Labiaplasty had a positive impact on sexual functioning of the study population.
The nose represents the most common site for the presentation of cutaneous cancer, especially in sun-exposed areas: ala, dorsum, and tip. Even the smallest loss of substance can create aesthetic and psychosocial concerns for patients; therefore, surgeons who perform nasal reconstruction should be strictly confident with the pertinent surgical anatomy in order to tailor the procedure to the patient’s condition and needs. Radical tumor excision and satisfactory aesthetic and functional results are primary targets. Restoring the original shape is the goal of any reconstruction: appropriate reshaping of three-dimensional geometry, proper establishment of symmetry, and excellent color and texture match to the adjacent structures are paramount features. Multiple options exist to re-establish functional and aesthetic integrity after surgical oncology; nevertheless, the management of nasal defects can be often challenging, and the gold standard is yet to be found. The current goal is to highlight some of the more common techniques used to reconstruct cutaneous defects of the nose with a specific focus on decision making based on the aesthetic subunit and defect size. The authors attempt to share common pitfalls and offer practical suggestions that they have found helpful in their clinical experience.
Abdominoplastia multifuncional: estudio retrospectivo de 5 años de experiencia con 108 pacientes Resumen AbstractMultifunctional abdominoplasty: a five year retrospective study with 108 patients Through a bimanual maneuver, based on reduction mammaplasty according to Pitanguy's technique, we changed the dissection way, starting from cephalic to podalic and from lateral to medial, becoming resection of the fat flap more simple, quicker and safer to proceed. We emphasize that the most important point in this technique is don't undermine the remaining flaps to create traction vectors that increase vascular security, and because of it, reduce complications like seroma, hematoma, and flap necrosis. Besides, there is no necessity for blood transfusion. In a 5 year perior, we follow up 108 patients, 59 woman and 49 man, with massive weight loss (between 35 to 145 Kg), ages ranging from 18 to 68 years, who underwent multifunctional abdominoplasty with flap resection ranging from 2.2 to 21.5 Kg. The average hospitalization time was 2 to 7 days, returning to regular activities between 10 to 15 days.By this study we demonstrate that multifunctional abdominoplasty is an easily reproducible technique, that allows it's application in any age and brings more securi...
The articles with a higher level of evidence are, on average, cited more often than those with low levels of evidence in the leading journals of plastic surgery.
Although the surgeon selects treatments for patients based on their deformities, it must be kept in mind that treatments must be selected to satisfy the patient's needs and preferences.
Mama/cirurgia. Procedimentos Cirúrgicos Reconstrutivos. Cirurgia Plástica. ABSTRACT Introduction:Twenty five female patients submitted to breast reduction by periareolar approach for at least 10 years follow-up were selected. There was no intent to compare the technique with others routinely used for mammaplasty or only mastopexy. Objective: To evaluate the benefits and disadvantages of this technique in a long term follow-up. Methods: Several criteria were analyzed such as volume, shape, symmetry, nipple-areola complex sensibility, scars quality, as well as patient's opinion of their aesthetic results. Besides that, complications and re-intervention rates and satisfaction grade were also considered. Results: The majority of the patients accepted to be submitted to mammaplasty by periareolar approach. The breasts shape and volume remained stable with a high acceptable and satisfaction rates by the patients. The main complain was related to the scar's quality. Conclusion:The final analysis proved that the periareolar approach is a very efficient procedure in selected group of patient with small to mild breast volume, with small to moderate ptosis and with moderate to good skin turgor. The main disadvantage of the technique is the tendency of the scar to enlarge in long term post-operative period.
