Introdução: A elaboração da diretriz 90-90-90 pela Organização Mundial da Saúde indica relevância para a testagem rápida para o vírus da imunodeficiência humana. Nesse contexto, deve-se reconhecer a forma com que os homens que fazem sexo com homens vivenciam suas práticas sexuais de modo a identificar os locais que esses costumam frequentar para que se possa redirecionar as ações de diagnóstico e redução de danos nessa população. Objetivo: Identificar a prevalência da testagem para vírus da imunodeficiência humana e características dos homens que fazem sexo com homens frequentadores de saunas. Métodos: Estudo transversal desenvolvido em saunas no estado do Ceará em novembro de 2019. Estudaram-se homens que fazem sexo com homens adultos in loco (saunas). Inquiriu-se acerca da testagem e dados de caracterização sociodemográficas. Os participantes foram investigados quanto às variáveis sociodemográficas e clínicas, estas analisadas pelo software R. Resultados: Participaram 72 homens que fazem sexo com homens, a maioria >30 anos (60,0%), com ensino superior incompleto (37,1%), sem relacionamento afetivo (25,7%), negros (60,0%), com mais de três salários mínimos (34,3%), sem filhos (85,7%), que faziam uso de álcool (51,4%) e não fumavam (91,4%). Entre eles 80,0% realizaram teste rápido para vírus da imunodeficiência humana alguma vez na vida. Conclusão: Observou-se que houve uma relevante aceitação dos homens que fazem sexo com homens à realização do teste rápido para vírus da imunodeficiência humana. Isso demonstra a necessidade do oferecimento e oferta da testagem em diversos locais usuais de agrupamento de homens que fazem sexo com homens, além dos serviços de saúde, promovendo a acessibilidade e contribuindo para a identificação do vírus e, portanto, redução da cadeia de transmissão.
