Crisis in 2020 is the impact of unexpected Covid-19 spreading all around the world in which period all social and economic aspects are forced to slowing down or even temporarily stopped. In almost all countries in the world, only few sectors are allowed to run the business normally. The sectors are mainly business offering basic needs such as grocery stores, certain food and beverage, and medical. The phenomena attack blatantly hospitality sectors and it must be faced by the stakeholders of the industry. In Indonesia, hospitality industry does suffer. The human centric characteristic of the industry requires interactions between people. Human interactions are well explained as the core activities in tourism industry in the old normal while it is to be avoided during the new normal of Covid-19. Business owners and managers fight against the condition which finally pushed them hardly to unfortunate decisions for the human capital of the industry and for many other strategic issues. The crisis is present and brings a huge impact to the hospitality sector that includes hotel and restaurant business. This study is to describe the picture of how this sector in Jakarta area overcomes the pandemic situation and until what extent the management is capable to handle. A qualitative research is conducted with narrative approach, by empathising to the human capital in the sector using grounded theory approach. Challenges are encountered by the hospitality practitioners and each one of them are trying to survive with their own way.
Tourism in protected areas contributes to the financial sustainability of its sites. It has a positive impact on a stakeholder within and beyond the destinations through effective and efficient benefitsharing. This study examine the environmental attitudes, community attachment, economic gain, and community involvement that will impact to the stakeholder perceptions to revitalization project in Komodo National Park, Indonesia. In the context of protected areas of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO, this project related to the extensive tourism infrastructure development from nature-based tourism to a new project of Jurassic Park. The concerns regarding the stakeholders' support may have on expectations for tourism development. This research use the Social Exchange Theory (SET) and Weber's Theory of Substantive and Formal Rationality (WTSFR) with a quantitative approach. A total of 182 questionnaires with Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) were applied. Finding provides that stakeholder perceptions play a significant role as a mediator in shaping the relationship between each of variables to support tourism development. Ultimately, this study paves the way for improving normative practices toward Sustainability and offers practical solutions to the challenges the government and nongovernment organizations face to protect the endangered species, society, and the environment.
Pengembangan diri berguna untuk siswa vokasi melengkapi keterampilan diri dalam berkarir dimasa mendatang. Sekolah vokasi membekali siswa dalam keterampilan teknis yang dapat diaplikasikan didunia kerja. Namun, keterampilan soft-skills menjadi penentu motivasi dan perkembangan karir profesionalitas. Kemampuan siswa dalam berkomunikasi, berkerjasama, kreatif, dapat memecahkan masalah serta kepemimpinan menjadi hal yang dibutuhkan industri. Namun, Pandemi Covid-19 telah membatasi siswa vokasi untuk melatih soft-skills dan hard-skills. Dengan keterbatasan ini, maka ada beberapa keterampilan yang tidak bisa diasah secara maksimal. Disisi lain, Industri Pariwisata membutuhkan individu dengan kualitas yang mumpuni. Keadaan kontras ini membuat para siswa harus bersaing lebih ketat dalam mempersiapkan diri. Terbatasnya interaksi dan kebutuhan kualitas yang tetap tinggi dapat dipecahkan melalui pelatihan yang diselenggarakan oleh Universitas Multimedia Nusantara untuk mendukung pengembangan diri siswa vokasi Indonesia. Pelatihan ini bekerjasama dengan SMKN 7 Kabupaten Tangerang secara daring melalui Aplikasi Zoom, sehingga dapat berjalan dengan efektif dimasa Pandemi Covid-19. Materi dan modul yang disiapkan oleh tim pengusul mampu memberikan pemahaman secara komperhensif oleh siswa/siswi SMKN 7. Kegiatan ini memenuhi kebutuhan siswa/siswi vokasi dalam pengembangan potensi diri baik dalam segi akademis maupun praktis.
The Covid-19 pandemic has a wide and deep impact that has changed patterns of life and behavior both in the business sector and in daily human activities. One of the changing patterns of activity is in the education industry, many educational institutions across the world have closed due to this pandemic, and it could jeopardize the academic calendar. Most educational institutes have shifted to online learning platforms to keep academic activities going. However, the question about the preparedness, designing, and effectiveness of e-learning is still not clearly understood, particularly in Indonesia where the technical constraints like suitability of devices and bandwidth availability pose a serious challenge. This issue is even more challenging in the hospitality vocational education. This paper aims to dig deeper the online learning patterns in the perspective of the students in vocational education as the impact of the pandemic. This study uses a qualitative method by conducting in-depth interviews of 15 participants with the expected result to provide information that can help various parties, such as vocational institutions, teachers, and the hotel industry.
