Organophosphate insecticides (OP) are used widely in Turkey and are the most common agent employed for suicidal poisoning. At present there are limited data available on the distribution of OP in humans, and the aim of the study was to report insecticide concentrations in human autopsy tissues. With the use of gas chromatography-nitrogen phosphorous detector, the levels of fat, liver, and blood OP were determined from 32 suicide victims. In all cases OP were present and usually more than one OP was found. The concentration of OP was highest in fat and least in blood. Even 20 d postmortem OP could be detected in human autopsy tissues, but the correlation to fat content and mortality needs to be addressed.
Geliflmifl ülkelerde yenido¤an döneminden sonra çocukluk ça¤›nda mortalitenin önemli nedenlerinden biridir. Bebekler genellikle uyku esnas›nda ölü bulunur ve ölüme neden olacak herhangi bir bulgu yoktur. Bugüne kadar birçok çal›flma yap›lmas›na karfl›n sorumlu mekanizmalar ve fizyopatoloji henüz ayd›nlat›-lamam›fl, ancak riski art›ran birçok etken tan›mlanm›flt›r. Ça-l›flmada; ABÖS güncel literatür ›fl›¤›nda de¤erlendirilmifl, risk etkenleri gözden geçirilmifl, s›kl›¤›n›n azalt›lmas›na yönelik ön-lemler belirtilmifl, otopsinin yan› s›ra öykünün önemi de vurgulanm›flt›r.Anahtar kelimeler: Ani bebek ölümü sendromu, bebek, risk faktörleri, uyku, otopsi. SUMMARYSudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is the sudden death of an infant under 1 year of age which remains unexplained after a thorough case investigation, including performance of a complete autopsy, examination of the death scene, and review of the clinical history. It is a major cause of postneonatal mortality in developed countries. Generally, the infant is found dead after having been put to sleep and displays no signs of having suffered. Despite many years of research, underlying pathophysiology and mechanism of SIDS still remained controversial but numerous risk factors have been defined. In this article; SIDS and possible risk factors are reviewed and the precautions to decrease the incidence of SIDS and important role of autopsy and history were emphasized.
A. Madde etkisi flüphesi alt›ndaki sürücülerde tükürük analizi. Adli T›p Bülteni, 2006;11(1):19-22 ‹laç/maddelerin trafik kazalar›na etkisi bir çok yay›nda gösterilmifltir. Son on y›lda, yol üzerinde uygulanabilen madde testleriyle iliflkili birçok geliflme meydana gelmifltir. Avrupa birli¤i ROSITA projesi (Road Side Testing Assessment), kannabinoid, opiat, amfetamin ve türev-lerinin yüksek prevalans gösterdi¤i birçok yasad›fl› maddenin, farkl› biyolojik matrikslerde bulundu¤unu göstermifltir.Ege Üniversitesi ve ‹zmir Emniyet müdürlü¤ü'nün iflbirli¤i ve Cozart firmas›n›n katk›lar›yla bu proje gerçeklefltirilmifl-tir. Bu projenin amac›, bu yol üzeri uygulanan testin kullanabilirli¤i ve uygulanabilirli¤i yan›nda polis taraf›ndan karfl›lafla-bilecek problemleri saptamakt›r. Bu çal›flmada trafik kontrol noktalar›nda randomize olarak seçilen 25 araç sürücüsünde solunum havas›nda etilalkol analizi yan›nda tükürükte kötüye kullan›m› olan maddelerin analizi için Cozart Bioscience Rapiscan 5'li tükürük panel testi (kannabinoid, amfetamin, kokain, opiat ve benzodiazepin) uygulanm›flt›r. In the last decade, several interesting development have occurred in the field of roadside testing for drugs. The need for a rapid, valid and suitable roadside test for the abused drugs focused the attention on alternative matrixes including oral fluid, urine and sweat, for detecting the drivers under the influence of drugs (DUID). European Union (EU)-project ROSITA (Road Side Testing Assessment) revealed that, a wide variety of illicit drugs can be found in different biological specimen of drivers where cannabis, opiates, amphetamine and its derivatives are those with the highest prevalence.Ege University and Head Council of Turkish Police coordinated and Cozart Bioscience Limited supported this project. The objectives of this project were to detect the usability and practicability of this test, besides revealing the possible problems during roadside drug testing encountered by the police. This study was performed on an experimental basis with voluntary participation of randomly selected drivers for the de-
