Presents problem/focus of study The Covid-19 outbreak has had a staggering impact on the global economy, public health and safety, trade and education. In Malaysia, the government implemented the Movement Control Order (MCO) as a preventive measure against Covid-19. In education, the learning process has been transferred to online teaching. However, pandemic pedagogy is making learning into completely online either synchronous or asynchronous. Therefore, the current research aims to determine the secondary school teachers’ psychological status, competencies in e-teaching and teachers work motivation as well as determine the relationship between secondary school teachers’ psychological status and competencies in e-teaching during the Covid-19 outbreak. Design/methodology/approach Current research is a descriptive-correlational quantitative survey to determine teachers’ psychological status, e-teaching competencies and working motivation during Movement Control Order (MCO) to contain the Covid-19 pandemic. The study sample consists of 595 secondary school teachers selected via convenient sampling. Quantitative data are collected from an online survey through the questionnaires with demographic, psychological status (stress, anxiety and depression), e-teaching competencies (teaching, monitoring and evaluation) and teaching motivation developed by the researchers were distributed during the MCO period. SPSS 25 is applied, Statistical measures such as Cronbach's alpha, means, percentage and standard deviation were employed to analyze the data to obtain the value of the school teachers’ psychological status, e-teaching competencies and teaching motivation. Consequently, a Pearson correlation table was created to show the analysis of the school teachers’ psychological status and competencies in e-teaching. Findings This finding indicated that the teachers’ psychological factors in stress, anxiety and depressed are moderate, the teachers’ competencies in e-teaching is moderate as well as teachers’ working motivations is also the moderate level. However, the highest mean value was found among the variables, this is revealed that despite the challenges during the Covid-19 outbreak, teachers showed positive and strong motivation in conducting e-teaching. Additionally, the result showed a negative relationship between psychological status and e-teaching competencies (-0.286, p<0.01), as well as reported a negative relationship between dimension of psychological status and competencies in e-teaching. Limitation & recommendations This study has its limitations. This study is included only Selangor teachers and given that the information obtained from the study was gather from secondary schools, the generalizability might be limited. future research may consider expanding the scope from secondary schools to primary schools’ teachers and then to university lecturers. We proposed a current/temperature cooperative control to solve the problem of laser aging in the conventional fast wavelength switching method when injecting a larger current at the tunable distributed feedback (DFB) laser array (TLA). Previously, we demonstrated a 400-GHz-wide uni-directional switching at a single DFB laser in the TLA with the cooperative control, which switched fastly and retarded laser aging. For large-scale optical communication systems, we have improved the cooperative control method and expanded its application scenarios. In this paper, we not only proposed and achieved bi-directional wavelength switching with cooperative control at a single DFB laser but also realized bi-directional wavelength switching with cooperative control covering full-C-band at two DFB lasers of the TLA. We demonstrated that the switching time is less than 200 ms and estimated that the TLA’s lifetime is improved by more than 40 times.
Organizational commitment among employees is important to determine organizational effectiveness as employees with higher organizational commitment have higher motivation to stay with their organization. In recent years, previous studies have shown that the teachers’ organizational commitment are low and moderate. Therefore, this study focuses on the effect of work passion toward organizational commitment with work intention as the mediator. The objectives of this study was to determine the effect of work passion on work intention and organizational commitment among teachers and to determine the role of work intention as a mediator in the effect of work passion on organizational commitment among teachers. This study employed a cross-sectional survey involving 355 school teachers in Malaysia through multi-stage cluster sampling technique. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, while confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modeling (SEM) were used to determine the fitness of the model with the data. Findings showed that organizational commitment and work passion among school teachers were moderate, while work intention was at a higher level. SEM analysis showed that the model has a good fit with CMIN/df= 3.22, GFI = 0.95, CFI=0.97, TLI=0.95, RMSEA=0.08. In addition, job factors have a significant direct effect on work intention and organizational commitment. Results also showed that work intention mediated the relationship between work passion and organizational commitment. The results of this imply the importance of work passion and work intention in enhancing organizational commitment among teachers in Malaysia.
Peranan tingkahlaku kewargaan organisasi pada masa kini adalah sangat penting bagi memastikan organisasi dapat berkembang dengan baik dan cemerlang, terutamanya dalam kalangan guru sekolah. Sehubungan itu, kajian tinjauan telah dijalankan untuk menentukan Analisis Pengesahan Faktor (CFA) bagi skala tingkahlaku kewargaan organisasi.Kajian ini telah dijalankan ke atas seramai 361 orang guru sekolah di Selangor. Responden kajian dipilih dengan menggunakan Teknik persampelan rawak berkelompok pelbagai peringkat. Tingkahlaku kewargaan organisasi di dalam kajian ini terdiri daripada lima dimensi iaitu tingkahlaku menolong, kehematan, kesopanan, kemurnian sivik dan semangat setiakawan. Data kajian telah dianalisis dengan menggunakan CFA di dalam perisian AMOS. Dapatan menunjukkan CFA bagi tingkahlaku kewargaan organisasi tidak mencapai kesepadanan model yang baik. Oleh itu, model CFA spesifikasi semula bagi tingkahlaku kewargaan organisasi dilaksanakan. Keputusan akhir menunjukkan model CFA spesifikasi semula telah mencapai kesepadanan model yang baik dengan relatif chi-sq = 2.83, GFI = 0.91, CFI = 0.95, TLI = 0.94 dan RMSEA = 0.07. Selain itu, kriteria model CFA turut dicapai dengan jumlah keseluruhan Purata Varian Memusat (AVE) ialah 0.62, dan AVE bagi setiap dimensi tingkahlaku kewargaan organisasi adalah di antara 0.55 dan 0.73. Kebolehpercayaan konstruk (CR) telah dicapai dengan nilai 0.96, dan setiap dimensi menunjukkan CR di antara 0.79 dan 0.92. Kesimpulannya, skala tingkahlaku kewargaan organisasi adalah sesuai digunakan untuk mengukur tingkahlaku kewargaan organisasi dalam kalangan guru sekolah di Selangor. Kajian akan datang dicadangkan untuk menggunakan skala ini kepada pelbagai organisasi di Malaysia. Today workforces encounter challenging situations. Experts and leaders stated that we currently live in a volatile, unstructured, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environment. Moreover, external factors outside organizational circumstances including psychological and emotional state might influence work engagement. However, PsyCap was found to buffered and combat these negative reactions in the workplace. Quality of Work Life (QWL) was also found to be affecting work engagement. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the role of QWL among the effects between PsyCap and work engagement among employees in Company X in Batam, Indonesia. This cross-sectional study used a quantitative design and obtained the data using questionnaires. The data was analyzed using PROCESS Version 4.1. by Hayes (2020) in SPSS Version 25.0. The result shows PsyCap and QWL effects work engagement positively. Moreover, PsyCap was also found to positively effects QWL. Lastly, the result also shows that QWL partially mediated the effect between PsyCap and work engagement.
We proposed a concept of a continuous THz-wave beam steering method based on optical filters with gradient group-delay. We experimentally demonstrated a 300-GHz-wave beam steering as wide as 10 ◦ using arrayed photomixers with integrated 2×4 planar slot antennas.
