Desde que a COVID-19 foi confirmada como uma pandemia de proporções globais, em março de 2020, o mundo passou a acompanhar com grande expectativa o desenvolvimento de uma vacina que colocasse fim a uma crise sanitária que alterou drasticamente o cotidiano das pessoas. Na esteira dos resultados dos testes com imunizantes fabricados por empresas farmacêuticas de diversos países, começaram a circular com mais intensidade as notícias falsas e enganosas sobre a vacina, exigindo da imprensa um trabalho de checagem e refutação desse conteúdo. Neste artigo, analisamos 41 textos publicados pelo jornal Folha de S. Paulo em 2020 que tiveram como foco o enfrentamento à desinformação sobre a vacina contra a COVID-19, a partir dos enquadramentos, das características dos textos jornalísticos, da presença das agências de fact-checking e classificações utilizadas, das principais fontes acionadas e das mídias sociais mencionadas. O frame Bioético e Jurídico foi predominante, destacando a dicotomia entre verdadeiro e falso, certo e errado, científico e não científico. O outro frame identificado foi Política Pública e Estratégia Política, evidenciando as disputas de poder de atores políticos e os embates ideológicos em torno da vacina. A análise revela a importância da interlocução entre jornalismo e ciência em uma emergência de saúde pública e de uma prática profissional que tenha como base a evidência científica, a pluralidade de fontes e a importância da vacinação para a saúde coletiva. RESUMO A irradiação de alimentos é uma técnica de preservação segura e eficaz para eliminar insetos e reduzir microrganismos prejudiciais à saúde humana. O processo contribui para inibir o brotamento e retardar o amadurecimento dos alimentos, prolongando a vida útil de frutas e legumes frescos. Entretanto, dentre uma grande parcela da população brasileira, ainda há grande desinformação sobre as aplicações pacíficas das ciências nucleares. Não raramente a mídia e as redes sociais tendem a associar a radiação ionizante a armas nucleares e acidentes de grandes proporções. A desinformação compromete a percepção do público: consumidores acabam por associar alimentos irradiados a alimentos radioativos ou contaminados. O público demonstra grandes preocupações quanto aos efeitos negativos das radiações para a saúde e riscos de contaminação ambiental. Os julgamentos e tomadas de decisões por parte da sociedade estão diretamente ligados à sua percepção dos riscos e benefícios advindos da Tecnologa Nuclear. Este artigo apresenta algumas considerações sobre as percepções do público a respeito dos alimentos irradiados, bem como algumas ações de divulgação científica, para aproximar ciência e sociedade. Cabe à comunidade científica construir novas pontes entre as ciências nucleares e o público leigo, oferecendo uma perspectiva mais ampla sobre as aplicações pacíficas das radiações ionizantes e suas contribuições na vida cotidiana. A mídia é uma das principais fontes para o consumo de informações sobre as vacinas. Com o crescimento da desinformação e da hesitação vacinal, é fundamental compreender como o jornalismo produz sentidos sobre esse recurso de saúde pública. Neste artigo, analisamos a cobertura da Folha de S. Paulo durante um ano com o objetivo de investigar de que formas as vacinas são pautadas pelo jornal. Observamos aspectos como enquadramentos, fontes, explicação de conceitos, e benefícios e riscos da vacina. Os resultados mostram que as matérias analisadas assumem importante papel ao aproximar a vacinação do cotidiano e promover seus benefícios. No entanto, a abordagem de riscos e controvérsias e a participação cidadã aparecem em menor escala, demonstrando que há espaço para ampliar as relações entre jornalismo, ciência e sociedade.
Este artigo apresenta resultados de uma pesquisa sobre o discurso antivacina em 14 vídeos mais relevantes no YouTube exibidos em 2018 e 2019, considerando a quantidade de visualizações, likes, dislikes e comentários. O estudo identifica argumentos e sentidos construídos pelos mediadores, a partir da perspectiva natural, que associa a vacina à ideia de veneno, riscos e morte; e da perspectiva política, que aciona liberdades individuais e planos de poder para redução populacional e lucro da big pharma. Na interseção entre as duas perspectivas, aspectos religiosos compõem a moldura dos discursos. A análise qualitativa e quantitativa aponta a necessidade de investir em estratégias de comunicação que esclareçam e desconstruam as informações falsas ou distorcidas disseminadas. Também sinaliza a importância de diálogo com um público descrente com instituições políticas, científicas e midiáticas, em que a ameaça de punição pela lei não é obstáculo para recusa ou hesitação vacinal.
O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar a percepção sobre a ciência, seu papel e funcionamento, no contexto da pandemia de Covid-19 no Brasil. Foi realizado um estudo da repercussão no Twitter das decisões da Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS) sobre os testes com a cloroquina e/ou hidroxicloroquina para o tratamento da Covid-19 em três momentos: (i) suspensão temporária; (ii) retomada; e (iii) interrupção. Foram analisados 501.123 tweets. Os resultados indicam uma incompreensão quanto ao funcionamento da pesquisa científica e a presença de discursos politicamente interessados contrários à ciência.
