RESUMOO noni tem sido utilizado desde a antiguidade para o tratamento de uma série de doenças tais como, alergia, artrite, asma, câncer, depressão, diabetes, má-digestão, hipertensão e insônia e utilizado como suplemento alimentar. Apesar dessas propriedades e da sua adaptabilidade intercontinental, as informações a respeito das exigências nutricionais e do manejo agronômico da cultura ainda são pouco frequentes na literatura internacional e nacional. Nesse sentido, o trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar os efeitos do esterco bovino e da adubação potássica no estado nutricional de plantas de noni. O experimento foi desenvolvido no período de julho de 2009 a julho de 2010, na Chácara Pau Brasil, São Luís -MA. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos casualizados com três repetições e duas plantas por parcela. Os tratamentos foram distribuídos em arranjo fatorial 2 x 4, referente à ausência e presença de adubação potássica (130 kg ha -1 de K 2 O) no solo com quatro doses de esterco bovino (0, 1,7, 6,6 e 11,6 kg planta -1 ) fornecidas em cobertura na área de projeção da copa das plantas. Pelos resultados, exceto sobre cálcio e magnésio, a interação matéria orgânica e potássio contribuiu para aumentos dos teores foliares dos demais macro e micronutrientes nas plantas de noni. O estabelecimento de faixas de interpretação com teores de nutrientes adequados para noni se faz necessário para auxiliar as discussões de futuros estudos de adubação e nutrição da cultura. O experimento foi conduzido no período de janeiro a junho de 2010, em casa de vegetação, do DSER/CCA/UFPB, Areia, PB, para avaliar o efeito da salinidade da água de irrigação e biofertilizante bovino na formação de mudas de nim, no solo com sistemas de drenagem agrícola. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi em blocos casualizados, em esquema fatorial 5 x 2 x 2, com quatro repetições, referente a cinco níveis de salinidade da água de irrigação: 0,5; 1,5; 3,0; 4,5 e 6,0 dS m-1, no solo sem e com biofertilizante bovino, na ausência e presença de drenagem. As variáveis analisadas foram: comprimento e diâmetro radicular, alocação de biomassa (raízes + caules + folhas) e índice de qualidade de Dickson. O biofertilizante bovino e a drenagem do solo proporcionaram melhores condições de crescimento e desenvolvimento para formação de mudas de nim se comparado ao solo sem o respectivo insumo, independentemente do nível de salinidade das águas de irrigação.

The lack of good quality water for agriculture purposes regarding salts and quantity in relation to demand for the plants has, for more than 30 years, been forcing the use of restrictive water because of salinity issues in agricultural production systems worldwide. In Brazil, the situation is no different, in the semi-arid areas, there are reports of losses of seed germination, initial growth of seedlings and yield of crops of commercial importance due to the salinity of the water used in irrigation systems. Therefore, an experiment was carried out from June to September/2014 in a protected environment, with a plastic film on the upper base and a thin screen against insects on the sides, to evaluate the effects of salinity interaction between water irrigation and nitrogen fertilisation sources on soil salinity, initial plant growth and the quality of the jackfruit seedlings. The treatments were distributed in randomised blocks, in the factorial scheme 5 × 3, reference irrigation water of 0.3, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 dS m -1 , in soil with and without ammonium sulfate and urea. An increase in the salinity of the irrigation water to 1.32 and 1.70 dS m -1 on the substrate without nitrogen stimulated an increase in the number of leaves and leaf area of the jackfruit seedlings. The ammonium sulfate was the nitrogen source that mainly contributed to the increase of soil salinity and to the reduction of the quality index of the seedlings. Despite the reduction of the Dickson quality index due to the salinity of the irrigation water and the nitrogen sources, the seedlings were suitable for cultivation. -Irrigation with saline water is a worldwide necessity an excess of salts in water or in soil causes growth inhibition, and negatively affects the productivity of many crops. Application of nitrogen fertilizers may be a way of mitigating the effects of salts on plants. The aim of this study was to evaluate the accumulation of biomass and the chlorophyll pigment content in jackfruit seedlings irrigated with water of increasing salinity level in soil with nitrogen sources. The treatments were distributed in randomized blocks with four replicates and three plants per plot, arranged