The success in the modern era is determined by how students strive to have certain skills. This can be achieved by students through the development of cognitive domain, because it is considered as the ability to master subject matter with regard to thinking ability in addition to learning. Hence, this research aims at improving the learning outcomes in the cognitive domain of students at the primary school level. This research was conducted using the Pre-Experiment method with the pretest-posttest One-Group design. The lessons were implemented using Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)-based learning, while the learning method was referred to the Engineering Design Process. The stages consist of problem scoping, idea generation, design and construct, design evaluation and re-design. The research involved 30 fourth grade primary school students in Cimahi City as the research samples. The data were collected using observation and analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis. The research results revealed that there were differences in learning outcomes in the cognitive domain. To conclude, STEM-based learning could improve primary school students’ cognitive skills.
4C skills have become part of the current elementary school curriculum, which is expected to improve the quality of education so that graduates are ready to compete in the global world. Student worksheet, based on the RADEC model, is needed as a learning tool that can help participants practice 4C skills. This study aims to develop and validate the Student Worksheet based on the RADEC model on the theme of aerial skills-oriented 21st century: critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication (4C). This research and development (R&D) use the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate). This research was carried out until the development stage or validation stage. The validity of the student worksheet is determined by an assessment of media, materials, and language on a scale of four, validated by twenty-five teachers who have attended the RADEC model workshop for three days. The data obtained were tabulated by calculating the validity of the quantitative and descriptive analysis. The development results show that the student worksheet based on the RADEC model to train 4C skills is declared valid with the calculation results Vh>Vt or Vh> 0.64 and is suitable for use in learning. This research can be used as information on the development and validation of teaching materials, especially student worksheet, based on the RADEC model to train 4C skills in science materials in elementary schools.
Natural Sciences includes basic natural science that has a lot to do with life and life in this world. That is the background of this research. Learning Natural Sciences has been given since students in elementary school. It is very important for students to understand the process of forming elements of life in the surrounding environment. The results of learning Natural Sciences in the fifth-grade students of SDN 001 Merdeka were still relatively low. In addition, the learning process so far allegedly runs monotonically and can make students feel bored easily, so the classroom atmosphere is no longer conducive to the learning process. Seeing this fact, researchers conducted classroom action research by applying experimental methods to the learning process in the classroom. With the experimental method, it is expected that students will feel interested in learning new things, including fostering curiosity in students about the characteristics of the light they encounter daily. The learning outcomes are also expected to improve better, considering that in the experimental method students can directly gain experience and knowledge directly. The results of this study can also be used as reference material for teachers to conduct further research or similar research.
This research is motivated by some students problems about the belief in its ability. This is based on early observation of one-way learning so that students are not used to speaking in front of many people. One of the efforts is to improve self-confidence by applying the learning model of everyone is a teacher here. The objectives to be achieved in this research are: (1) to express the implementation of learning by applying the learning model of everyone is a teacher here to improve student self confidence, (2) To express the improvement of self confidence of students after applying the learning model of everyone is a teacher here. This study is a classroom action research adapted from the Kemmis and Mc model. Taggart. This research was conducted in Grade 4 which amounted to 30 students. The results obtained from the learning process has progressed from cycle I to cycle II. Negative findings found in cycle I amounted to 10, while negative findings in cycle II amounted to two. From the data it is recommended to teachers to use the learning model of everyone is a teacher here to improve student self confidence.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
