Objetivando descobrir se a percepção ambiental está associada ao grau de educação ambiental que a pessoa recebe, este artigo apresenta um estudo comparativo entre os universitários que possuem e os que não possuem na grade curricular de seus cursos uma disciplina relacionada às questões ambientais. O instrumento utilizado foi adaptado do modelo VAPERCOM. O estudo contribui à medida que avalia o comportamento do consumidor considerando sua percepção em relação à variável ambiental, fornecendo subsídios à gestão organizacional no planejamento de ações de acordo com as expectativas e avaliação dos consumidores.

As pressões da sociedade, consumidores, governo e outras organizações no cuidado com o meio ambiente levam algumas empresas a adotar medidas sobre seus impactos ambientais. A decisão de cuidar das questões ambientais precede a escolha da forma de agir, podendo ser desde a seleção de insumos adequados até a certificação da ISO 14001. Para cada possibilidade de cuidados com o meio ambiente, a empresa necessita de recursos financeiros para viabilizar o projeto. O objetivo deste artigo é de apresentar um modelo de análise de viabilidade na fabricação de produtos com alguma preocupação ambiental. Considerando que nos modelos já existentes não é realizada uma mensuração do valor para os consumidores para dar suporte às decisões de investimentos sobre a variável ambiental nas organizações, este estudo busca preencher esta lacuna. O modelo proposto é composto por seis etapas. Espera-se que este modelo genérico possa servir de apoio para as organizações definirem o volume de investimentos necessários para uma equilibrada gestão ambiental.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to present a proposal for process improvement at the Department of Social Responsibility of a Colombian process-based organization, called CAJASAN. The department has four main processes: Foniñez (children fund), Fosfec (unemployment fund), Project Management and International Cooperation and Network Management and Alliances. The objective of this paper is to suggest an improvement in these processes through BPM application. Design/methodology/approach – The authors followed the BPM method proposed by Dumas et al. (2013) for process improvement composed by process identification; process discovery; process analysis; process redesign; process implementation and process monitoring and controlling. The authors modeled the processes by using the software Bizagi®. Findings – The actual processes work in an independent way and with no communication. Moreover, the department experiences short-term problems solutions and process inefficiency. It was possible to suggest changes in three out of four processes. Practical implications – Implementing BPM in non-profit organizations (NPO) addresses many of the current management challenges faced by such organizations. NPO’s researchers and practitioners should take BPM as a potential way to help in professionalizing them. Originality/value – The authors bring an original case study about a Colombian NPO. As a process-oriented organization, the authors use BPM as a management tool to solve many challenges that the company faces nowadays.

O objetivo deste artigo é descrever quais são os fatores que condicionam o sucesso e/ou a mortalidade das micro e pequenas empresas no Estado de Santa Catarina. Para a obtenção dos dados foi realizado um estudo de campo com uma amostra de empresas registradas na Junta Comercial do Estado nos anos de 2000 a 2004. Os dados foram analisados de forma qualitativa e quantitativa sob duas perspectivas: i) fatores relevantes na história do empreendimento (real), cujas maiores médias, na pontuação dada pelos empreendedores entrevistados, foram verificadas em conhecimento do produto/mercado, foco no negócio, identificação de oportunidades, organização e adequação dos produtos; e ii) fatores que o empreendedor acredita serem os mais importantes para o sucesso (ideal), cujas maiores médias ocorreram em organização, relacionamento entre os sócios, conhecimento do mercado, foco no negócio e identificação de oportunidades.

This study aims to analyse the scientific literature on sustainability and innovation in the automotive sector in the last 13 years. The research is classified as descriptive and exploratory. The process presented 31 articles in line with the research topic in the Scopus database. The bibliometric analysis identified the most relevant articles, authors, keywords, countries, research centers and journals for the subject from 2004 to 2016 in the Industrial Engineering domain. We concluded, through the systemic analysis, that the automotive sector is well structured on the issue of sustainability and process innovation. Innovations in the sector are of the incremental process type, due to the lower risk, lower costs and less complexity. However, the literature also points out that radical innovations are needed in order to fit the prevailing environmental standards. The selected studies show that environmental practices employed in the automotive sector are: the minimization of greenhouse gas emissions, life-cycle assessment, cleaner production, reverse logistics and eco-innovation. Thus, it displays the need for empirical studies in automotive companies on the environmental practices employed and how these practices impact innovation.

Purpose: The study aimed to verify whether there is a difference of entrepreneurial potential between successful entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs who have failed; and whether there are variables that may work as a means of prediction to the success or failure of an entrepreneur. Originality/gap/relevance/implications: It brings up an innovative approach to the entrepreneurship researches, which main content is in the empirical operationalization of success and failure on business for the testing of specific hypothesis and the identification of the antecedents and consequences of entrepreneurial potential. Key methodological aspects: The research was conducted on a descriptive and quantitative approach. We applied the scale of entrepreneurial potential in 246 entrepreneurs, which 100 correspond to the analysis criteria, operationally, as successful entrepreneurs (n = 50) and entrepreneurs who failed (n = 50). Data were analysed by statistics techniques of logistic regression and Student's t test. Summary of key results: Results show that the successful entrepreneur has higher scores in entrepreneur potential scale than the entrepreneur who failed, in which the main convergence between entrepreneurial potential and business success is the setting business goals. In the investigated sample, the gender showed being a strong predictor of business success, indicating that men have 2.8 times greater chance of success in business than women. Key considerations/conclusions: In our opinion, the results found shed light on crucial elements to the explanation of business success and corroborate recent results brought by research on entrepreneurship and gender.
