Leisure physical activity and health: a systematic review AbstractThis paper analyzes what has been produced in the scientific literature on leisure and health physical activity in the last six years (2010)(2011)(2012)(2013)(2014)(2015). There are discussions on the subject that involve both biological and human sciences knowledge and for effective social intervention it is essential that such knowledge be identified. For this, a systematic review of the literature was carried out and the Lilacs, Scielo and articles published in the Brazilian Journal of Physical Activity & Health were used as reference. It was observed that the relation between physical activity of leisure and health, in most studies, is understood as a way of minimizing or avoiding diseases. In selected articles, leisure is a category related to the time and place in which subjects perform physical activity. It was concluded that there is little exploration of the contributions of leisure studies to the health of the population.
Abstract:For those who share a religious view of the world, everyday practices are consciously or unconsciously mediated by religious knowledge. This applies to bodily practices present at school. This article looks into how evangelical girls belonging to the Assemblies of God and the Christian Congregation signify bodily practices in everyday life, ascribing them meanings that are produced in a relational process -between the Church and the Physical Education (PE) class. Based on ethnographic research, we found that the girls' view of bodily practices is produced under everyday tension between what they learn in Church and in PE classes. A large part of Brazilian evangelicals, from traditional groups, have restrictions related to the body which drive them away from sporting activities, dancing, gymnastics, and other corporal practices. Nevertheless, many of them participate in activities during Physical Education classes, as this is a school discipline. Therefore, this research aims to analyze how and if experiences in corporal practices during Physical Education classes are capable of transforming the relations of evangelical students with these practices and the 'use of the body' in leisure practices. We carried out ethnographic research in two public schools in São Paulo state for a school year, in Secondary Education classes. The analyses presented are the fruit of our daily observations and the discourse of the students selected. The results suggested that churches have been attempted to govern their follower's corporal practices. However, there are breaches during Physical Education classes that allow young evangelicals to experience secular activities.
In Brazil, many students dislike Physical Education classes because of content repetition, dissatisfactory curricular organization, among other factors. This work aims at assessing the efficiency of a proposal for Physical Education classes, which includes contents of physical activities and the use of comic books. This is a qualitative study and both bibliographic and field researches were carried out. Ten classes were held to a group of ninth graders from a public school in the city of Piracicaba/SP/Brazil. We found that the use of comic books as a teaching resource is effective: it portrays the experiences that the students, felt and mediated through their “rational” and “sensitive” knowledge about physical activities.
