Nitrous oxide serves as a green propellant for space applications; however, an active and stable catalyst is required for its decomposition. A new class of material (X-type hexaferrites) was tested for this reaction for the first time. The catalysts were prepared by a co-precipitation method and a pure single hexagonal phase was confirmed by XRD and SEM. The developed pure and doped catalysts were found to be catalytically active for nitrous oxide decomposition reaction and the activity increased with increasing dopant content.However, Cr-Mn co-doped materials showed higher catalytic activity than Mn-doped samples. The cationic substitution and surface defects (oxygen vacancies) were found to be responsible for the upsurge of activity. The desired stability of the developed catalyst added to its potential for applicability.

The catalysts utilized for oxidative desulfurization have acquired significant attention and ability to improve the quality of the fuel oil by removing sulfur. In this work, the catalysts used for oxidative desulfurization include CoWO4 and Bi2WO6 with graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) as support were synthesized by the one-pot hydrothermal method. Graphitic carbon nitride was obtained by thermal polycondensation of melamine at 550°C for 5 h. These catalysts were homogeneously dispersed on the surface of the support and their structure, morphology, and properties were determined by different characterization techniques (Powder X-Ray Diffractometer, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy and Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy, Specific Surface Area (Brunauer, Emmett and Teller (SBET)). The parameters that affect the efficiency of the desulfurization process such as catalyst amount, amount of oxidizing agent, and reaction temperature have been optimized thoroughly. The oxidative desulfurization reaction was studied in terms of kinetics which shows that reaction is pseudo first order. The thermodynamic studies revealed that the reaction is endothermic and spontaneous in nature. The results determined that the catalytic efficiency for the removal of sulfur (as dibenzothiophene) is more than 90% in the presence of support (g-C3N4) to obtain sulfur free fuel.

A series of imidazolium‐based symmetrical and asymmetrical dicationic ionic liquids (DcILs) with alkyl spacers of different length and with [FeCl 3 Br] − as counter ion have been synthesized. The synthesized DcILs are characterized by using FTIR and Raman spectroscopy as well as mass spectrometry, along with single‐crystal XRD analysis. Physicochemical properties such as solubility, thermal stability and magnetic susceptibility are also measured. These compounds show low melting points, good solubility in water and organic solvents, thermal stability, and paramagnetism. The products of molar susceptibility and temperature (χ mol ⋅T) for the synthesized DcILs have been found between 4.05 to 4.79 emu mol −1 K Oe −1 and effective magnetic moment values have also been determined to be compared to that expected from the spin‐only approximation.

A series of imidazolium and pyridinium-based bridged dicationic ionic liquids have been analysed using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The different electronic environments of the dications have been investigated and a robust fitting model for the carbon C1s region has also been developed. The relative positions of different C1s components and N1s of dications have been determined and their complex C1s photoemission spectra produced from both aromatic and aliphatic carbon states giving photoemission peaks in the binding energy range of 289.0–283.9 eV. A contemporary fitting approach has been applied to a different set of environments which allowing comparison of the binding energies of cationic components of imidazolium and pyridinium-based dicationic ionic liquids. The experimental stoichiometry of all the carbons and nitrogens have also been calculated from XP spectra of the dicationic ionic liquids.

A series of new thiourea based carboxylic acids (Ia-Ie) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, FTIR and NMR (1 H and 13C) spectroscopy. They were preliminary bioassayed for their antibacterial, anifungal and urease inhibition activities. Molecular docking simulations were carried out to determine the probable binding mode of the synthesized compounds. The bioassay results showed that some of titled compounds exhibited encouraging results.