in a 5 × 3 factorial scheme, related to electrical conductivity levels of the irrigation water of 0.3, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 dS m −1 , in soil without nitrogen, with ammonium sulfate and with urea, in a split application 60 and 75 days after sowing. An increase in the salinity of the water increased the salinity levels of soil, which was intensified by a dose of 150 mg of N, mainly when applied in the form of ammonium sulfate, inhibiting dry matter production and chlorophyll content in jackfruit seedlings. The greatest reductions in chlorophyll a and b content occurred in jackfruit seedlings irrigated with water of 4.0 dS m −1 conductivity in the soil without nitrogen fertilization. BIOMASSA E PIGMENTOS CLOROPLASTÍDICOS EM MUDAS DE JAQUEIRA SOB ESTRESSE SALINO E ADUBAÇÃO NITROGENADARESUMO -A irrigação com água salina é uma necessidade mundial e o excesso de sais da água ou do solo, causa inibição no crescimento e no rendimento da grande maioria das plantas cultivadas. Nesse contexto, os fertilizantes nitrogenados podem constituir alternativa para a mitigação dos efeitos dos sais sobre as plantas. Com isso, objetivou-se avaliar o acúmulo de biomassa e o índice de pigmentos clorofiláticos em mudas de jaqueira irrigadas com água de salinidades crescentes no solo com fontes de nitrogênio. Os tratamentos foram distribuídos em blocos casualizados com quatro repetições e com três plantas por parcela, arranjados em fatorial 5 × 3, relativo aos níveis de condutividade elétrica da água de irrigação de 0,3; 1,0; 2,0; 3,0 e 4,0 dS m -1 , no solo sem nitrogênio, com sulfato de amônio e com ureia aplicados parceladamente aos 60 e 75 dias após a semeadura. O aumento da salinidade da água elevou a salinidade do solo, a qual foi intensificada pela dose de 150 mg de N, principalmente quando aplicada na forma de sulfato de amônio, ao ponto de inibir a formação de massa da matéria seca e os teores de clorofila em mudas de jaqueira. As maiores reduções no índice de clorofila a e b foram nas mudas de jaqueira irrigadas com água de 4,0 dS m -1 no solo sem adubação nitrogenada. Bovine manure biofertilizers can exert physical, chemical, and biological effects on the soil and the phytoprotective, physiological, and productive actions in horticultural crops. The literature review was performed to compile information on the production, uses, and effects of bovine manure biofertilizers on soil properties and plants. Biofertilizers are produced by organic components, minerals, and inoculants. Among the organic sources, the bovine manure is the most used. The fermentation of the bovine manure in water constitutes the Vairo biofertilizer, the most employed in Brazilian horticulture. With the chemical enrichment of this preparation came the Supermagro, Agrobio, and Agrobom biofertilizers. In the soil, it can act in the improvement of soil fertility, physical properties, and in the diversity and abundance of the biota. Also, it can act in control of pests and diseases, leaf composition concerning macro and micronutrients, and in the production and post-harvest quality of horticultural crops. Therefore, this review describes the preparation, chemical composition, and utilization of bovine manure biofertilizers in both soil and plants, offering perspectives of research on the formulations, application, and effects of these inputs on horticultural species.

The response of plants to salt stress is an extremely complex phenomenon that involves morphological, physiological and biochemical changes, modifying the leaf contents of chlorophyll and carotenoids, among others and affecting plant growth, development and production. An experiment was carried out from July 2010 to June 2011, in order to evaluate the contents of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, total chlorophyll, carotenoids, the chlorophyll a/b ratio and biomass accumulation of shoots and roots of noni plants, when subjected to irrigation and leaching with water of increasing salinity. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse, at the Center of Agricultural Sciences of the Federal University of Paraíba, in the municipality of Areia-PB, Brazil. Treatments were distributed in randomized blocks, in a 5 × 2 factorial scheme with four replicates and two plants per plot, and corresponded to levels of electrical conductivity of irrigation water (0.5; 1.5; 3.0; 4.5 and 6.0 dS m-1) in pots with and without leaching. The increase in irrigation water salinity impairs the leaf contents of chlorophyll a, b, total chlorophyll, carotenoids and biomass production of noni plants, but to a lesser extent in all the treatments in which same irrigation water was used for leaching.
