The present study aimed to evaluate the influence of row spacing, plant density, crop year and yield in crop agronomic parameters in a ‘Cerrado’ area in Brazil. The experiments were conducted during the 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 crop years, at an experimental Farm of the IF Goiás Campus Ceres, located in the city of Ceres, Goiás, Brazil. The experiment was conducted in a complete randomized block design in a 2x3x2 factorial (two crop years: 2010/2011 and 2011/2012, three population densities: 60,000, 70,000 and 80,000 plants ha-1 and two spacing: 0.50 and 0.80 m) with four repetitions, totaling 48 plots. The observed values for plant height and cob height were higher for the 2011/2012 season with values of 2.56 and 1.26 m, respectively. The cob diameter was higher for the 2011/2012 crop year with a value of 51.92 mm. The yield was higher for the 2010/2011 harvest. Increasing plant population and reducing row spacing can lead to an increase on the grain yield due to better spatial distribution of plants per area, fact observed mainly during the 2010/2011 crop year. Corn maintains high productivity with spacing of 0.50 and 0.80m. Increases in plant density can lead to increase on yield. Increasing plant population reduced the corn stem diameter.
Most academic studies on passion fruit culture are directed at the Passiflora edulis species for their commercial value, however, the agronomic potential of wild passion fruit species has not been fully explored, deserving further attention and research in the area. The objective of the present work was to evaluate the rooting of passion fruit cuttings from the Cerrado treated with indolbutyric acid in different concentrations. Stakes with two buds were used and harvested in the municipality of Uruaçu-GO. The cuttings were subjected to the application of five concentrations of indolbutyric acid (0, 250, 500, 1000 and 2000 mg L-1). The experimental design was a completely randomized design, with five replications and 10 cuttings per experimental unit. The cuttings were evaluated 45 days after planting. The variables used were the stakes: live; with remaining leaves, rooted and cuttings with calluses. The dosage of 1000 mg L-1 of IBA promoted a greater number of live cuttings and, consequently, greater rooting of stem cuttings for Passiflora nitida.
The efficiency of waste from industrial processing has been increasingly studied in the control of phytonematoids, especially filter cake, coffee husks and sugar cane bagasse. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of organic residues through the use of filter cake to reduce the population density of Pratylenchus brachyurus (Tylenchida: Pratylenchidae). The first experiment was conducted in a greenhouse in the completely randomized design in the 2 × 4 factorial scheme (soybean genotypes vs. filter cake doses) with four replications using soybean genotypes AS 3810 IPRO and LG60163 IPRO and the second experiment was carried out under the same conditions, with maize AG 1051 with four doses of filter cake with 7 replications. In both experiments, the planting was carried out in an area located in the city of Goianésia, Goiás, Brazil. The results showed that the population density of Pratylenchus brachyurus in the maize crop to grow AG 1051 did not show statistically significant difference by applying the different doses of filter cake. In soybean genotypes AS 3810 IPRO and LG60163 IPRO were affected in ways contrary to phytonematoid infestation, in which AS 3810 IPRO showed a population increase according to the increase of the applied amounts of filter cake, whereas in the cultivar LG60163 IPRO there was a decrease for doses of 10 tonnes/ha-1 and 30 tonnes/ha-1, with an increase of only 20 tonnes/ha-1.
Several studies have done more on weed and nematode hosts. It is important to know a host of weeds and P. brachyurus in areas cultivated with soy. This nematode can stay in weed roots even in the absence of plants grown in the off-season, making it difficult to control them. The objective was to evaluate the host suitability of emerged weed species in cultivated areas with a soybean crop to the P. brachyurus nematode under natural infestation conditions. The surveys were conducted in commercial properties located in the municipalities of Campinorte and Rialma, both in the northern region of the state of Goias, Brazil under the no-tillage and conventional system, respectively, with a history of high nematode population densities. We evaluated 19 weed species with the highest expressivity in the properties. The population densities of the nematode ranged RFom 23 to 17,113 and 55 to 4,221 specimens per 10 grams of roots respectively. All as weed species evaluated as hosts of P. brachyurus. As species, Hyptis suaveolens, Sida cardifolia, Senna occidentalis, Coneyza canadensis and Commelina benghalensis had low population densities.
