Indonesia is known as a nation that has many privileges such as cultural diversity and local wisdom. Cultural diversity that includes ethnic, linguistic and religious diversity is a gift and grace from God Almighty that must be managed and well maintained by all elements of the nation. Caring for diversity and harmonization in multicultural society in the era of information technology or globalization is the biggest challenge of the day. The goal is to maintain harmony and unity in the midst of a multicultural society. In such conditions the ability and understanding of the language politeness play an important role in maintaining the harmonization of multicultural society. Based on that, this article aims to reveal that the problems that can threaten the unity and integrity of this republic are not only derived from differences of certain political and ideological attitudes, but may also originate and begin from languages impoliteness to hate speech. Applying language politeness theory proposed by Pranowo (2009) which extracted values embedded the local wisdom of the Indonesian is considered capable in anticipating hate speech actions. Thus harmonization in multicultural society in Indonesia can be well maintained.
A characteristic inherent in a democratic State is a guarantee of freedom of opinion and expression by every citizen. However, the space for freedom cannot be misused to express various ideas or views so that it becomes a tool to attack human rights and the freedom of others manifested in the form of hate speech. Acts of hate speech are currently getting more and more attention from various circles, not only for law enforcers and practitioners, politicians, information and communication technology experts. But it is also a very serious concern for the Indonesian government to form and give birth to regulations concerning to handling of hate speech. Moreover, caring for diversity and harmonization in diversity in the era of globalization of information technology is the biggest challenge today. In this study, phenomenology is used as research design whereas purposive sampling from online media is used to collect the data. The aim is to maintain unity in the midst of a multicultural community life such as Batu Bara. On the other hand, the emergence of discussions about hate speech actually gave the object of a new study for linguistics. Based on the linguistic perspective, hate speech is a phenomenon of offensive language that can present linguistic data and can be analyzed linguistically. Therefore, this article conceptually describes the role of linguistics and linguists in understanding and explaining the subject of hate speech.
Kawasan Desa Wisata Parsingguran II, Kecamatan Pollung, Kabupaten Humbang Hasundutan memiliki potensi wisata pedesaan yang sangat potensial untuk dikembangkan. Desa ini memiliki karakteristik yang menarik yaitu alam, budaya dan agrowisata. Ketiga potensi ini masih dalam proses pengembangan oleh kelompok desa, sehingga potensi ini harus didorong dan dikembangkan sesuai dengan karakteristik sosial budaya masyarakat. Pengembangan potensi wisata berbasis kearifan lokal merupakan upaya strategis dalam membangun Desa Wisata Parsingguran II. Pengembangan Desa Wisata Parsinguran II merupakan investasi jangka panjang dan potensial bagi pemerintah karena Desa Parsingguran II adalah desa pinggiran danau toba yang merupakan program pemerintah dalam pengembangan pariwisata super prioritas di Indonesia. Kegiatan pengabdian ini diharapkan mampu memperbaiki dan meningkatkan taraf ekonomi masyarakat di Desa Parsingguran II.
