation, distribution of questionnaires through Google Forms, and online interviews through social media and documentation. The results showed that the e-learning media used in Maharah Qira’ah classes are WhatsApp, Zoom, Youtube, Instagram, and Facebook applications, where Whatsapp is more significant than other media. In an effort to realize reading skills, the lecturers designed the lesson by demanding students to understand Qira'ah texts sent through WhatsApp Group, by writing new vocabulary found in the text, recording their readings, and sending them to WhatsApp Group, followed by solving 10 problems, and then discuss them with the lecturers and the other students. This study found that there is a shift in learning maharah qira’ah using e-learning from student center to media center. It means that the process depends on technology is more significant than dependence on teachers. This study also found that learning mahara qira'ah with conventional methods is more preferred by students than using e-learning. Although the teacher explains the material in depth and provides assignments that support student learning.
Arabic communication skills for non-Arabs are faced with serious problems; therefore, the use of technology-based platforms is considered following students’ wishes in the era of digital technology. Various technological devices have been widely used by educators for multiple levels of education but have not obtained maximum results. The novelty of this research is the use of Duolingo as a platform for teaching Arabic language skills. This study describes that Duolingo is very relevant to be used as a medium for learning Arabic for beginners because the teaching material begins with the new alphabet and vocabulary equipped with pictures. However, Duolingo still needs to make an essential revolution for learning Arabic speaking skills, especially for andragogy learners who have expert Arabic skills. Based on the findings, some implications are put forward.
This study aimed to investigate the use of technology in enhancing the quality of Islamic higher education in Indonesia. A mixed-method approach, with a sequential explanatory design, was applied in this research. The participants in the quantitative research were 608 students from 10 provinces in Indonesia, while those in the qualitative approach were 23 students. The quantitative data were collected using a questionnaire, and the qualitative data were collected through interviews. The quantitative data were analyzed descriptively, while the qualitative data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which included collecting, reducing and displaying the data, and drawing conclusions. The findings showed that students’ perceptions of the use of technology in improving the quality of Islamic higher education were categorized into three parts. First, the technology used in enhancing the quality of delivering materials includes LMS (38%), Zoom meetings (30%), Google Meet (18%), and Google Classroom (14%). Second, the technology used in improving the quality of monitoring or learning direction includes WhatsApp (55%), Telegram (25%), Line (9%), and Google Classroom (11%). Third, the technology used to improve the quality of learning evaluation includes Kahoot (9%), Quizizz (10%), Google form (48%), Turnitin (28%), and computer-based tests (5%). In addition, the respondents gave a positive response to the use of technology in learning in Islamic higher education. The use of technology in Islamic higher education shows an increase. It eases the lecturers, students, and other stakeholders to provide a more outstanding quality of Islamic education.
This study explores a new paradigm of character education with 21st-century skills through online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. The researcher adopted a qualitative approach with the library research method. Research data were collected from primary and secondary sources such as books, proceedings, and journals. The collected data is then analyzed using descriptive content analysis by selecting, comparing, and presenting the data findings deductively. This research shows that students with 21st-century character and skills will become individuals who can take opportunities and face global development challenges. The findings of this study describe that online learning is an excellent opportunity for teachers to instill technology-based character values. An in-depth study is needed to complete this study by discussing the role of parents and teachers in instilling character education during online learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi paradigma baru pendidikan karakter dengan keterampilan abad 21 melalui pembelajaran online pada masa pandemi Covid-19 di Indonesia. Peneliti mengadopsi pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode kajian kepustakaan. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dari sumber-sumber primer dan sekunder seperti buku, prosiding dan jurnal. Data yang terkumpul kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif dengan cara memilih, membandingkan dan menyajikan data temuan secara deduktif. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa yang berkarakter dan memiliki keterampilan abad 21 akan menjadi individu yang mampu mengambil peluang, dan berupaya menghadapi tantangan perkembangan global. Temuan penelitian ini mendeskripsikan bahwa pembelajaran dalam jaringan menjadi kesempatan besar bagi guru untuk menanamkan nilai-nilai karakter berbasis teknologi. Perlu dilakukan kajian mendalam untuk menyempurnakan kajian ini dengan membahas peran orang tua dan guru dalam menanamkan pendidikan karakter saat pembelajaran dalam jaringan.
Crossword Puzzle is a learning medium that is easy to use by everyone. Moreover, the era of the Covid-19 pandemic, which created its own challenges for the learning process of Arabic in schools as a driver for foreign language communication for students. Even in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic, learning must remain oriented to the life skills of the 21st century which are famously known as HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills). The learning media used must also lead to students’ HOTS skills. On this basis, this study wants to analyze the use of Crossword Puzzle media in learning maharah qira’ah during the Covid-19 pandemic era at SMA Islam Sabilillah Malang Boarding School and classify it in the LOTS, MOTS or HOTS categories. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews and documentation with data analysis techniques using Miles & Huberman’s theory, namely reducing, presenting and concluding field data. The results showed that the use of Crossword Puzzle media in learning maharah qira’ah has met HOTS standards with an indication that learning is student-centered, the use of Crossword Puzzles requires student creation and innovation and improves critical and deep thinking skills when doing Crossword Puzzle that matches the qira’ah text being taught. This study recommends other researchers to test the effectiveness of learning Arabic at SMA Islam Sabilillah Malang Boarding School.
This study aims to analyze students' creative thinking skills in learning Arabic through the application of a project-based learning model based on Hots. This study uses a quantitative approach with experimental methods of the type of quasi-experimental research with the research design used is Post-Test Only Control Group Design. The population in this study were students of class X MAN 1 Malang City, East Java, Indonesia. The data collection instrument used was a test using an independent sample t-test analysis test. Based on the independent sample t-test, the significance value of the variable analysis was 0.013 < 0.05 with an average value of 75.12 for the experimental class and 70.28 for the control class. Through the results obtained, there is a significant positive effect between experimental class students who use project-based learning models and control class students who only use conventional models. So to improve students' creative thinking skills, they can use project-based learning in Arabic learning.
Early childhood is an age of children whose learning tendencies rely on games, therefore this study aims to describe the IcanDO platform for early childhood in learning Arabic. The research was conducted with a qualitative approach, the data sources were early childhood teachers. Data collected by observation techniques, interviews and documentation studies. The result of the research is that IcanDO as a learning platform is interesting for early childhood, with this platform they can play to learn Arabic. In accordance with the data, it was found that the IcanDO platform used can stimulate early childhood learning, stronger memory, personalized learning can be implemented, children's thinking skills can be trained and children's multilingual abilities are also growing. Researchers recommend that the use of various platforms that support the implementation of education in difficult conditions continue to be developed. The limitation of this research is that IcanDO and its effectiveness have not been studied comprehensively, therefore the aspects that have not been touched in this research can be the work of future researchers.
