0.1. Con el auge de los estudios neorretóricos desde mediados de los años sesenta (A. Schiaffini, 1962;Christensen, 1967; M. Maccoby, 1973;L Heilmann, 1978), se ha producido una situación general más próxima casi siempre al desconcierto que a la clarificación en puntos esenciales. Con mucha frecuencia las causas de ese confusionismo arrancan de un deficiente entendimiento de la auténtica dimensión científica de la Retórica, aunque esto pueda quizá escandalizar como afirmación de entrada a algunas personas. A la Retórica se han acercado en los últimos decenios dos tipos al menos de estudiosos, dotados de formación y de intereses muy distintos. De una parte los investigadores de la tradición clásica, como Lausberg (Lausberg, 1960;Martin, 1974), movidos de una voluntad de reexhumación en todos sus extremos y dimensiones de la ciencia Retórica. Sin embargo, es necesario reconocer que ha faltado, incluso en los mejores casos, como el del propio Lausberg, capacidad o quizá voluntad de integración de esa disciplina perfectamente rescatada en la mayoría de sus enunciados y adecuadamente articulada en sus clasificaciones, en los esquemas de las modernas disciplinas del discurso. Esto resulta a primera vista y sin paliativos escasamente acertado. Ya que la Lingüística moderna, pariente muy próxima de la Retórica incluso en la gran variedad de sus vías metodológicas de acceso al fenómeno del lenguaje, ofrece un balance ejemplar, si no perfecto, dentro del desarrollo de las llamadas 7

Con el desarrollo de la lingüística textual (Petófi, García Berrio, 1979) ha sido posible el tratamiento por la Lingüística de determinados aspectos del lenguaje fuera del alcance de aquellas corrientes de investigación lingüística que no llegaban más allá de la unidad lingüística oración. La obtención del nivel textual permite él estudio de la organización del texto como producto lingüístico formado por unidades inferiores que responden a una globalidad de intencionalidad comunicativa (Albaladejo Mayordomo, García Berrio, 1982). Pero la lingüística textual ni debe ni puede olvidar las aportaciones realizadas al conocimiento de esta muy importante parcela de la realidad lingüística por las ciencias clásicas del discurso, Retórica y Poética.Disciplinas distintas, Retórica y Poética han quedado constituidas desde la Antigüedad como las dos grandes ciencias del texto y su comunicación, ocupándose inicialmente ésta de los textos literarios y aquélla de los no literarios. Ambas disciplinas presentan una fuerte interrelación, que descansa sobre su interés por la unidad texto así, numerosas nociones procedentes de la Retórica pasaron a enriquecer el arsenal poético, aplicándose, de este modo, al estudio del texto literario categorías en principio elaboradas para dar cuenta de productos de lengua no literaria. Por otra parte, se ha producido la hipertrofia de una parte del doctrinal retórico, la elocutiva correspondiente al estudio de las figuras (Plett, 1977), en detrimento del interés por las cuestiones 127
