Moringa oleifera leaf contains quercetin act as an analgesic by inhibiting cyclooxygenase and lipooxygenase. These enzymes interfere synthesis of prostaglandins by arachidonic acid and lead to reduce pain. This study aimed to obtain a physically stable M/A cream formula from the lyophilized ethanol extract of Moringa leaf and to determine the irritation effect. The cream prepared with variations of cetyl alcohol concentration F1 (2%), F2 (4%,) and F3 (6%). The cream stability was determined with organoleptic, homogeneity, type of emulsion, pH, viscosity, and spreadability parameters after accelerated condition. The Irritancy test was determined to the Albino Oryctolagus cuniculus. The results showed that F1 has the best stability than F2 and F3 and showed irritation index 0,5 classified as moderate irritation.
Antioxidants are compounds that can inhibit or prevent oxidation reactions, which are the result of chemical reactions and metabolic processes that occur in the body. Enhalus acoroides is a type of seagrass found in Indonesian waters, generally living in sandy sediments with high bioturbation. Lamun has good nutrition and fiber so that it can be a source of food and medicine. The aim of this study was to examine the antioxidant activity of the seagrass extract Enhalus acoroides against ABTS radicals (2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid). The results of the study of seagrass extract using ethanol solvents had a very strong antioxidant category ie 38,008 µg /ml, the smaller the absorbance value, the higher the inhibitory value in which the antioxidant activity of the extract is higher, but when compared with the routine compound control of 0.500 µg /ml, seagrass ethanol extract is still lower.
ABSTRAK Kersen (Muntingia calabura L.) leaves is a plant that contains flavonoids as antioxidants which can be formulated in Solid Lipid Microparticle. The aim of this study is to make Solid Lipid Microparticle cream loaded ethanol extract of kersen leaves preparation and evaluated it’s physical stability. Solid Lipid Microparticle was made of 3% kersen leaves ethanol extract with entrapment efficiency 85.75% formulated in cream preparation with variation of cetyl alcohol concentration namely F1 (2%), F2 (4%), F3 (6%), then tested it’s stability before and after accelerated storage using climatic chamber. The results showed that the three formulas fulfilled the quality of preparation with organoleptic, homogenity, type of cream, viscosity, pH, and spreadability parameters before and after accelerated conditions. Keywords : Kersen leaves, Muntingia calabura L., physical stability, Solid Lipid Microparticle Cream
