Most students in Indonesia find it difficult to understand the concepts of mathematics correctly. This is caused by the factor of teacher who doesn’t master the learning method according to the class situation and the factor of the students who are less interested in learning mathematics. The DDCT is suitable in this case, the purpose of this study is to find out the effect of the DDCT and how much it affects the students' ability to understand concepts at SMPN 7 Ambon. This research is quantitative looking for the relationship between variables, with a pre-experimental design of the type of one-shot case study. The samples taken were students of class X-1 (experimental) and X-2 (control), each of which amounted to 15 people at SMPN 7 Ambon. Data were collected on concept understanding ability tests and questionnaires used for student responses during learning using DDCT. Data were analyzed through hypothesis testing and determinant coefficients using SPSS 22.0. The results showed that the average value of the experimental class was 88.67 and the control class was 60, so there was a difference in the average value of 28.67. From the results of the analysis obtained tcount = 0.862 ttable = 0.05, it is concluded that there is an effect of DDCT on students' understanding of mathematical concepts. The findings during the research showed that DDCT: 1) can be used to train students to more easily understand a material, and 2) deep dialogue/critical thinking emphasizes attitude and mental emotional so that students learn with fun.
This paper discussed efforts to improve English learning skills using social networking. The author believes that most students now learning English as a foreign language certainly need more opportunities to practice excellently to relax their learning. However, progress in learning English is often identified with fluency in communicating with fellow students, not in terms of fluency in speaking using various social media applications so that such an atmosphere presents an open feel for students in the form of not only communicating in friendship but still looking for robust learning solutions. This review tries to describe how the benefits of social networks are not only valuable as friendships but can improve English proficiency for students in Indonesia. The data that we found was then analyzed from various sources and perspectives, which were the results of secondary data in book publications, scientific papers, and websites that discussed foreign language learning issues using social media networks. Based on the study results and discussion, we conclude that foreign language learning is like a social network. The reason is that through social media, there are now many types of social media that can be used to learn English in an effective and relaxed manner, all of which provide a variety of features and content that make learning more polite but still helpful.
Teaching in higher education is generally carried out by involving a series of methods and technologies for learning and research activities. Many studies have been conducted to examine and evaluate the role of technology and the achievement of learning outcomes in higher education. The article analyzed how the role of technological transformation with all its applications has supported research-based learning activities at Sheikh Yusuf University Tangerang. The method used descriptive qualitative design, and the literature review supports us. Through semi-structured interviews, the researchers obtained many data, then analyzed with a phenomenological approach. The researchers examined the data from interviews. Based on the analysis academic interview data, it can be concluded that the results, including understanding the role of technological transformation with several applications that support research-based learning activities at the higher education level, have been carried out well at Sheikh Yusuf University, Tangerang. Thus, it is hoped that these brief findings can be used as supporting data for similar research in the future. This article aimed to analyze the student learning experiences during the pandemic at Universitas Islam Syekh-Yusuf Tangerang. The researchers used a qualitative method. The collecting data used interviews and observation. Interview conducted on several lecturers and academics to get data analysis. Then examined the results of the interviews to get the essence and data findings that could answer the problems of this study and hypotheses. Based on data analysis the researchers concluded that the digital or technology-based learning experience during the remote learning period in response to the pandemic has indicated that learning was exciting because either lecturers and students have established very synergistic collaborations to produce learning quality that was as expected. Therefore, the results of this study could be a meaningful input for future studies. Keywords: Student Learning Experience, Technology Based Learning, Learning From Home
Learning English has its own challenge for Junior High school students in Indonesia. One of the ways to cope with the challenges is by enhancing students’ affective factors such as self-confidence, language ego, risk-taking willingness, and connecting with first language culture. However, researches on these types of affective factors are insufficient thus the researchers were interested to conduct research on the topic. The current study was implementing the narrative qualitative method, where EFL teaching activity was observed. It intended to analyze the teachers’ effort to develop EFL students’ affective variables. The EFL class observed the 9th grade of a private junior high school in West Java which was involving one EFL teacher and 29 students. The research shows that teachers did give favor the development of students’ affective variables as many as 32% from the lists observed. However, it is not sufficient, not programmed, and not systematical. The researchers suggest the educators systematically enhance students’ affective factors in the classroom setting. For further research, it is recommended to conduct research related to the effective factors with broader scopes and samples.
