Abstract. Objective: to determine the percentile values of healthy physical condition in Colombian schoolchildren between 12 and 18 years old. Materials and methods: cross-sectional observational descriptive quantitative study. The sample consisted of 3458 schoolchildren from public and private schools aged between 12 and 18 years selected by simple random sampling. The Alpha fitness extended version battery was used to collect information. Statistical analysis was performed in SPSS version 24 software. Results: normative values for age and sex are established, expressed in percentiles P3, P10, P25, P50, P75, P90 and P97. The mean BMI in men was 21.0 ± 3.2 Kg / cm2, being lower than that of women. The waist circumference and the mean of the speed test were higher in women, while the fat percentage, the aerobic capacity, the mean of the manual grasp of the hand and the mean of the longitudinal jump were higher in the men; Statistically significant differences were found p <0.05 for age and sex in most of the components of healthy physical condition. Conclusions: with this study, percentile reference values for healthy physical condition by age and sex for Colombian schoolchildren are proposed, which which becomes a tool adapted to the Latin American context, useful for the diagnosis of the components of physical condition and their relationship with health and educational elements.
Objective: to validate and adapt the Sedentary Behavior Questionnaire. Materials and methods: content adaptation and validation study, the Delphi technique was used, 18 experts evaluated the items of the questionnaire on a Likert scale regarding their relevance, utility, clarity, written form and length. Results: the questionnaire through its items assesses sedentary activity, the qualitative evaluation showed the need to adapt some questions regarding semantic to the Colombian context, the only item with an alpha lower than 0.70 was 7, the item with the highest Cronbach alpha was 10, the general Cronbach alpha of the instrument was 0.963, which is considered to be of optimal reliability. Conclusions: The content validation process showed that the Sedentary Behavior Questionnaire is a valid instrument in its content that is easy to apply and fill out, it allows a first approach to the sedentary behaviors of the subjects that can be complemented with physical tests to define the level of sedentary lifestyle, the foregoing enables the structuring of promotion and prevention programs by applying an instrument adapted and validated to the Colombian context.
Abstract. Today it is necessary to analyze health and living conditions with the so-called Social and Economic Determinants approach as relevant variables to determine the healthy physical condition behavior of school children. The objective was to estimate the best predictive model of the Social Determinants of Health and of the healthy physical condition of Colombian school children. The present was a socio-sport study, through a quantitative descriptive statistical analysis. A total of 3458 school children aged 10 to 18 from 10 cities in Colombia participated. A survey was applied to establish the Social Determinants of Health and the healthy physical condition was objectively evaluated through the extended version of the ALPHA FITNESS battery. As results, the following were obtained: a higher percentage of 15-year-old men had a healthy physical condition, age, being active, unhealthy habits, leisure activities and body mass index, and socioeconomic level, coexistence and educational level showed a statistically significant association with healthy physical condition. It is concluded that the body mass index (BMI), the permanence of the father, the number of daily meals, being a beneficiary of a school restaurant, the number of hours that he sleeps at night, are the social determinants of health that are associated with the healthy physical condition variable, in turn, the binary logit model has a good predictive capacity (70.1%).
