The commission sales form is a very significant channel of sales today, which is especially true in the field of dietary supplements. In parallel, the prevailing digitalization trends have opened up further new opportunities for this form of distribution. The multi-level optimization process presented in the publication makes it possible to optimize the distribution logistics processes of companies producing food supplements at a high level by exploiting these new possibilities. The operation of the procedure is also illustrated through a practical example.
The Institute of Logistics of the University of Miskolc started training logistics in Hungarian higher education for the first time in the early 1990s. In recent decades, the training structure and laboratory infrastructure of the institute have changed significantly, relying on the relevant educational and research connections in Germany. The publication presents one of the institute's laboratories, the High-tech Integrated Logistics Laboratory, which contains a number of material handling equipment (pallet handling cell, AGV, automated warehousing system, etc.), which provides an opportunity for fulfillment of high-quality teaching and research tasks. In addition to a brief presentation of the laboratory, the researchers present their future ideas about the laboratory in different areas of development, which can also serve as a useful guide for other professionals involved in logistics education and research.
Without the cold-chain network, it would be impossible in today's world to transport large quantities of perishable goods, primarily food and medicine, over long distances, but it is still very important that the necessary materials reach their destination on time and with adequate cooling. This is absolutely true for the vaccines created to stop the Covid-19 pandemic, which had to be distributed quickly and at certain storage temperatures to all parts of the world. This is a rather difficult task with NP-hard complexity. In this research, we are investigating the optimal way to get from a distribution center in Budapest to the county towns with transport vehicles, so that neither the vaccines deteriorate, nor we violate regulations. For this, we used vehicle route planning principles and Excel-Solver software.
In real life situations, the material handling strategy of on-site storage systems is usually determined during the design of the storage system, which is no longer reviewed later. The strategy is typically determined by the person(s) designing the storage system, without the use of scientific methods, based on previous experience. Without a thorough periodic review of operational strategy, most companies’ warehousing systems have significant logistical losses (e.g., unnecessary material handling, waiting, operations), which also negatively affects the sustainability of the logistics operations. Therefore, eliminating these losses can increase both the competitiveness and the sustainability of companies. For this reason, the aim of this publication is to introduce a gap-filling test method that allows the selection of an optimal material handling strategy covering the total value stream in a demand-driven storage environment, using the opportunities offered by the Industry 4.0 concept, in particular in the field of big data analysis. This integrated approach has so far not emerged in the study of warehouse material handling strategies. Beyond the obvious economic benefits, the application of this method can clearly help companies to achieve a higher level of sustainability in their logistics operations, as it allows storage systems to operate more efficiently while minimizing material handling losses, ultimately resulting in a lesser demand for energy and raw materials. Moreover, this can also result in a reduction in the human and machine resources required to perform the tasks.

Nowadays, manufacturing and service companies are increasingly using new IT-based methods and solutions. Two of these areas are the use of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). Kyrgyz National Agrarian University named after K.I. Skrybian (KNAU) and Kyrgyz State Technical University Named After Iskhaak Razzakov (KSTU) established VR laboratories with the support of an European project, in which the Institute of Logistics of the University of Miskolc played a key role. In this publication, we present the basics of VR and AR technology, with the current market and research shares and lastly its application in laboratories and industrial environments.
